Tim VanLandingham home: 229-377-4786 cell phone: 229-327-6733 email: [email protected] Dear Pavo Baptist Church Family and Friends: The Scripture that keeps “singing” around in my head is Joel 2:1: “Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand.” I say “singing” because that verse has been set to a quite catchy and thought-provoking tune. I would sing it for you now but I need to type on! One of the most curious things in church life to me is to hear some people say things like, “Oh, our church is doing great. There are no real problems among us. We are paying our bills and people are joining. We have …” and on and on we go. Yet, those same folks will seldom be seen at church, and according to Southern Baptist statistics, only %10 tithe to the church. I dare say that our church is in tremendous need of Revival! Not revival meetings, but a Great Move of People Following Our Lord in Obedience. Some folks say that we need a Great Move of God, but the flaw in that statement is that He is already doing that! We are the ones who need to move, to get out of our comfort zone and serve our Lord!! The prophet Amos in 6:1 noticed that in his day as well when he said “Woe to those who are at ease in Zion…” In other words, it is a sad day when we think we are doing well and we simply “coast” along. As a matter of fact, when you coast along in your automobile, you will soon stop. We don’t want that to happen in our church. Brothers and Sisters in Christ, may we never coast along. May we ever be vigilant to be at church when the doors are open. May we all be in every prayer service prior to Revival! May we all be in every Revival service. May we all be at the Annual Meeting of the Thom- as Association to be held at Pavo. May we all be at Homecoming! Will we ever tire? Maybe, but when we are in Sunday School, in Worship, and have a continual Scripture and Prayer focus in our lives, we are constantly refueling. The ministry, vitality, and salvation of our church depends on our obedience. May we be able to post on FaceBook after each service “Great time in worship as we sang and studied…” instead of “Played cards with a friend at 7 PM Sunday night and I won!” Let’s put our Lord first and the world somewhere else down the line! Let’s blow the trumpet in Pavo. May we sound the alarm that Christ is coming again, ultimately and finally. Let’s help them to pre- pare as we are prepared! See you Sunday, and Wednesday, and…..
