Over the past couple of weeks this parish community has begun its interim period. This is a time frame that stretches from Pr. Rawls ministry to the new pastor that the Holy Spirit will lead you to call. During this time (the Council estimates it to be six months), there are a few significant realities of which we need to be aware. First, we will continue to remember with gratitude the ministry of Pr. Rawl. This remembering will take place in our prayers and conversations. He served this parish faithfully and skillfully for twenty-one years, and we need to be mindful of that service. Second, at the same time, these years have quietly prepared the parish to move from one pastor to another. The Churchs ministry is not just about us pastors, it is honestly about the Lord God who rescues the worlds people from nasty, attractive and destructive realities of sin, Satan and death. The Lord baptizes and ordains pastors to proclaim, serve and teach that rescue. In the Lutheran tradition this vital work is summarized as the responsible proclamation of the Gospel and the faithful administration of the Sacraments (Baptism and the Lords Supper with Forgiveness running between them). Third, and most importantly, are the saving and sustaining actions of the Lord God. As they stream out from the worship services on Sundays and Wednesdays, they hold us
together, regardless of the circumstances in which we find ourselves. They provide us with the best context we can have as we make our way through this interim period. Speaking of worships services, Pr. McHugh and I have worked up a shared presiding and preaching schedule for Sundays. This sharing also extends to the Wednesday services. During the Lenten season, the homilies are focusing on the parishs new witness cards. The cards highlight five foundational statements of the North American Lutheran Church. Those statements will be undergirded by the Daily Prayer Scripture readings from Johns Gospel that are designated for those Wednesdays. The Lord, who brought us into a relationship with him through Baptism, is now extending that relationship to include you and me. As we worship, meet and converse together, my sense is that he is drawing us into a great adventure as his redeemed people in this parish community. In our Lords grace, fear and mercy,
Pr. Carl A. Voges, Interim Pastor

Dear St. Peters We would like to thank everyone who helped with Pastor Rawl and Susans Retirement Reception. We appreciate all the home-made cakes(they were a big hit!), monetary gifts toward the cost of the food, help with decorations, set-up and clean-up. You all helped to make it a special afternoon for them. Thank you! It was appreciated! Reception Planning Committee
Dear St. Peter's Church Family, Thank you so much for your support of prayers, calls, cards, food and concern during my mother's, Virginia Rauch Harmon's, end of life. These meant so much to my family and myself and helped carry us through the difficult times. Being surrounded by our loving church family has strengthened us and continually reminded us of God's love and care. God's blessings to each of you! Sheryll, Ray, Ben and Chris Gill
Dear St. Peter's, Thank you to everyone who had a part in hosting my ordination on January 9th. I truly appreciate the time and energy that went into planning, preparing, and cleaning up after the reception, and all the work that our choirs, musicians, ushers, parking attendants, altar guid, and worship and music committee put into making the service meaningful and very special. I continue to receive comments from family and friends about how moving and beautiful the service and reception were. Thank you for your gracious hospitality and all your hard work. I am very blessed to be a part of this wonderful congregation! Yours in Christ, Pastor Paulette
Dear Members of the St. Peters Family: What a wonderful, marvelous day you gave us on February 15! The worship services were beautiful and all the special music greatly appreciated. It was so uplifting to hear our children and youth playing preludes, the littlest ones singing and ringing their bells, Travis and the youth singing a more contemporary piece, the instrumental groups pieces, the hand bells, the magnificent entrance to Richards Highland Cathedral on the bagpipes with the organ, Martha and Mary Anns organ and piano music and the fabulous anthems by the Matins and Chancel Choirs! It felt like an Easter celebration! Thank you to everyone who had a part in these amazing worship services. Words cannot express how humbled and grateful Susan and I were for the outstanding reception in the afternoon. So many beautiful and delicious cakes, the out-of-this-world carving station, the wonderful array of goodies on the center tables and all the perfect flowers and decorations! You all absolutely outdid yourselves in every way. We shall always remember and cherish all you did and the many kind and loving words that were spoken and shared with us at the reception. The gifts were a total surprise. The green and purple stoles will replace my original green and purple stoles which my mother made for me when I was ordained, which are now too tattered to use. The carrying bag and the new wrinkle-free alb will be nice when I have the opportunity to supply occasionally here and there in our NALC churches around the mission district. The huge cash gift was completely unexpected. Your generosity is amazing! Well use this gift for something very special so we will always remember the day. Thank you a thousand times over for all your love and care for me and my family these 21 years. It has truly been a privilege and a joy to have served as your pastor at St. Peters. Susan and I keep the congregation, Pastor Paulette and the Call Committee in our prayers as you now move forward in the search for a new Senior Pastor. May God guide you with His Holy Spirit and continue to bless you with all the abundance of His grace. In Christ,
Pastor Leon Rawl

Update on Missionary Matthew Riak During the month of March the service committee is asking everyone to once again keep
our missionary Mathew Riak in our prayers and support his work with your donations. He is an amazingly talented man blessed with the ability to get things done. He is in an area of the world we can hardly imagine, but with zeal and the gift of the Holy Spirit he is making strides for the community of Christians there. St. Lukes Theological College has turned its attention to refugees who had fled across the border to Uganda and was able to establish a Primary School in the refugee camp at Adjumani, Uganda. This school is now providing instruction for 1,700 students. With the St. Lukes Primary School now well-established in Adjumani. Now is the time to focus on reopening the College in South Sudan.
The majority of South Sudanese are Christians. St. Lukes seeks to address these needs by educating Christian leaders for both church and community. Those who graduate from St. Lukes will be able to more effectively address both the temporal and spiritual needs of the South Suda-nese people. St. Lukes plans to reopen the College in South Sudan by building a new facility on land that was donated to them. Nimule is located on the border between South Sudan and Uganda and is the best location for St. Lukes at this time.
The first phase in providing a facility for St. Lukes in Nimule is a classroom building. The plans are for two classrooms and an office complex. The estimated cost for this building is $40,000. It will cost an additional $10,000 to furnish the compound with water, electricity and sanitation and to provide for office furniture and equipment. Their worldwide supporters hope to raise the $50,000 (in contributions or commitments) by April 2015 so that the College is able to start classes this year.

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHTS
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Luke 12:34 (ESV)
This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible, and one that is very often taken the wrong way. Many people take this verse to mean that you should put your treasure wherever your heart is. Meaning, you will spend your resources of time, energy, talent, and money on the things that are dearest to your heart, but thats not what this verse says at all. Read the verse again. (Go ahead, its a short one)... According to this verse, your heart does not dictate where you place your treasure. Where you place your treasure, dictates the location of your heart. In other words, your use (or misuse) of resources determines the destination of your heart. If you use your resources on the wrong kinds of things, your heart will follow. But if you use your resources of time, energy, talent, and money on good things like serving the Lord through the ministries of this congregation, for example your heart will follow. As we examine our hearts this Lenten season, consider where it is that you want your heart to be then let the giving of your treasures lead the way.

The call process for St. Peters Lutheran Church has begun. In December, 2014, Congregational Council current and newly elected members chose a Call Committee as outlined by our Constitution. Members were required to be voting members of St. Peters. Six members, Larry James, Monroe Lindler, Toby Porth, Landis Sandel, Clyde Sanders, and Tommy Stone, were appointed. NALC call documents and the prior call committee report were given to each member for study. On Sunday, February 8, the committee met and Larry James was chosen as chairman. The process has many steps and patience, prayer, and the guidance of The Holy Spirit are critical. As outlined in the NALC Call Process Manual, this is an involved process; this is a spiritual process of discernment led by the Holy Spirit. It is Gods process, not the congregations. It will take whatever time God intends, so there be no rushing to judgment. For example, what may seem like an inordinate delay to some may indeed be the Holy Spirit working in the process and in a particular pastors life so that he/ she is available and open to a call by the congregation. The goal is to allow Gods will to unfold in such a way that the call committee, council, and congregation recognize and receive the pastor whom God is calling to be their next pastor. The call process is about the revealing of Gods will, not completing the process as quickly as possible.(NALC Handbook) The steps in the process are as follows:
1. A conference call with Dr. David Wendel, Assistant to the Bishop for Mission and Ecumenism (ABME). He will provide orientation, explanation, and training for the work of the Call Committee.
2. Completion of a congregational profile is next. This describes our congregation, our ministry, our community, and a listing of the compensation package for our past pastor. This is then sent to the Assistant to the Bishop (ABME.)
3. Once received by the Assistant to the Bishop (ABME), our profile is added to the monthly listings of NALC vacancies. Our profile will then accompany the updated list of vacancies sent to all pastors available for call in the NALC. A pastor may then request that the ABME send his/ her profile to the congregation. The ABME will also be in conversation with pastors available for call with regard to a particular vacancy. The call committee will receive pastoral profiles of those who are interested in being considered for a call. The number of pastoral candidates will be determined by those who are interested, normally three to five. Please note: If members of the congregation or the Mission District Dean know of pastors who might like to be considered for a call to St. Peters, instruct the pastor to contact the ABME. If a pastor is not certified with the NALC, the certification process must begin, with application being made and background check being made before their profile may be submitted to a congregation. Pastors of other Lutheran bodies are expected to meet the same expectations and requirements as NALC pastors. This may include entering into the NALC candidacy process and may require an examination. (NALC Call Process Manual)
4. Once the call committee has received the profile of pastors available for call, an initial contact is made with each candidate. These are usually 15-20 minute contacts, usually with two to three call committee members. Upon completion of these calls, the committee meets again and schedules full committee calls with all candidates that might meet our congregations needs. Questions developed by the committee will be asked to each candidate.
5. A second round of calls may be made to a select number of candidates. 6. After interviews are completed, the call committee should have narrowed the focus to one candidate.
At that time, the call committee-in cooperation with the Congregational Council- should invite the pastor and spouse for an on-site visit. After the on-site visit, the call committee will determine whether to recommend this pastoral candidate for call to the Congregational Council.
7. The Congregational Council, according to the Constitution, will schedule a Congregational meeting to vote on the recommendation of the Call Committee. A vote will be taken, and according to our Constitution, the recommendation will be accepted or rejected.
8. The recommended pastor is contacted and he/she and their family will either accept or reject the call to serve.
Please also note the following: 1. Confidentiality is extremely important in this process. The names of pastors being considered cant be
given; in many cases, their congregations do not know they are considering a call. 2. Hiring a pastor is not like hiring an employee. Calling a pastor is more like a marriage. Going slowly
and seeking Gods will is critical to find a special talents and abilities needed for ministry at St. Peters. 3. Prayer is essential. Pray for our church, the council, the call committee, and for the pastor the Spirit will
lead us to call. 4. Pray for patience as we wait for the Lord.
