1 Dear Members and Friends of the St. Peter’s Family: It seems that the observance of Lent has largely fallen by the wayside in this century. I suppose people are too busy (or at least think they’re too busy) to give up a couple of hours on Sunday for Sunday School and worship AND an hour on Wednesday during the six weeks of Lent to worship the Lord. But then we think about what our Lord Jesus did for us on the cross… That’s the focus of Lenthow much Jesus gave and gave up to save us from our sin. Without Jesus’ sufferings, death, and resurrection you and I would have absolutely no hope when we must stand at the grave of our loved ones or when we ourselves face death. Death would be the endan eternal darkness. On the cross, Jesus gave his life. Jesus gave himself, sacrificed himself, so that you and I and all who put their faith in Jesus could live with Him in the joy of eternal life when our lives here on earth are done. Lent helps us focus on our sinfulness and our desperate need for a Savior. Lent helps us focus on the wonderful and terrible sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross. This year, our Lenten meditations will be guided by the words of Psalm 51, the penitential psalm assigned for Ash Wednesday. Our topics and verses are as follows: March 9 Help! Dear Members and Friends of the St. Peter’s Family:

It seems that the observance of Lent has largely fallen by the wayside in this century. I suppose people are too busy (or at least think they’re too busy) to give up a couple of hours on Sunday for Sunday School and worship AND an hour on Wednesday during the six weeks of Lent to worship the Lord. But then we think about what our Lord Jesus did for us on the cross… That’s the focus of Lent—how much Jesus gave and gave up to save us from our sin. Without Jesus’ sufferings, death, and resurrection you and I would have absolutely no hope when we must stand at the grave of our loved ones or when we ourselves face death. Death would be the end—an eternal darkness.

Psalm 51:1-2 March12 True Confessions… Psalm 51:3-5 March 19 Wash Me… Psalm 51:6-9 March26 Don’t Chase Me Away Psalm 51:10-12 April 2 Teach, Shout & Sing! Psalm 51:13-14 April 9 Praising the Lord! Psalm 51:15-17 Won’t you sacrifice an hour each Wednesday in grateful appreciation for Christ’s sacrifice for you? In joyful partnership with you in Christ,

It’s time to order Easter lilies to decorate the church on Easter Sunday! All orders for lilies must be in the church office no later than Sunday, March 30. No lily orders will be accepted after that date. Lilies are $13.00 each. If you do not wish to order lilies, you may direct your offering to Nancy K. Perry Women’s Shelter. Both the lilies and the Nancy K. Perry gifts will be listed in the Easter bulletins. You will find envelopes on the tables in the narthex of the Sanctuary, at the entrance of the Parish Life Center and the church office to place your orders. Please note: If you do not want to take your lilies home after the service, please indicate on the Easter Lilies envelope. The lily/lilies will be delivered to some one for their enjoyment.

Annual Contribution Statements were mailed the week of January 26 for your tax preparations. Did you ever wonder where the information comes from that is included on this statement? It comes directly off your numbered offering envelopes and any special offering envelopes. If these envelopes are not filled out completely or correctly, it can result in an incorrect contributions statement. Help the staff to supply you with a correct statement by properly and completely filling out all offering envelopes.

Lenten Vespers—Mid-week Lenten vespers will be offered each Wednesday during Lent at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary. There is no meal prior to worship. The first service is on Ash Wednesday, March 5. Relay for Life 2014 Remember, Fight Back, Celebrate

Last year when I wrote the Proclaimer article for Relay 2013, I felt like celebrating the lives of a pretty teenage girl with a beautiful smile and awesome community support, my neighbor and friend who was anxiously waiting for a stem cell transplant and full of hope, and another neighbor who had survived renal cell carcinoma beyond all odds. This year I am remembering all three who lost their battles since Relay 2013. I am saddened and mad because this disease robs us of people we love and should have in our lives for more days, months, and years. Help us fight back. Get involved with St. Peter’s Relay for Life. We can make a difference. We are now accepting contributions for Relay for Life 2014. Sharon James

The Worship & Music Committee would like to thank everyone who came to the Soup Supper on Sunday, January 26. There were 212 in attendance and we raised $853 for our Summer Music Camp Programs. We had awesome food which was provided by everyone. We send out a big "thank you" to all that helped with our entertainment! Watch for Music Camp dates

and times in the bulletins and Newsletters. Our Mini Music Camp will be Saturday, March 29, 10am to 12pm - so mark your calendar!

Dear Friends, Thank you so much for you generous gift to Heifer International, where it has already been put to work towards igniting transformation in families and projects all over the world. While it’s winter here at home, thousands of families around the world are entering into their summer harvest; with an abundance of fruits and vegetables for the first time ever, thanks to the gift of livestock and training in their care. A new confidence in sustainable livelihoods allows pro-ject participants to grow ever more reliant, rather than face hopelessness and defeat. Best of all, through our cornerstone philosophy of Pass on the Gift, another family will receive the animals and training needed to start a powerful and life changing journey of their own. Thank you for making this possible. Sincerely, Pierre U. Ferrari President and CEO

St. Peters, Thank you so much for the luncheon following the service for Frank. Everything was so good and our family really appreciated the women of the church who helped plan and prepare the delicious food. Many thanks for you thoughtfulness at a sad time in our lives. Louise & Family

Dear Friends, I have heard it said many ways, in many different languages. Thank you. Thank you for your re-cent gift of $220.00 to Lutheran World Relief. Thank you for the work it will support and the lives it will touch. Thank you. On behalf of LWR’s global staff, our partners and those we serve together, thank you for being Christ’s hands in the world. God bless you! In Christ, Jeff Whisenant Interim President and CEO

“I am a Princess not because I

have a Prince…

But because my Father is a King

and He is God.”

St. Peter’s is planning a “Princess” themed mother-daughter-friend tea. What a great way to honor the special ladies in your life with special entertainment and, of course, food fit for royalty. The tea will be held in the Parish Life Center on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 3:00-5:00. Mark your calendar now and invite your mothers, daughters and friends. Everyone is welcome. Additional information, including ticket prices, will be available
