Simon Fletcher, Choir Director has been singing since the age of 10 both as an amateur and professionally; he has directed choirs in the UK and now the International Singers

in Lille. He is responsible for their remarkable success. Depuis l’âge de 10 ans, Simon Fletcher chante en amateur et

comme professionnel, en solo et en chorale. Il a dirigé des chorales au Royaume-Uni et maintenant dirige les

International Singers à Lille. Il est responsable du succès remarquable de ce groupe.

The International Singers choir was set up in 2006 by an enthusiastic group of English-speakers in the area, who began singing together under the direction of Simon Fletcher. From small beginnings, it just grew and grew, and the choir now numbers about 40 people of many different nationalities, but who sing mostly in English, and have a repertoire which includes both modern and classical works. Most of the original members were members of Christ Church Lille, where the choir is welcomed to several special services during the year, such as Christmas and Remembrance. website: international-singers.eu Sous le bâton de leur Directeur, Simon Fletcher, la chorale des International Singers a vu le jour en 2006 avec un groupe d’anglophones qui aimaient chanter. Depuis ce départ modeste, la chorale a pris de l’essor et compte actuellement une quarantaine de membres, de nationalités différentes mais qui chantent principalement en anglais. Leur répertoire va du classique au contemporain. La plupart des membres fondateurs étaient aussi membres de Christ Church, et l’église continue de les accueillir avec grand plaisir à certaines occasions, tel Noël ou l’Armistice. site web : international-singers.eu

Nick Hopton also started singing at a young age, and took up the piano later. He accompanies the International Singers when he is not singing bass in the choir. Nick Hopton chante depuis son jeune âge aussi, et commence ensuite le piano. Il accompagne les International Singers quand il ne chante pas au rang des basses.

Tim Laughlin is an educator, arranger/orchestrator, organist/pianist, and conductor in the United States and France. Tim Laughlin est éducateur, arrangeur, orchestrateur, organiste, pianiste et conducteur aux US et en France.

An English church in Li l le From the beginning of the 19th century, there were many British residents in Lille, often working in the textile industry. Later in the century, after meeting in different places, the town of Lille gave a plot of land and money was raised by the British community to build an Anglican church. The church was dedicated on Ascension Day 1870 and services have been held here ever since, even during World War I, but not during World War II. But times change, and those attending services on Sundays are no longer a group of British people, but people from every continent. Apart from our activities in Lille, we also support charities in France and in the world. Welcome! Une église anglaise à Lil le Dès le début du 19° siècle, il y avait beaucoup de ressortissants britanniques à Lille, surtout en raison de l’industrie du textile. Plus tard, la ville de Lille a donné en perpétuité un terrain pour la construction d’une église anglicane, aux frais de la communauté britannique. L’église fut dédiée le jour de l’Ascension en 1870 et depuis cette date, des offices en anglais ont eu lieu, même pendant la 1° Guerre Mondiale, mais pas pendant la 2°. Les temps changent, et ce n’est plus un groupe purement britannique qui se réunit le dimanche, mais des fidèles de tous continents. Outre nos activités à Lille, nous avons une mission de soutien de certaines œuvres en France et dans le monde. Soyez les bienvenus !

We are very grateful to Simon Fletcher and to every member of the choir for their generous offer of a benefit concert. We are entirely self-funding, and our finances were hit hard when last year ’s Braderie was cancelled so this concert wil l make a big difference. Thank you. Nous sommes très reconnaissants envers Simon Fletcher et chaque membre de la chorale, pour leur générosité en offrant ce concert. L’égl ise est entièrement auto-financée et l ’annulation de la Braderie a eu un gros impact sur nos revenus. Ce concert est donc très important. Merci !
