I do believe that educational leaders have to calling to be the role models that are capable
to create safe and secure learning environments in which the students, as well as the rest of the
school staff feel confident to put all their potential for the benefit others.
As an educational leader, it is also my belief that educational leaders must be able to
create partnerships between the community where we serve as a mean to find the human,
academic, social, and financial support that our students need to succeed.
Involving parents in the students academic process is a task that must be carried out
effectively because it has been proven by research that students with higher academic
achievements are those children whose parents are still involved in their educational activities.
Finally, I do believe that education is such a complex task that it is simply impossible to
be done by passionate educational leaders and teachers; on the other hand, there is a great need
for research-based strategies that involve all the educational community such as school leaders,
teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
Philosophy of Teaching:
Teaching is the wonderful act of gathering with either an individual or a group of people to
exchange a set of ideas, beliefs and principles. The following ideas enclose my own teaching
philosophy:
I believe that the purpose of teaching either a second or a foreign language is mainly to
help the students to have the opportunity to overcome the physical and mental barriers created by
distance.
It is true that globalization has made the world extremely small. Nonetheless, it enlarges
again when people have the limitations of not being able to communicate but in their own
languages. I also believe that as a teacher I have to be aware of all my student's needs, capacities
and abilities at the moment of planning my lessons, if I really want to reach them with what I
want to share with them.
It is also a must to have a clear and solid understanding and mastering of the subject matter
being taught. I strongly believe that I have to implement various strategies in order to be able to
engage my students in an effective learning process.
Textbooks and everything that has been written is extremely important. Nevertheless, I
think that the use of real material and the exposure to my students to the target language and
culture of the languages that they are learning, will give them all the opportunity to learn it and
master it much easier and more effectively.
As a teacher, I strongly defend the need of the contextualization of the teaching process.
Learning becomes a very enjoyable practice when the students find any sort of connection with
what they are learning and their everyday lives.
Now, when the students find that they are able to take what is taught out of their
classrooms in order to fulfill everyday needs, they actually become more appreciative of what
they are learning.
