Achievements

Accepting role of responsibility as Maintenance Manager: Formerly employed as the Maintenance Foreman, I was offered and accepted the position of Maintenance Manager within 3 Months of employment.

Increasing efficiency and reliability of crusher: During my employment with Yara I was confronted with an unacceptable high rate of bearing failures on our crushers. After fault finding it was identified that the base plates on which the bearings were mounted were not true thus resulting in the internal clearances of the Plummer blocks been distorted when tightening them into situ. The base plates were cut out and new base plates were installed. Equipment maintenance cost reduced drastically by roughly 90% of initial cost.

See appendix 1

Spray drier unit modification to attain higher efficiency and reliability: Pre-existing spray drier unit was been changed out on a 3 to 6 monthly period in between an unacceptable rate of failure and breakdowns of unit. I investigated technical specifications of equipment and parts and modified spare unit according to findings. The result was that spray drier unit which was put into service in January of 2015 ran problem free up until Dec 2015 at which time i resigned from company: Equipment was still running when I left.

See appendix 2

Implementing Lean Manufacturing Principles within the Engineering Department : Having received extensive training over a 12 month period, In Lean Manufacturing Principles, tools and implementation techniques I implemented these learnings into the work place in order to increase the operational discipline across all areas of work place. The results were a more effective, efficient and disciplined team as well as management systems.

See Appendix 3

Been candidate chosen as part of, “team of month”: During the roll out of lean manufacturing across our plant I was part of a lean manufacturing team whom was chosen as team of the month based on our efforts to successfully implement the lean manufacturing principles across our plants and work place.

See Appendix 4

Having self-developed working standards recognized internationally across all Yara sites: As part of the lean manufacturing roll implementation I developed specific working standards for the Engineering work shop area which included: Revamp of Engineering work shop (5S), Development of Safe Operating Principles, Standard ways of working, as well as other visual management tools such as post shut reports, KPI monitoring etc which was published on the international Yara web site as an example of best practices to be implemented in other areas of Yara.

See Appendix 5

Implementation and execution of blue light project (Self Initiative): A self-initialized project to eliminate

Page 8: CV FINAL UPDATED

noise pollution on plant. Involved the installation of blue LED Spotlights on all site forklifts and pay loaders to warn pedestrians of vehicles reversing in their immediate vicinity.

are adhered too. Planning all shutdown and daily maintenance for disciplines across the mill: Automation, Electrical,

Hydraulics, Mechanical, Boiler making, Rigging, Production, DCS, Electronics departments. Standing in and fulfilling roles for Mechanical Foreman in his absence. Maintaining SAP data base relevant to Area of responsibility Create plans with Microsoft Projects for all planned maintenance; Monthly and annual shutdowns of Paper

Machine and Mill.- Create MD & MR Notifications, Convert Notifications to PM orders, Create a variety of operations on

SAP PM orders, Create Purchase Requisitions both for internal and external resources and supplies, Capture history, confirmations and technically complete all PM orders and Notifications as required, Capture leave / absences on SAP, Generate reports from SAP of outstanding PM orders .

- Generate costing reports from SAP with regards to planned and actual shut maintenance costs.- Generate reports for SAP with regards to outstanding purchase requisitions and purchase orders.- Conduct approvals of external contractor/services clock in/out times as required from day to day / shut

to shut.- Check spares availability or stock overviews via SAP and liaise with Store Coordinator and

Procurement to ensure critical spares are kept stocked and available as and when required.- Generate stores requisitions for spares/materials as and when required by engineering disciplines.

Achievements

Implementation of specific planning procedures unique to the team with which I am a part which has streamlined the process and produced results which are evident through the efficient execution of all planned shutdowns.

Developed post shut reports which capture precise details of happenings within shut which has proved to be an effective History data base to turn too in problem solving.

Developed unique working methods with individual foreman and Engineers through building relationships with each individual, in understanding the dynamics which motivate and work for each individual character.

Through implementing and driving the Planning procedures along with section Engineers within the Paper Mill; Paper Machine no1 has developed into the mill standard to be reached with regards to shut planning and execution.

Reason for wanting to leave Future of the Paper Industry in South Africa is dim due to overseas competitors thus there is no job security

within this field of Engineering at present.
