Over Veteran’s Day Weekend the coaching staff of The Rinks - Corona Inline traveled up to Bishop, California for a three-day hockey camp from November 9th to the 11th. Over 70 youth hockey players from Sierra Roller Hockey Club signed up and attended the camp. The players were split into a younger and older group, each consisting of around 35 players. In addition nine goalies attended the camp. Overall, the Bishop Hockey Camp was a huge success! We want to thank Lori Gillem for helping set up the hockey camp. Furthermore, we especially want to thank all the kids and parents for making the trip such a memorable experience with their awesome hospitality. We look forward to returning next year!

Many of the youth players from Sierra Roller Hockey Club will also be traveling down here to Corona for our Youth Rec Tournament on Saturday, December 7th. We want to wish everyone safe travels and the best of luck!

November’s Drill of the Month is an introductory drill that is great for working on stick-handling, tight-turns with a puck, and overall puck control. A big aspect of the drill is being able to turn around the cones, while controlling the puck on one’s backhand and forehand. This will promote strong puck control skills.

The drill is as follows:

• On the whistle the first player out of each side skates with a puck to the near cone. The player then controls the puck while weaving in-and-out of the cones concluding with a shot on net.

• The drill can be varied by altering the position of the cones, as well as making the players control the puck all the way to the far set of cones and back.

• After the drill has been done a few times, switch corners.

Skate without puck.
