We recently attended two awesome events in the City of Corona to promote the sport of hockey within the community. Staff from Corona Inline attended Book-a-Palooza at the Corona Public Library on June 4th with a Rinks - Corona Inline booth and Activity Time at the El Cerrito Public Library on June 12th to conduct a hockey demonstration to over 40 families.

This recent community outreach is the start of an attempt to help promote and grow the sport of hockey through out Southern California. Going forward we will be looking to attend more of these events, either with a regular booth set up, or with more participatory hockey demonstration.

If you are interested in having The Rinks - Corona Inline at one of your events, please contact Steven Boddy at [email protected].

June’s Jr Duck of the Month is a little different this year. Since it is the last month that we do Jr Duck of the Month, instead of give it to one individual from one of our teams, we are giving the award to all the sec-ond year midgets from the program that will be aging out after the season is over. This means that all of our midget players with a 1994 birth year are this month’s Jr Ducks of the Month!

The following individuals age out of the Jr Ducks

Program after the season and are the Jr Ducks of the Month for this month:

Many of these players have been in the program for multiple years and we want to thank them for their years of dedication, as well as helping make the pro-gram a competitive one. Even those who only played with the Jr Ducks for one year made the experience a fun one for the coaches

We wish all the above players the best for whatever the future holds, and hope to see them back at Corona Inline playing hockey in the future. Thanks, and con-grats everyone!!!

June’s Drill of the Month is a 2-on-0 passing/shooting drill. This drill is great for working on lateral movement on an odd-man rush. Additionally, the drill helps players work on opening up lateral passing lanes and following his/her pass.

The drill is as follows:

• X1 skates with a puck towards the goalie and takes a shot by the hashmarks.

• X1 then curls up the opposite end of the boards. At this time X2 fills the middle lane and moves the puch to X1.

• X1 skates with the puck towards the coach and passes the puck to the coach.

• The two players curl in front of the coach, filling both lanes on the boards.

• The coach passes the puch back to either skater, then both skaters attack the goalie on a 2-0 rush.
