The Jr Ducks Golf Classic, which took place at Champions Club at the Reatreat on May 16th was a big success! We want to thank the course, volunteers, players, and sponsors for helping the Jr Ducks staff put on the event.

The Mission Hockey foursome took home first place as well!

We had a very successful AAU West Coast Nationals here at Corona Inline. With over 95 teams participat-ing in the tournamnent it was a very jam packed four day event. We want to thank everybody that came out and made the weekend a memorable one and we look forward to next years West Coast Nationals!

2013 AAU WEST COAST NATIONALS

May’s Jr Duck of the Month is Gavin Sodders! Gavin, 15, plays defense on our Bantam team coached by Dylan Brunton. Gavin has become a mainstay on the defense and his recent offensive flair has helped his teams win some big games through the month. He recently had the game winning goal in the shootout during the AAU West Coast Nationals semi-final game!

Gavin brings leadership and optimism to the team

and we are very glad to have him in the program. In addition, he comes to the rink everyday ready to help wherever needed and is a hard working individual. Congratulations on being May’s Jr Duck of the Month Gavin!

SUMMER HOCKEY CAMPS

Camps are open to all ages & skill levels and designed to provide young boys and girls with the fundamentals of hockey from skating and stick-handling to passing and shooting. We hope to provide a fun atmosphere using comprehensive instruction in a friendly environment making roller hockey fun. With over 12 hours of on floor instruction from some of the highest level coaches in the region, we believe we will offer a great instructional and fun camp at an affordable cost.

May’s Drill of the Month is a great passing drill that utilizes half the rink. It helps to work on hitting the trailing player while entering the offensive zone. In addition, the drill help to learn puck movement side to side, laterally when attacking the net.

The drill is as follows:

• X1 passes the puck across the rink to X2, then proceeds to follow his/her pass and fill in the far lane.

• X2 starts skating towards the X1 line with the puck, and passes id down to X3, who is already skating up the boards.

• X3 passes the puck directly to X1 on the far boards and proceeds to up the boards and curl into the play as the “late/high player”.

• X2 attacks the net, X3 is the late guy, and X1 makes the decision whether to shoot or pass for the 3-on-0.
