PAGE 4 Educating For Success Student Representative Council (S.R.C) Footy Colours Day Report On the last day of Term 2 the S.R.C held its annual ‘Footy Colours Day’ to raise funds for ‘Dirsia’, our sponsor child in Timor-Leste. Money was also raised for the Fight Cancer Foundation. A huge number of students proudly wore their favourite footy team colours and provided a gold coin donation. Pizzas and soft drinks were sold at lunchtime and over $300 was raised overall. To end the term on an extremely high note, after lunch the annual Staff versus Students football match proved to be an hard fought and enjoyable tussle (at least for the many spectators) with expert and entertaining commentary provided by Bill Sauer. Gregor Allan proved to be an honourable and completely impartial umpire and despite the best efforts of the enthusiastic student squad, a greatly outnumbered staff team won by a small margin. A very deserving Player of the Match was awarded to Year 7 Coordinator Natalie Timmis. Luke Sherman easily won Mark of the Match for his sliding effort and Kara Taylor won Goal of the Match for quick snap from near the boundary next to the point post. S.R.C Coordinators Mrs McClure and Mr. Matheson would like to thank all the teaching staff who assisted on the day, those who participated in the footy match and particularly Helen, Natalie and Courtney in the office. We would also like to recognise the fantastic work and commitment of the members of Irymple Secondary College’s Student Representative Council for their wonderful work in making Footy Colour’s Day a great success.

Upcoming S.R.C Events Irymple Secondary College S.R.C members were recently invited by a local radio station to broadcast in a two hour slot, once a month on a Wednesday morning. Students have the opportunity to contribute to the song play-list and most importantly they also get a chance to talk about our school’s progress and important upcoming events. This month Amelia and Janel volunteered to be our first radio presenters and they did a wonderful job. They got to talk about our fantastic renovations, our upcoming musical production of ‘The Lion King’, our ‘Footy Colours Day’ and much more. We are already planning for two of our most successful and enjoyable events on the school calendar: the Spring Carnival and the Colour Run. Both events will take place on the final day of Term 3.

PAGE 5 Educating For Success BEAT 2019 - THE SKY IS THE LIMIT This year the BEAT is happening on the 27th and 28th of August. We have a great number of performing arts students representing Irymple Secondary College. If your child is involved with the year 9 BEAT Dance group, Guitar ensemble, Choir, Latin ensemble or your last name is Trigg, you may need to get ready to buy a ticket! Even if your child is not performing in the BEAT, there are 14 schools involved in the BEAT and it will be an absolute cracking show. To add to the excitement, the BEAT is being sponsored by Mildura Rural Council and Freeza, meaning that tickets are at an all time low. Tickets for the evening performances are $5 (flat rate for all patrons) and just $3 for the matinee performance. With prices so low and with so many schools being involved, however, please be advised not to leave it until the last minute to secure your tickets. We do not recommend relying on being able to buy tickets at the door on the night, you may find yourself without a seat. Tickets go on sale from the Mildura Arts Centre Thursday 1st August. There is no guarantee that your child will be performing on both nights or in the matinee, so please keep an eye on XUNO and Facebook to find out which night they are performing so that you can buy tickets for the night that they perform. Further information about performances will be on Facebook and XUNO soon. Any inquiries about the BEAT please contact Beth Menhennett.

Interschool Badminton ISC fielded 3 teams in this event which was held at Chaffey S.C. Our yr.9/10 boys team made it to the semi-finals with 2 wins and 1 loss but were outclassed by the eventual winners. (Josh Bailey, Patty Carter, Jake Muir, and Dylan Anderson) The yr.7/8 boys also won 2 out of 3 matches with Casper in great form winning all his sets as the no.1 player. Unfortunately there were no finals in this grade so we had to be content with second place. (Mason Purdue, Jeff Mendoza, Adam Cavanagh-Cook, and Casper McCarthy) The yr.9/10 girls tried hard all day and showed improvement with each match. They won a few sets, but unfortunately no matches but had a lot of fun along the way. (Paige McLean, Jayshree Barrett, Janel Noya, and Elyza Penny)
