Sunraysia Youth Drug Forum;

Youth Drug Forum On the 10th of October, the first week back of next term, the Year 10 Leaders are organising an Anti-Drug Forum for Year 9 students at the Mildura Arts Centre. The committee will run the forum twice on the Tuesday, to inform all local schools around the Mildura district. The student ran presentations aim to inform students about the consequences of drugs and to bring awareness of the charges and protocol the police enforce. Together with Miss Garrigan, our college captains Brodie Adams, Edie Hopgood, Georgia Leutner, Regan Kerslake, Will Ubonkit and myself have been working closely with Mildura Police, Chaffey Secondary, Coomella Secondary and their representing teachers to plan a successful drug forum. Our roll as Irymple Secondary Captains is to perform a 10 minute skit. The concept we went along with was that we are at a young teenagers party, where a mate spikes his friends drink. The next day he wakes up to find his friend dead. The message we aim to portray is to show the real danger of drugs, how one silly decision can turn into a disaster and also the problems our community faces. During the Youth drug forum we will have guest speakers from Headspace, Mildura Police, Sunraysia Community Health Services and Mildura District Aboriginal Services. We are all really keen to pick up skills from running a forum in front of such a large group and we will keep you posted on how it went next term.
