PAGE 2 Educating For Success STAFFING This term we have a number of staff on long service leave – Anne Symes and Rod Matheson are on leave for the first 6 weeks of term, Angela and Ed Hung have three weeks leave, Steve Morrish one week and Gregor Allan the last three weeks of the term. To provide consistency of learning for our students, all these staff on leave are being replaced by our regular replacement teachers– those on leave and the replacement staff have worked together to ensure that students learning is not impacted. We also welcome Bev Thompson to our Wellbeing team as the school nurse. Bev is at ISC on Tuesday and Wednesdays and available to students. Bev has much experience in the School Nursing Program and she is a valuable asset to our team. Sadly David Byrne our Koorie Education Support Officer, has taken 12 months leave from the Department, we wish Byrnesy well and know that the kids, staff and parents will miss his positive imapact on our school. Ben Parker will be replacing David and we welcome Ben to ISC. Ben is shared between a number of schools and comes to us with much experience. VARIETY NIGHT Our special night is on 25th October with kids and staff working very hard to prepare for this event. For two days this week our students have been in rehearsals and by all accounts a lot of fun and learning took place. Please keep an eye out on our facebook page and the Xuno portal for further information. ORGANISATION This is an incredibly busy term and it is imperative that students don’t miss out on the many opportunities provided for them. To ensure this doesn’t happen students rely on parents to assist them so please stay informed through the Xuno portal, our facebook page and the newsletter.

SRC REPORT - SPRING CARNIVAL AND COLOUR RUN What a wonderful example of the Irymple Way - the last day of last term was a perfect ending to the term with our traditional Spring Carnival and newly included Colour Run. Everyone in the school got involved and a fabulous day resulted – great weather to, whoever ordered that! Thanks to parents who donated items, helped bake goods, came out to support the Colour Run and to all the staff who worked behind the scenes making sure the kids had what they needed for their stall to be a success as well as the day in general, the SRC students for all their extra input before, during and after the day to make sure it went to plan and of course all our students for their ideas, enthusiasm and participation with planning and running the stalls and enjoying the food and activities other stalls had to offer. There was a variety of great food and activity stalls; freshly baked slices, hot donuts, fruit smoothies, snow cones, pizza, hot chips and Lucky Numbers, AFL Kick, Wet Sponge Toss and Balloon Shooting just some of the food and activity stalls open to the students for the morning. Students shared the responsibility of running their stalls so they all had time to enjoy the food and activities run by the other forms as well. Spring Idol, our local talent quest followed the carnival with some fabulous staff and student acts. The entertainment was priceless! Our winners of were: 1st - Nafetalai Fangaloka Dual 2nd – Jorja Taylor and Millie Edwards The day ended with a new tradition at ISC – our Colour Run. The kids looked fresh and clean in their white tops all lined up at the starting line but it didn’t take long for a riot of colour to take over! Many of the students collected sponsorship from their family and friends for going in the Colour Run to further raise funds for new classroom furniture – thank you to everyone who sponsored a student! Students who collected sponsorship have until Friday this week to hand their money in to the school office or have it paid online via their profile page. After Friday they have two weeks to claim their prize/s for the money they raised (see below).
