BAPTISM - (English) The process for infant baptism and children under 7 years old is as follows: �Parent(s) call the office to request an appointment. In that appointment the whole process will be explained. �Godparents must be prac�cing Catholics, be over 16 years of age, and have the Sacraments of Bap�sm, First Communion and Confirma�on and live their lives according to the teachings of Christ and His Church. �Godparents can be single. If the person has a partner, he/she must be married by the Church. Free union or civil marriage is not enough. �Proof of Confirma�on and Marriage by the Church. The godparents must bring their Confirma�on, and Church Marriage cer�ficate (if they are married). �When all relevant documents are received the dates will be given to a�end the Bap�smal Parent Class, the Presenta�on in the Church, the class for parents and godparents and the date of the bap�sm. Our Lady of Altagracia Protector of the Dominican Republic

On Sunday, January 24th, we will come together with the Dominican community to celebrate Our Lady of High Grace (Altagracia), Protector of the Dominican Republic. The celebration begins with a

Novena beginning on Saturday, January 16th in the Church at 5:30 p.m. where parishioners will meet to daily recite the rosary and stay for the 6:30 p.m. Mass. The novena ends on Sunday, January 24th. Due to the large number of people who come to this Feast Day Mass, and to accommodate all wanting to attend, we will have the image of the Virgin of Altagracia, both at the Gym and in the Church and will do an acknowledgement, prayer and blessing in honor of the Virgen de la Altagracia at all the Spanish speaking Masses.

Nuestra Señora de Altagracia Protectora de la Republica Dominicana

El domingo, 24 de enero nos reunimos con la comunidad dominicana en la celebración de Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, Protectora de la República Dominicana. La celebración se inicia con una Novena que comienza el sábado 16 de enero en la Iglesia a las 5:30 p.m. donde los feligreses se reunirán para rezar diariamente el rosario y permanecerán para la Misa de las 6:30 p.m. La novena termina el domingo 24 de enero. Debido a la gran can�dad de personas que acuden a esta Misa de Fiesta, y para dar cabida a todos los que quieran asis�r, tendremos la imagen de la Virgen de la Altagracia, tanto en el Gimnasio como en la Iglesia y haremos un reconocimiento, oración y bendición en honor a la Virgen de la Altagracia en todas las Misas de habla hispana.

Today, Sunday, January 10th we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. With this feast we bring to a close the Advent-Christmas Season. After Sunday the decorations in the church will be removed and stored until next year. We thank the many people who donated plants and prepared the decoration of our church. It truly inspired devotion and celebration at the awesome gift of God for the salvation of all.

A suggestion, if you have yet to take down your Christmas decorations a home - Taking down your Christmas decorations: After all the preparation and anticipation Christmas can sometimes feel like an anticlimax. There are happy memories for sure but there is also a feeling of “What comes next?” Some thoughts for your reflection: ��How does your Christmas celebration compare to

the first Christmas? ��What can you do to extend the joy of this day

throughout the year? ��How has Jesus been reborn in you this Christmas? A Prayer Suggestion: Pray today for those who are unable to experience the joy of Christmas.

Hoy, domingo, 10 de enero, celebramos el Bautismo del Señor. Con esta celebración terminamos la Estación de Adviento – Navidad. Después del domingos quitaremos la decoración de la iglesia hasta el próximo año. Otra vez, deseamos agradecer a las muchas personas que donaron las plantas y prepararon la decoración de la iglesia. De verdad inspiró un espíritu de devoción y celebración del maravilloso don de Dios para la salvación de todos.

Una sugerencia, si todavía no han quitado las decoraciones de su hogar - Quitando las Decoraciones de Navidad: Después de toda la preparación y anticipación, la Navidad a veces nos deja con sentimientos de desilusión. Sí hay recuerdos muy alegres pero hay también un sentimiento “¿Y ahora qué hay?” Algunos pensamientos para su reflexión: �� ¿Cómo se compara su celebración de la Navidad con

la primera Navidad? �� ¿Qué puede usted hacer para extender la alegría de

The Lord of Esquipulas

The history of the Miraculous Lord of

Equipulas, also called the Black Christ of

Esquipulas, is well-known in the Central

American countries and southern Mexico.

In 1595, at the request of the indigenous

people of the village of Esquipulas,

Guatemala, a very devout young man

named Quirio Cataño, sculpted the image of a

crucified Christ. The people of the village wanted a

statue of a dark color, similar to the color of their

own skin, but because there is not a wood so dark,

they accepted the one that young Cataño made for

them, and they put it in a type of cabin-hut until the

Shrine being built in the center of the village was

finished. January 15th was the day designated to be

the Feast of Our Lord of Esquipulas.

The Guatemalan community of our parish invites the whole community to celebrate the feast in honor of the Lord of Esquipulas. The celebration is Sunday, January 10 at 8:00 a.m.

Nuestro Señor de Esquipulas

La historia del Señor de Equípalas, también llamado el Cristo Negro de Esquipulas, es bien conocido en los países de América Central y el sur de México. En 1595, a petición de los indígenas de la aldea de Esquipulas, Guatemala, un joven muy devoto llamado Quirio Cataño, esculpida la imagen de un Cristo

crucificado. Los habitantes de la aldea querían una estatua de un color oscuro, similar al color de su propia piel, pero debido a que no es una madera tan oscura, aceptaron la que el joven, Cataño, hizo para ellos, y lo pusieron en un tipo de cabina choza hasta terminar construyendo el Santuario en el centro del pueblo. El 15 de enero fue el día designado para ser la Fiesta de Nuestro Señor de Esquipulas.

La Comunidad Guatemalteca de nuestra parroquia invita a toda la comunidad a la celebración de la fiesta en honor al Señor de Esquipulas el domingo, 10 de enero a las 8:00 a.m.

We are going to start a PROJECT TO RAISE FUNDS TO CHANGE THE RUG IN THE CHURCH. As everyone can see, the current carpet is very old (it has been in

place for over 40 years!), and is very worn and discolored. With your help, the

time has come to change it and make our Church more beautiful and worthy!

We have been working with the help of the Archdiocese with several companies

and we have already prepared a project that involves: removing the old carpet,

making some repairs to the floor and installing the new carpet. The

estimated cost is $60,000. Starting next week we will start this

fundraising campaign. How can you help?
