BAPTISM - (English) Registration begins with an
interview of the child’s parent. Parents must call office to make an appointment. Parent meeting as well as pre-baptismal class for parents and godparents is not optional. If Parent or Godparent(s) have baptized in the last 12 months from the date of intended baptism, proof must be provided (where and when class was taken); a letter or card from the parish. It is a Church requirement that at least one Godparent has the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is the expectation that Godparents are practicing Catholics.

opportunity for the Sacrament of
Reconciliation. We begin at 5:30 p.m. stop
at 6:30 p.m. for the Mass and then continue
after the Mass. We hope you will take this

you haven’t celebrated the sacrament in a while.
Remember the sacrament is a celebration of God’s
mercy and forgiveness. Please share this information

Fasting and Abstinence Catholics 14 years of age and older are to abstain from meat on all the Fridays of Lent.
Fasting is to be observed by Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59. They should eat one full meal and 2 smaller meals to maintain strength according to one’s needs. They should not eat in between meals. These traditional practices are ways to both foster a healthy body and center our minds and hearts on God. LENT 2019
Laetare Sunday
Today, we begin the Fourth Week of Lent. It is
still a time to examine our lives and continue the
traditional practices of prayer, fasting and
almsgiving. We will pray for the Elect as they
participate in the Second Scrutiny.
However, there is a different spirit. The
vestments are different (rose or purple with a
hint of rose).
It is Laetare Sunday. The name is taken from
the words of the introit, laetare Jerusalem, "rejoice with
Jerusalem."
There is a more joyful tone at this halfway point in the
Lenten season. Traditionally, the Apostles Creed is
"handed over" to the catechumens, the last step for those
preparing for Baptism in the Church at the Great Easter
Vigil.

The Fourth Week of Lent brings us closer to Holy Week.

First Reading: Joshua 5:9a, 10-12 Joshua and the Israelites celebrated Passover in Jericho. This was the first time they had eaten the produce of the promised land. After this, there was no more bread sent from heaven because they were able to eat the yield of the land.
Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 Paul tells us that anyone living in Jesus is a new creation because God has reconciled with us through Christ. As an ambassador for Jesus, Paul implores that the Corinthians be reconciled to God through Jesus.
Gospel: Luke 15:1-3, 11-32 The Pharisees grew disgusted with Jesus because of his compassion toward sinners. So Jesus told them a story of a son who squandered his inheritance. When a famine broke out, he returned home and asked his father to become a hired hand. His father instead welcomed him with a joyful celebration, just as God is overjoyed when a sinner returns to him.

Help with Your Heating Bill!
The Greater Lawrence Community Action Council
(GLCAC) has started to accept application for fuel
assistance. Funding is available through the Low
Income Home Energy Assistance Program to help
pay a portion of winter heating bills for low income
residents in the Merrimack Valley.
Eligibility is based on household size and gross
annual income of every household member age 18
or older.
New applicants must apply in person at the GLCAC/
LIHEAP office. Appointments may be made by phone
978-681-4950 or online at http://www.glcac.org under the
LIHEAP program.
Previous applicants will receive an application and
instructions in the mail.
Applications will be accepted until April 30th.

This past weekend 20 parishioners offered donations and
pledges to the Appeal. This brings our total participation
to 414 parishioners.
How does your gift to the Appeal serve our Parish and
the people of the Archdiocese?
Hospital Chaplains
If you or a family member are a patient at Lawrence
General Hospital, Holy Family Hospital, or any hospital in
the Archdiocese, a chaplain is there to assist you during
your hospital stay. The chaplain may be a priest, religious
or in many cases a trained lay person. Mr. Craig Gibson
is the chaplain at Lawrence General Hospital; the
Pastoral Care Office at Holy Family Hospital
coordinates the ministry there. Ministers of the Eucharist
bring communion to patients; priests from local parishes
visit the sick for the Sacrament of the Anointing of the
Sick.
When we are informed, we try to visit parishioners in our
local hospitals, but, there is a chaplain at the hospital for
you. Remember to let the hospital staff know that you are
a Catholic when you are admitted.
The Appeal supports the Health Care Ministry, providing
training, information, support, and referral for hospital
chaplains and pastoral visitors to the sick.

this life-changing work, please find a donation form
available at the entrances of the church or at the

Craig Gibson es el capellán del hospital Lawrence General; la Oficina de Cuidado Pastoral en el Holy Family Hospital coordina este ministerio en ese hospital.
