Evolve Your Services and Applications

How to respond to new trends? Iskratel has designed an open multi-service platform for application creation and delivery in the following network types:

• PSTN and 2G/3G mobile networks, • pure IP (NGN) or mixed TDM/IP networks, • SIP-based and IMS infrastructure.

The platform serves as a universal and scalable basis with modules for networking and application provisioning. The included application servers are independent of the underlying technologies – the addition of new applications is smooth and easy, and time effi cient.

The open platform, which acts as equipment independent of the core network, is a suitable solution for mobile, fi xed or combined FMC/IMS networking environments. Upgradeability with intelligent protocols makes the multi-service platform a future-proof decision.

The availability of web 2.0 applications presents telcos with an opportunity to adapt their business models as they continue their pursuit of data revenues. These applications based on open technology standards drive changes in Internet usage, and provide high levels of interoperabilitywith telco services.

Everyday working tasks and private life are tightly interwoven through social networking and web applications. Combining SIP-based voice communications with social networking sites is a potential opportunity for increased subscriber loyalty and revenue.

Universal telephone number

Most people have one name, one social security number, and one home address. Now think how many identities a person has in the world of telecommunications: offi ce phone, cell phone, a fax machine, nicknames or numbers in web applications, home phone, etc.

To escape from the number jungle there is a need to incorporate your users’ communication into a single number – known as the universal telephone number service.

User benefi ts:

• The Universal Number service is location agnostic. It saves your users’ time and, possibly, money while ensuring immediate attainability.

• Self-provisioning over the web interface provides users with the possibility to control incoming calls in real time without geographical boundaries.

Carrier benefi ts:

• The service is based on an open-architecture server. In this way it keeps the initial investment low.

• The service off ers an opportunity to bring in an additional source of revenue to the core business, and to reduce the subscriber churn rate.

Advanced Call Routing Services

Convergent voting engine

It is a popular and easy way to get an opinion poll from the audience using:

• fi xed terminals by making voice calls, • mobile terminals by sending USSD/SMS messages, • web portals with links that enable voting.

Benefi ts:

• Keeps track of all votes in one place regardless of the voting method used.

• Provides web statistics and reports for the customer and registered users.

Notifi cation server

The notifi cation server generates a large number of automatic outgoing phone calls according to predefi ned calling patterns. It can be used for the payment reminder, advertising campaigns, mass notifi cation of residents about emergency situations, and periodic meeting notifi cations.

Auto attendant

Auto attendant is a speech-enabled IVR (Interactive Voice Response) service that replaces the human carrier. It automatically directs callers to the appropriate extension (department or individual) according to the voice or DTMF input of the caller.

Benefi ts:

• The callers receive consistent, professional treatment without human intervention.

• The customer saves the time, the money and the frustration of answering and directing calls.

Pay for me

Pay4Me has been created to enable customers who end up with no credit on their account. An out-of-balance mobile user sends a notifi cation to the recipient asking him to pay for the call. The only prerequisite is that the called party agrees to pay for the calling party.

Routing and presentation rules are provisioned by the carrier or self-provisioned by the subscriber. Additionally, ANTS includes a rich set of services:

Least-cost routing – enables a cost-effi cient exchange of voice traffi c between carriers.

Short-code dialing – abbreviated numbers for speed dialing in addition to all the options off ered by the terminal equipment (direct keys, directories and lists). For a geographically dispersed company that uses short codes for internal calls, ANTS provides the insertion of the missing digits to complete the number.

Free phone and premium-rate services (FPH and PRM) – All calls toward free and premium-rate services trigger the ANTS server. It uses intelligent business rules to translate those numbers to regular telephone numbers. The call is then routed to this new destination.

Black list/Call barring – certain user groups can be barred or permitted to call specifi c destinations in compliance with the set criteria.

Convergent Services

Maximize Your Service Bundles with Voice-Video VAS Services, Converged Services, Telco 2.0 Services, Advanced Call Routing Services.

Web add-on telephony

Nowadays the internet imposingly infl uences people’s way of living. Still, existing internet VoIP solutions are only popular with technically skilled users. With a web add-on telephony service, the carrier breaks down technological barriers and introduces web telephony to the average computer, TV and mobile users.

The web add-on telephony service minimizes the time needed to make a call. The calls are made directly from web portals, TV sets or mobile handsets. The conversation itself is carried out using existing fi xed or mobile telephone devices.

This service provides entirely web-activated telephony, and requires no download or installations of special software.

User benefi ts:

• Simplifi ed use of telephone services – the world of internet telephony becomes open for everyone.

• Self-provisioning over the web interface allows for usage personalization.

Carrier benefi ts:

• Additional revenue source through the increased amount of calls.

• Web widgets enrich enterprise websites and portals to empower e-commerce.

• Tap the social networking market by adding telephony applications to Facebook, MySpace, etc.

Telco 2.0 Services

Advanced Number Translation Services (ANTS)

ANTS’ off ers new possibilities for intelligent call routing and call presentation depending on the calling party number, the called party number, the time of day, or the date.

Personal ring back tone (RBT)

Personal RBT service allows users to replace a standard RBT with another sound (tone, music, sound eff ects) from a predefi ned list of available sounds.

The carrier has several additional revenue streams available through off ering web or voice self-provisioning tools that allow to browse and select not only the ring-back tones from a predefi ned list, but also recorded personal greetings, music as a gift, etc.

Dual-mode handset

Dual-mode handset is the ultimate device for advanced users who are willing to pay more to get true fi xed-mobile convergence. Subscribers use it as a conventional mobile device or as a soft-client device on WiFi hot spots independently.

To get the full potential the carrier must also off er Voice Call Continuity (VCC) where the voice call can be maintained while traversing from the mobile to the WiFi network, and back.

User benefi ts:

• Improved overall communication experience and reduced communication costs (single bill).

• The user is accessible all over the world, wherever an IP network is available.

Convergent SMS

The most profi table data service remains SMS messaging, thanks to its ease-of-use, inexpensive price tag, global reach, and increased reliability.

New market entrants do not need to set up an expensive SMS center and make connection agreements with other carriers worldwide. The Convergent SMS service eliminates the need for this by an open IP-based SMS gateway to deliver SMS messages.

The carrier only needs to connect to an international SMS hub provider that already provides worldwide connectivity.

Mobile Stick

Mobile Stick is a soft client integrated in a USB device with an embedded SIM card. Such a USB device transforms the PC or the laptop into a voice, SMS, MMS and video-capable device.

Soft client

Soft client is another possibility for mobile and fi xed carriers to deploy convergent services.

Soft client is a downloadable soft phone for desktop/laptop computers, which then act as phone terminals. Because SIM cards and USB keys are not needed, the carrier reaches a wider audience.

Convergent services already exist as standalone

services in fi xed telephony in the form of a triple-play

solution. In the case of mobile telephony, they exist

as a combination of voice and data communication.

Linking both networks brings a new dimension to

fi xed-mobile convergent services.

Mobile and fi xed carriers evolve with a step-by-step

approach to deploy convergent services and off er

them in various forms.

Number portability

Number portability enables users to change service providers while retaining the existing telephone number without any additional charge. The service is cost-eff ective and fulfi lls all regulatory requirements. It eliminates the need for a large and expensive intelligent network infrastructure.

Carrier benefi ts:

• An opportunity to introduce new features like video telephony, presence, instant messaging and advertising.

• Easy use of SMS/MMS messaging increases existing revenue streams for carrier, and prevents end-user churn.

( (

APPLICATION SERVER

Service provider portability – when they change the service provider, end-users keep their existing telephone number.

Location portability – end-users keep their number when they move to another geographic location.

Service portability – end-users keep the telephone number when they change the type of telecommunication service (e.g., POTS to IP).

Benefi t:

• A great service that provides the user with the fl exibility to call in emergencies, make important calls (child/parent scenario), etc.

Video VAS

Video calls between 3G and fi xed/wireless broadband networks present a growth and revenue generating opportunity for carriers. The use of video services combined with web-based applications (Live TV, Video Streaming, Video Blogging, Video Surveillance, etc.) is rapidly expanding.
