The needs of modern people largely depend on their liv-ing and working environments, as well as their ability to access the internet. We provide innovative and scalable solutions that will easily meet a wide variety of user re-quirements.
Iskratel WiMAX equipment portfolio, the SI3000 WiMAX, addresses the full range of requirements to support rev-enue-generating services on a broadband network.
INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS for the Full Range of Requirements
DIVERSITY OF SI3000 WiMAX Access NETWORK SOLUTIONS
Target applications:
- Wireless broadband internet access
- VoIP
- VPN service
- Backhaul for 2G/3G & Wi-Fi networks
Target markets: - Enterprise/small office - Retail/residential DSL alternative - Urban, suburban and rural areas
Coverage for Rural Areas
The subscriber distribution in rural areas is low in density and spreads over large areas. Also, the traditional model of laying copper lines is costly and time consuming. The WiMAX-based wireless solutions offer operators in theseareas the option to provide umbrella coverage by plan-ning large-sized cells - the subscribers use external anten-nas with line-of-sight (LOS) or near line-of-sight (NrLOS) links. Since base stations can employ microwave links as backhaul, they further enhance fast and cost-effectiverollouts.
Capacity for Urban Areas
Urban areas are characterized by a high-density of sub-scribers with large bandwidth consumption. Therefore, the challenge lies in building high-capacity networks in the given spectrum. The capability of WiMAX to artificiallylimit the range allows multiple reuse of frequency, thus al-lowing higher capacity in the existing network. Subscrib-ers are able to connect with indoor antennas under NLOS conditions. The use of indoor subscriber stations makes possible self-installation, which is a cost-effective businesssolution for operators.
Voice over WiMAX
The most important part of the business cases for the majority of operators is voice services. The ability of an operator to control QoS over the entire IP network is a
must. WiMAX technology is very suitable for VoIP trans-port due to embedded QoS mechanisms, which take care of proper traffic prioritization over radio interface. On theother hand, the base station and a subscriber station must translate different Ethernet traffic types into different serv-ice flows. Mechanisms like VLAN prioritization are used inall network elements, including CPE, to guarantee QoS control.Iskratel provides a complete end-to-end VoIP solution with QoS control over all the network elements.
Backhaul Alternative for Mobile Networks
Operators of mobile networks traditionally use leased lines or microwave backhaul to connect their cellular BTS to the network. With the introduction of new genera-tions of IP BTS, NodeBs and Wifi access points alternativeIP-based interfaces are available. The traditional approach is no longer cost efficient. WiMAX offers an attractive so-lution as it provides connectivity for these packet-based nodes. In addition, traditional TDM–E1 connectivity can be provided over a WiMAX network.WiMAX backhaul leverages the point-to-multipoint serv-ice capability to allow multiple nodes to be backhauled via a single base station.
Backhaul Alternative for Fixed Networks
In the PSTN fixed voice carriers traditionally use copperlines or microwave backhaul to connect their remote access nodes to the local exchanges. In their transition to NGNs carriers are installing new multiservice access nodes (MSANs) to offer attractive, new IP-based serviceslike rich voice services, fast internet, IPTV, VoD, etc. In this case WiMAX, which is designed for efficient IP/Ethernettransmission, is an ideal solution for backhauling several small-capacity products of the SI3000 MSAN family. A single WiMAX base station can provide the backhaul con-nectivity for several low-to-medium-capacity products of the SI3000 MSAP product family.

SCALABILITY & SECTOR DENSITY
The SI3000 WiMAX base station series IDU has been designed to keep both the scalability and the tight space constraints of a typical deployment site in mind. A two-sector base station is offered as a single blade. It is mountable in different chas-sis, like a 1U 19” chassis or an MEA chassis with 3, 5 or 10 slots for high-capacity deployments. Both wall and shelter instal-lations are available.
INTEGRATION INTO AN IP/ETHERNET NETWORK
The use of an integrated carrier-grade Ethernet aggregation switch makes possible the simple integration of a WiMAX base station into a Metro Ethernet environment.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
The operator can benefit from the SI3000 MSAP productfamily platform by combining different access technologies, like FTTx and xDSL, to connect the user in the most efficientway. In addition to different access technologies the opera-tor can integrate a Call Server or a Voice Gateway blade into the same MEA chassis to provide call control or to intercon-nect to a PSTN.

SI3000 WiMAX Base Station Series
