SI3000 DSL Access BUSINESS BENEFITS

Standards compliant for investment protection

The SI3000 DSL Access central office equipment and cus-tomer premises equipment are fully compliant with the ITU-T G.992 specifications. This ensures SI3000 DSL Accessinteroperability with any leading DSL end-user equip-ment, and secures operators’ investments and operational costs.

Pay-as-you-grow concept secures investment

The unique concept in Iskratel’s modular design of its SI3000 MSAP product family makes it possible to adapt to any changes in the service provider’s network-de-ployment scenario, without any expensive equipment upgrades and with full re-usability of the installed equip-ment. It allows service providers to cover urban, suburban and rural areas, and supports all the required services.

Boosted revenues

The expanded set of attractive new services helps ser-vice providers hold on to current subscribers, attract new subscribers and increase the revenue per subscriber. The SI3000 DSL Access products support data services (inter-net, fast internet, teleworking, VPN, etc.) and multimedia services (IP television, video-on-demand, interactive TV guide, recording-on-demand, applications-on-demand, etc.) in combination with voice services.

Management infrastructure

The SI3000 DSL Access Management and provisioning systems are designed to integrate easily with operators’ existing NMS systems and/or service call centers to pro-vide a seamless changeover.

Carrier-class solution

The SI3000 DSL Access products are robustly designed and meet all ETSI mechanical and electrical requirements for central office equipment. The Iskratel solution catersfor redundancy modes of high MTBF.

Variety of DSL access technology

The SI3000 DSL Access combines SHDSL, ADSL, ADSL2+ and VDSL2. The SI3000 DSL Access product portfolio com-prises non-blocking central GbE aggregation, common for different chassis types. Wireline broadband technolo-gies can be easily complemented with other access tech-nologies, like SI3000 Fiber Access or SI3000 WiMAX-based wireless access.

Variety of DSL customer premises equipment

To meet end-user needs and follow triple-play network development, Iskratel has widened its portfolio of broad-band CPE. Besides creating a positive user experience, it offers a wide variety of network interfaces, user interfaces,Ethernet functions, IP functions, as well as remote CPE provisioning with an auto-configuration system (in com-pliance with TR69) and wireless LAN connectivity.

Packaging diversity

The central office equipment is compatible with a di-versity of situations that the service provider faces when end-user broadband provisioning is requested. Hence, the equipment can be supplied to cover indoor as well as outdoor installations, wall, on-floor or underground in-stallations, delivered in ETSI or 19” packaging with remote powering or on-site powering for different densities ofend-user distribution.

Integration into an IP/Ethernet network

Use of a carrier-grade Ethernet aggregation switch in redundant or non-redundant form enables the easy integration of SI3000 DSL Access nodes into the service provider’s Metro Ethernet network. The network topologies are ring, tree and cascading/daisy-chaining. High availability and quick convergence times are provided by the use of standard and proprietary protocols.

RICH PORTFOLIO OF DSL CUSTOMER PREMISES EQUIPMENT

Customer premises equipment plays an important role in achieving a positive user experience. The Iskratel broadband CPE portfolio represents a complete offer that meets end-user needs and follows the triple-play network development.

ADSL2+ MODEMS

Iskratel offers a wide range of ADSL2+ modems that work in bridge or router modes.

The Callisto series are entry-level modem models that tar-get internet-only users. These are simple ADSL2+ modems with a single Ethernet port. Although not offering many connectivity options they provide support for triple-play services and business-class subscribers as well.

The Ganymede series are intermediate-class modem models with four Ethernet LAN ports that support triple-play services but are more focused on demanding data and IPTV users. A VoIP service is possible by using IP phone sets connected to one of the LAN ports.

The Sinope series offers a wide portfolio of triple-play-ori-ented high-end modem models. For demanding triple-play users there are numerous models, which offer up to four Ethernet LAN ports plus an integrated terminal adapt-er. These high-powered modems can play the role of a real home gateway.

Key features:

- wide variety of network interfaces, user interfaces,Ethernet functions, IP functions

- support for IP unicast / broadcast / multicast- remote CPE provisioning with auto-configuration

system- optional wireless LAN connectivity (Sinope series,

Proteus series)- different options for management functions

VDSL2 home gateways

The Proteus series represents a cost-effective solution with a VDSL2 modem that meets the requirements of very demanding users in high-density areas. The modems are designed for a SoHo DSL and for demanding triple-play users. Extended router and firewall features with an em-bedded terminal adapter provide a real home gateway with maximum QoS.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS for the full range of requirements

SAP

The SI3000 DSL Access products can be used for solutions in different network segments managed by carriers and service providers. Whether the service provider is searching for a solution in a metropolitan area, an urban area or a rural area, with a standard copper-wire infrastructure or with a widely deployed fiber infrastructure, searching to provide a basic fast-internet service or a fully convergent voice, data and multimedia service like a triple-play service offer, the products of the SI3000 MSAP product family can deliver a solution.

Typical networking solutions for:

- Telecoms (incumbent local exchange carrier)

- Internet service providers

- Alternative (competitive local exchange carrier)

- Local service providers, hotel service providers

- Rural carriers

Typical network scenarios and applications:

- Fast internet access

- IP TV solutions

- VoIP over xDSL

- Business VPN solutions DIVERSITY OF SI3000 DSL AccessNETWORK SOLUTIONS

Broadband in city networks and district centers

Urban areas are characterized by a high density of house-holds, business facilities, and shopping centers. All of these are potentially heavy-bandwidth consumers. To meet the requirements of the residential user, a cost-effective technology that can provide a high throughput for triple-play services (IPTV, multimedia) is required. A resilient and high-capacity network at the core and a high-capacity transport network with many GbE ports are already avail-able. The SI3000 DSL Access products can cost-effectively extend a converged IP services network that will support multicast, QoS and security to residential users.

Broadband in rural areas

The subscriber density in rural areas is low. Since it is unlikely that such areas are covered by optical fiber or a broadband wireless technology such as WiMax, it is ne-cessary to use the existing copper lines to deliver a com-plete set of telecommunications services.

The SI3000 MSAP product family can use advanced codecs to offer IPoE1 technology for 30 voice and 20 broadband channels simultaneously on a 2M link (or other appropriate transport, e.g., E1, optics, SHDSL, WiMax backhaul, etc.). Cas-cading and subtending of the SI3000 DSL Access product allows the size and location to be adjusted to the number and the distance of the broadband users. Iskratel products allow local cascading and remote subtending, which pro-vides dispersed access and the economical utilization of network resources. With such an approach, carriers and service providers can serve the largest customer service area possible and reach any potential broadband user.

Value-added multimedia services

Value-added multimedia services can upgrade broad-band-access networks. The carrier and the service provider can offer users multimedia services, which increase both revenue and customer loyalty. The delivery of voice, video and multimedia business content over packet-switching networks represents the main driving force for the ulti-mate success of any broadband (e.g. DSL-based) network. Such solutions require careful engineering on the side of the carrier or service provider. Iskratel offers turnkey solu-tions and the appropriate integration of its products into any network environment.

VoIP services

Voice services have an important influence on a user’s loyalty. It is important to remove or minimize the incon-venience associated with changed number information annunciation, distribution and realization, as well as diffi-culties with number portability. Solutions based on SI3000 DSL Access products enable voice implementation with a packet-voice delivery, such as VoIP, for both residential and business users. There are many possibilities for VoIP-based applications, convenient for business and residen-tial users; for example, IP contact centers, teleworking, and business telephony hosting.

In addition to these requirements, SI3000 DSL Access products support business-user requirements:

- High bandwidth connectivity and access services- Optical Ethernet access, a connectivity option- Ethernet connectivity and a VPN service platform

with support for SLA

It com-bines IP DSLAM with different, integrated DSL broadband technologies into a single broadband-access platform. The non-blocking broadband access provides multiple GbE in-terfaces for a connection toward the transport network.

In order to provide high-quality multimedia services the broadband-access application supports embedded QoS features, multilayer multicast functionality, and advanced security.

The subscriber broadband interfaces include the ADSL2+, SHDSL and VDSL2 that provide broadband connectivity for users at distances of several hundred meters to over 5 kilo-meters. The interconnection with the users is provided by copper pairs.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

The operator can benefit from the SI3000 MSAP product family. Due to a unique, universal platform, different broad-band-access technologies (FTTx, WiMAX, DSL, etc.) and nar-rowband-access technologies (POTS, ISDN, IP telephony) can be combined to provide end-user connectivity in the most efficient way. In addition to different access technolo-gies the operator can integrate a call server or a voice gate-way blade into the same chassis to provide call control or to interconnect to a PSTN.
