The following are my ideal characteristics that I would look for in a mentor to help me become a master in the Business Intelligence world:
Knowledge – knowledge in the math, technology and business applications needed to be a successful data scientist
Patience – sometimes it takes me a bit to completely comprehend a new concept and the mentor needs the patience to be able to give multiple examples in a real world scenario to help me understand
Caring – the mentor will truly care about making me successful in my endeavors Trust – the mentor will build the trust between us and make sure to promote me and my work as my own

PLN – My Personal Learning Network
I started a Personal Learning Network (PLN) by signing up for RSS Feeds and following professional organizations, media sources, leaders and company blogs through sites like Diigo and Feedly.
I plan to integrate some of these feeds directly into my work email/calendar as this is my main schedule location and where I am logged into the most.
Attend in person networking sessions in my area for some of these organizations, especially for WITI.
