don't have babies too young and findthe right man!”S he said how pleased she was toread the winning essays, which wereabout goal setting and had been veryimpressed with the essay from the winner, Senamile Mhlongo who had a clear, defined vision of where she wanted tobe in the future.
Hirsch, who took on the task of promoting the Girls With Dignity projectthroughout South Africa when she wonthe Business Woman of the Year Award

The concept was born when Barnesdiscovered that a large percentage ofschool girls around the country do notattend school when they are menstruating.
She has made a pack of pads thatare washable and last for five years.Hirsch's sponsored a pack for each girlat the school so that they wouldn't everhave to miss a day of school.

WEEKLY
I would like to tell you aboutmy experience of what I be-lieve is abusive behaviour inthe workplace, particularly ina business known as a “one-man-band businesses of alltypes”.
These are the kind of peo-ple who profess to run theirbusinessonafairandrespect-ful platform towards theirstaff, but in actual fact theydon’t do this.
Icangiveyoufirst-handex-perience of the most horrificincidents from employers to-wards their staff: torment, shouting, accusatory, sadisticand downright bullish andcruel behaviour.
However, theminuteacus-tomerwalksthroughthe door,theemployerturnsintoasmil-ing and charming owner.
This brings me to the nextfactor which is salaries andbonuses for the staff.
Examples of low salaries
being paid for very long hoursofworkwithno formof incen-tive or reward is the call of theday by the employer.
For some or other reasonsome employers think thatmaking their staff work for 13days in a row is acceptable.
This is not only abusive to-wards the more than hard-working employee, but it fliesin the face of everyone, be-cause the owner is living thehigh life with absolutely norecognition for the staff.
Those same staffmembersare the ones generating thishigh lifestyle for theemployer.Conveniently the “weak econ-omy” is used as an excuse bythe owner for lack of compen-sation towards the staff.
Conveniently, the employ-er knows very well that mostpeople need to work thesedays, but for some strangereason they think they havethe upper hand.
Another very unnervingexperience has been whereownerstrytogetawaywithin-discretions of all types in vari-ous fields and all that underthe cloak of God.
May I offer some verywords of advice to all employ-ees seeking employment?
Please do your homeworkon your prospective new em-ployer before you embark onyour new career.
Imyself havebeenanown-er of a very successful busi-ness. Iamfortunateenoughtoknow both sides of the work-ing situation.
With my given successfulexperience as an employer, Iknowfullwellthattheemploy-ers whom I have had to dealwith recently have a lot tolearn from the employees, who could very well be farmore competent than the em-ployers
Know your rights
Abusive employers, beware
IT’S Oscar season in South Africa and this onedoes not come with all the glitz and glamourpresented at the Academy Awards version in theUnited States.
The Oscar Pistorius case, which has its own channel on DStv, is in your face, whether you likeit or not.
There is a blow by blow account on social mediasites, the Carte Blanche channel is breaking thestory down piece by piece on their 24hour channeland every local news site is dominated by thetrial.
South Africa’s ‘trial of the century’ has begun andno matter what the outcome, citizens are interestedin some aspect of this story.
However, before Oscar season began PravinGordhan delivered the budget speech and didn’t surprise many with the results.
The word of the day being ‘increase’ petrol(again), sin taxes (alcohol and smoking) and theweakening rand.
Gordhan also said that government’s focusin 2014 is to eliminate wasteful spending andcorruption. South Africans are feeling the pinch withthe number of increases and many are looking fora silver lining. Locally, residents have complainedabout the lack of proper public transport systemsand have no cheaper option to get to places in theinterim eThekwini is trying to remedy their ongoingbus problems.
Judging by some of the comments on social media, some have decided to stop sitting around andcomplaining and are ready to make a mark comeelection time in May.

NERESH GAYAPERSHAD A bit about
DID anything great happen to you in the last24 hours? I mean something monumental...something you're so thankful for that you feltlike breaking out in song?
Go ahead, review your day.Maybe you're thinking about whether you
received any cheques in the mail or perhapsyou're just delighted because today's maildidn’t include any bills! As you consider thisquestion, you might reach the conclusion thatnothing truly spectacular occurred. But, holdon for a moment.
Did you have a place to stay last night -shielding from the elements? Imagine what itmightbe like if youandyour familydidn't havea roof over your heads. Is there a bathroom, plumbing or hot water where you live? Doesthat make your life a little more comfortable?
From the time you awoke, did you have theuseofyoureyesighttoseethesunandthebeau-tiful blue sky?
Wereyouable togetoutofbed, walkaroundand go outside? Some people won't have thatluxury today. What about your hearing?
Can you hear the sounds of the birds chirp-ing or the wind rustling through the trees? Atbreakfast, could you smell the fresh coffeebrewing or the toast after it popped up in thetoaster?
Whatwouldadaybelikeifyoucouldn'thearor smell or if you couldn't taste your food?
Yes, therearepeoplewhodon'thave the fulluse of these senses.
Andwhataboutthosethingsthataren'tnec-essarytosurvive,butthatenhanceyourday-to-day existence, items like a car, a radio, a televi-sion or a computer? Are you truly thankful fortheseandothergiftsyouregularlyuse?I'msurethat you get my point.
Eachday, wehavedozensof reasons togivethanks. Yet we generally take these things forgranted and fail to see them as precious itemsto be cherished. Of course, when any one ofthem is taken from us, even temporarily, wetake notice.
But, day in and day out, we rarely considerourblessings.WhyamImakingsuchabig fussaboutthis?It'ssimple.Whenyoufocusongrat-itudeandotherpositiveemotions, you feelbet-ter and are more relaxed, more creative andmore productive.
You also have a positive influence on thosearound you, at work and at home.It costs usnothing to be grateful and appreciative, yet ithas a considerable impact on thequality of ourlives. So, don't waste another minute. Everyday,reflectonthepricelessgiftsyou'vebeenen-joying. Openly share your gratitude with oth-ers.
And, the next time somebody asks if any-thing great happened to you today, you willhave plenty to say!

Asilindele ukuthi umfundisi wezenkolo, olindeleke ukuthi abe phambili ekubuyiseni izimvu ezilahlekile, kube nguyena okhuthaza ukuthi zingawanikezwa amalungelo afana nawabanye abantu.Ulinikwa ngubani ilungelo lokwahlulela abantubakaNkulunkulu?
Uyiqale kahle inkulumo yakhe ethi izinto ziyohamba kahle ezweni uma umphakathi uzokhethaiqembu elibeke uNkulunkulu phambili.
Kodwa usheshe wayilahla ngokuzenza ungqeqe, ecabanga ukuthi abalaleli ngeke babone ukuthiuqonde liphi iqembu uma ethi kukhona amaqembualokhu eqhakambisa abaholi asebafa.
Uqhubeke wagxeka ukuphathwa kahle kweziboshwa, wathi kufanele zijeziswe kanzima ngoba zisuke zonile. Nanxa sivumelana naye ngokuthi iziboshwa zisuke zonile, kufanele sikucabangisise ukuthi ziningi ezibhadle emajele ngamacalaezingawenzanga.
Sekukaningi sizwa ngamadoda alahlwa ngamacala okudlwengula, kodwa emva kweminyaka eminingi esejele, kuvele ubufakazi bokuthi asukeebhecwe ngobende inyama engayidlanga. Amanyeagwetshelwa ukubulala engabulalanga.
Noma kunjaloke, sikholwa ukuthi ijele yindawoyokuhlumelelisa izimilo, ukuze umuntu aphume khona eseyisidalwa esisha, abe yilungu eliqotho emphakathini.
Okunye okungafanele kugudluke emiqondweniyethu, ukuthi abanye yizimo abaphila ngaphansikwazo ezibenze bagcina emajele.
Cishe yizinkulumo ezinjengalezi esizilindele kumuntu ozibiza ngomfundisi. Hhayi lokhu kunhlanhlatha okwenziwe nguMfu Meshoe eshela abavoti.
Sesike sasho kulengosi ukuthi njengoba sekusondele ukhetho, sisazozwa izimanga, abaholi abathilebesho yonke imibhedo le abazitshela ukuthi bazoyenga ngayo abavoti.
Sibaxwayisile abantu bakithi ukuthi babagadeabaholi abazobadukisa ngokubakhohlisa. Sishilofuthi ukuthi okubuhlungu ukuthi kukhona abantu
bakithi abahlale belindele ukukhohliswa.Kufikisela amahloni okwenzeke KwaMashu
kwiNFP neIFP. Kuyoze kube yinini sibulalana sodwa.Siphakamisa izandla bantu bakithi. Sithi alwehle ulaka. Sekwanele.
Nakhonjeukuthisekwanele akulungilengobakunika umqonjwana wokuthi vele bekufanele sibulalane kodwa kungafiki esibalweni esithile.
Siyancomeka isinqumo sikaDkt MangosuthuButhelezi noNkk Zanele kaMagwaza Msibi sokuthibaxoxe ngalesi simo esibuhlungu kangaka.
Nathi siyacela ukuthi lesi simo singaqhubekingokuthi kube khona ozofuna ukuphindisela besekulahleka eminye imiphefumulo eminingi. Umasiqedana sodwa, kukhona abajabulayoabazikhohlisa ngokuthi siyobulalana sizesiphele.
Nanxa singacheme naqembu lezepolitiki, sibonasengathi izethembiso eziningi esizizwayo kubaholiabehlukene, zikhomba ukuthi kuningi okuhle okwenziwa nguhulumeni ophethe. Siyaxakeka ukuthi umakukhona abathi uhulumeni akangalokhu ekhulumangeminyaka engama20 edlule, uzoyekelani ukukhuluma ngezinto ezinhle azenzile ngoba ingwe idlangamabala. Nabo laba abaphikisayo bathembisaukwenza okuningi osekwenziwe nokusenziwa yilohulumeni ophethe.
Asisho ukuthi uhulumeni akanawo amaphutha.Umngani wami uNyikinyibhoxo uyaye athi akakazealibone isoka elingenasici.

WEEKLY REPORTER
OFFICIALS of Ilembe Darts Associationwere left redfaced after the poor turnout at the fouraside darts tournamentheld at the Action Sports Bar in Darnallon Wednesday night.
A mere 20 players converged at the
Action Sports Bar to participate in thethird darts tournament of the 2014 season resulting in two teams (comprisingof four players each) advancing to thesemi's without throwing a singledart.
Ilembe Darts Association experienceda decline in membership over the lastfive years since moving their base toDarnall with the problem reachingalarming proportions in the last two
years. Last year, a mere three clubs(comprising of six teams) comprising ofa maximum of 40 players participatedin the darts league programme.
Officials of Ilembe Darts Association, aim to find an alternative venue (preferably in KwaDukuza) in the hope of increasing their membership or take radical steps (offer more incentives) to encourage more players to participate indarts.
Failure to increase their membershipcould result in the untimely death ofcompetitive darts in KwaDukuza withthe hope of prospective playersbeing selected to participate inthe national darts championship shattered.
In the 4aside darts tournamentheld on Wednesday night, the quartetof Sanjay Singh, Sashen Naidoo, Terrence Subban and Rajesh Parasaraman
beat Jerry Govender, Charlie Pillay, Vishalin Parmasivan and Vasa Rungasamy(21) to emerge champions.
Subban was in prolific form, notching up a brilliant 171 (comprising ofthree treble 19's).
Tonight (Wednesday), Ilembe DartsAssociation will host a mixed trebles(threeaside) tournament at the ActionSports Bar in Darnall commencing at7.30pm.
