    Fundraising report

Last Tuesday room 5 had a cupcake stall which was quite successful raising over $100. We are still running the icy-polesales every Friday after lunch. We have also raised over $100 from these sales. Room 5 would like to thank everyone for

supporting them over the previous weeks. A BIG THANKS goes to the P & C for donating $500 towards our camp.

We are very excited as the time gets closer to camp and have been looking at our accommodation arrangements and

    camp activities.

Drama - Jill RickersRoom 3 have been learning the difference between Formal and Informal language.Room 4 have been working on being old. Walking, talking, gestures. Kiana did the best, most realistic, false teethdrama.Room 5 are still developing their defective plays and will perform them to Room 3 and 4, very soon.

Room 5- Monica Parkes/Leanne VinciRoom 5 is excited to have Mrs Morritt, the science teacher from John Curtin High School, back with us this termassisting us with our Science programme. Our focus this term has been looking at pure and mixed substances andseparating mixed substances. This week in Science we separated sand from sea water. Once we separated the twowe looked at how we could separate the salt from the sea water. Mrs Morritt brought some microscopes over so wecould look at salt crystals and sand.

This week we have been completing activities on chance and probability. Estimating our chance to win the 6:2 Lottogame was a little different to the real results when playing the game. We are investigating the game further by findingclass averages and frequency of numbers.

Art - Margie CampbellWeve really enjoyed working with our Artist in Residence, Louise Snook. This week we have been finalising ouramazing puppets for the Fremantle Festival Parade on Sunday and embellishing and customising our event t-shirts.For those who are able, we will be meeting at 3.15pm promptly at carpark 11 (corner of Marine and Essex Streets). There will be a $500 prize for the best dressed school, so make a huge effort to zoosh up your amazing t-shirts withadditional face paints, hair colours and ribbons ....anything you can think of! REMEMBERING IN NOVEMBER

November sees us observing a time of reflection and silence for Remembrance Dayalso known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day (the eventit commemorates) or Veterans Day. Remembrance Day is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of

civilians in times of war, -specifically since the First World War.

    SILENCE AND STILLNESS

Events or times of reflection as in the example above give us a fantastic opportunity in Bluearth to embrace being silent and being still. Many of us know through our Bluearth sessions this year that sitting still and being quiet and silent is often not that easy. Our own ability

to relax can affect this. Noises or distractions around us can affect this too. Some of us are more energetic by nature and do not findbeing still easy. But we do know that it is good for us. Allowing and giving ourselves time and a chance to be still helps to rest ourminds as well as our bodies. Being quiet gives ourselves and others chance to think, to reflect and to focus.

TRY SOME OF THE FOLLOWING IDEAS THIS MONTH:

See if you can find a quiet place to be either sitting or lying down.Try and gain control of your breathing. Notice if its a quality breath: is our breathing quick, noisy, making us move our shoulders up

and down? Or is it a quality breath, breathing slow and calm? Is our breathing wide and deep, filling as much of our stomach area as

we can?Notice your heart beat. Bring your attention to sounds and sensations around you such as the breeze in the trees if youre outside. Orthe noise of a fan if youre inside a classroom?Try and sit or lie in silence for as long as you can and see how it makes you feel. Aim to try for a little longer next time you do it.

Give it a go as part of remembering in November. Let us know how you go!

    CHAPLAINS CORNERCHAPLAINS CORNERCHAPLAINS CORNERCHAPLAINS CORNER

A YouthCARE Support Chaplain forms part of the whole school team in looking after the overall well-being of thestudents, primarily, but also that of the staff and families. To varying degrees and in a myriad of different ways, we allneed some support, encouragement and positive role models at different moments and seasons in our lives. A SchoolChaplain can provide one piece in that vital, pastoral care jigsaw operating within the whole school community.

During my recent visits to this school, I have been really impressed by the strong emphasis on, and the quality of, thepastoral care being provided by each member of the school staff. The many different ways in which each staffmember shows their genuine concern for the welfare and well-being of all the people in this school community areinspirational.

During this term I will visit your school each Tuesday morning and I really look forward to gradually getting to know asmany of you as possible. Access to the Support Chaplaincy Service will be through the School Administration Team.I consider it a privilege and a joy to be able to partner with, and serve, your school community in a variety of waysduring the school terms ahead of us.
