Magazine Advert Analysis
Electro-pop Magazine Adverts – Katy Perry
The background being a garden and having the fluffy clouds gives off a happy atmosphere surrounding her. This also conforms to the conventions of an electro-pop genre of having a ‘happy go lucky’ lifestyle.
Bold, pink, ‘bubbly’ style font is used, matches the genre and representations.
Although she is dressed in feminine coloured clothing to reach out to her female audience, we see there is also a slight cleavage shown to try and attract a male audience.
‘I kissed a girl’, associated with the colour red/pink as kissing can be associated with her lips being of a cherry colour along with her name in the font used.
Electro-pop Magazine Adverts – Lily AllenBlack and white colour theme, relates to the title of the song, ‘The Fear’.However this challenges the conventions of the genre as there are hardly any colours used in the magazine advert.
She is looking directly at the camera, to generate a relationship between the reader and herself, this also shows that she is confident and has over come ‘The Fear’.
The way Lily has been dressed up shows that she could be some kind of ghost character, we see this with the white dress and her hairstyle.
Electro-pop Magazine Adverts – Conor Maynard Youth style clothing, with hoody and
leather jacket, conforms to representations of Conor.
Simple font style used, for a simple advert, contradicts the name ‘Animal’ for a much calmer representation to the viewer.
Contrasting colours used in the artist name and album name, relates to the title of the album, ‘Contrast’.
Conor is pointing and looking in an upward direction, which could connote that there is an ‘Animal’ above.
