Camera skills and editing

Looking back at the preliminary task I have learnt a lot more now than I did then. For example I learnt new camera shots to help make my film better. When I did my preliminary task I did shots like over the shoulder, mid shot. These are basic shots but with my film I used a variety of shots that made my film more complex. For example I used the same shots as I did in the preliminary task, point of view, close up, tracking shot and many more. This has broaden my camera skills. Also with the preliminary task I used basic editing skills and didn’t look into it deeply. Now with my film the editing skills and widen. I used fades to go into other shots, put names of the individuals over the top of the scenes. This has developed my understanding of IMovie and Final Cut Pro.

Research and Planning • With research and planning it is very important to do this

before you start your film. With the preliminary task I did not do this and it was a little difficult to film because we had to make it up on the spot. But with the full product I feel like the research and planning helped me a lot. This is because I researched other horror films and what they look like. With this research it helped with ideas for the initial storyboard of our full product. Also looking up what kind of weapons the killer has, how they act and what settings horror films can be filmed in.
