I think I that the prelim task set has helped develop my final piece as I have had time to learn what the tools on Photoshop I have also adapted my knowledge of what a magazine consists of through research to help me create a better quality product. It has also aloud me to compare my music magazine to show how my skills have progressed. My prelim task allowed me to show my minimum initial knowledge of what a magazine front cover should exist. Looking back at my prelim I think it is plain and boring as it does not include enough content and does not follow any sort of style or format.

ProgressionSince creating my prelim tasks I have successfully learnt how to use the tools efficiently. I have also learned what should be included in any magazine and what should be included exclusively in a metal magazine.

Since creating my prelim cover I have spent a lot of time researching magazines in the metal genre which has allowed me to gain knowledge of the content that a good magazine should include in order to target the intended market.

I have used the tools on Photoshop to effectively with my research to produce a music magazine front cover, contents page and DPS spread of the highest possible standard.

Magazine Front Cover ImprovementsFrom my prelim task I have improved my skills on Photoshop and adapted them to produce a magazine front cover at the best of my ability using all the codes and conventions efficiently that I have learnt since creating my prelim piece.

I have improved the layout and content of my magazine vastly since my prelim task as I have had time to research what a good magazine should include. I have done this by including more detail and spreading the content out so that there is no empty space I have also added a color scheme which suits my genre of magazine.

In my opinion I think that the prelim magazine front cover has allowed me to clearly show how my magazine knowledge has gained during the time period of finishing my prelim task to finishing my coursework.

Magazine Contents Page ImprovementsFrom creating my prelim task I have used my magazine knowledge to use Photoshop efficiently in aid to produce my contents page. My prelim contents page is simple and lacks content where as my new contents page uses all the content of an already existing contents page which has been adapted in my own style.

I have used a style model to produce the layout of my magazine as I think the style model is effective. I have altered the style of my contents page and the layout slightly compared to my contents page as I think my style is more aye catchy and easier to navigate.

In my opinion the prelim contents page has allowed me to compare my coursework to show the progression and knowledge I have learnt since finishing my prelim task and show how I have adapted it to my course work.

OverallOverall I have learnt how to apply magazine research to create a professional quality magazine using a range of tools on a editing program in this case Photoshop. The prelim tasks have allowed me to clearly show the improved knowledge I have learnt since creating them when compared to my final coursework.
