The film industry is hugely global media category, moving from largely expensive Hollywood productions to smaller, low budget amateur shorts

Through the experience of making of my one minute comedy teaser trailer, it is evident that the film industry uses a lot of time and immense effort in order to reach the perfection they need when producing huge holly wood productions. There fore, when so much money, time and work has been dedicated to a production, AUDIENCES SHALL BE awarded THE OPPURTUNITY TO VIEW IT.

However, In order to create audience awareness that my trailer had been made, I need to take certain promotional steps that would gain the interest of my audience and gradually excite and encourage them to go and see my production. Consequently, I have provided a film magazine front cover and poster to promote my production trailer ‘GUS’.

The producers of ANCHORMAN 2 used a fresh and modern approach as to how they were going to promote their brilliant new sequel to anchorman 2. First, they produced a teaser trailer....

They also promoted the comedy production in a magazine feature, allowing the viewers to read about the film, the actors and snippets into what they should expect from the full production.

And a variety of movie posters spread world wide which could only go unnoticed if you lived under a rock...

As you can see, the qualities and style of all three media products are quite similar, like the language, house style and use o costume in order to maintain a recognizable bond between the products and the production they are promoting.

The main actors are presented in character, with their cheesy, familiar expressions and poses within all three of the media promotions creating a unique selling point for the film –the four globally known actors.

As you’ve already noticed, the house style throughout all three of the film promotions is quite recognizable. All products maintain the same large gold font as if to suggest that the production is of mass importance and signifies to the awaiting fans of the anchorman films of what is coming.

It is apparent that the house style of all three products would have to be the same or at least similar in order to maintain that recognizable air and excitement towards the production.

I have used similar effects in order to make my production promotions as successful at these product promotions which have inspired me with my own simple yet effective house style for my audience.

FONT I utilised the unchanged font from adobe Photoshop to form my

title ‘GUS’. I thought that the simple, boldness of the font alone was a clear representation of my protagonist ’Gus’ with his bold characteristics and simple appearance and that it would indeed attract attention to my comedy production as it was bright, easy to see and became recognizable as I continued to use it throughout all three of my promotion products. I used a bright yellow font colour which I felt would highlight the comedy atmosphere that I wanted to produce through my promotional products, which i feel has worked out very well as from feed back from my target audience, it has promoted these qualities well.

Colour SCHEME

The colour scheme I chose to work with was bright, attention grabbing and full of light hearted humour, as this is WHAT THE STORY LINE WAS LIKE AND what I wanted to promote about my production.

I chose to work with a bright yellow, as it maintained the balance of comedy and that atmosphere of a high school comedy, which is what my trailer was about.

I also used black and white, which helped me balance out the contrast between the brightness of the main colour and created a recognizable colour scheme that my audience became familiar with.

GENRE AS MY FILM IS BASED ON A COMING OF AGE COMEDY , I needed to

maintain a light hearted humour throughout and make it believable TO MY AUDIENCE. Therefore, I needed A REALISTIC FORM OF BACKDROP WHICH WOULD PORTRAY A LITLE INSIGHT TO MY CHARACTER’S PERSONALITY AND MAINTAIN A SENSE OF HUMOUR.

I DECIDED TO USE A SIMPLE, INTELLIGANT BACKDROP TO SHOW THAT MY CHARACTER –DEPITE HIS SILLY AND CLUMSY PERSON- WS MOVED SCHOOLS BECAUSE OF BEING OVERLY INTELLIGANT. I USED TWO BACKDROPS IN MY POSTER AND MAGAZINE WHICH CONTAIN MATHMATICAL EQUATIONS TO SHOW THIS, AND MAINTAIN THAT SIMILARITY FOR MY AUDIENCE TO RECONGIZE AND FOLLOW.

LANGUAGE WITH REGARDS TO MY USE OF LANGUAGE, I WANTED TO CREATE A

SENSE OF UPLIFTING AND FOND HUMOUR WHICH WOULD ENABLE MY AUDIENCE TO GROW ATTACHED TO MY CHARCTERS.

The voice and dialogue of my character ‘gus’ was quite stereotypically nerdy, which made him memorable and lovable throughout all three of my production promotions as his expressions always looked as though he was about to say one of his famous phrases ‘those guys think I'm a dork?!’

I kept his voice over's short and memorable, which seem to have worked well, due to the repetitive audience feedback including some of their favourites.

Through the magazine cover, I used language such as ‘MEET GUS!’ AND ‘COMEDYS NEWEST STAR!’ TO ATTRACT THE ATTENTION OF THOSE WHO HADN’T ALREADY SEEN THE TRAILER AND MAYBE CATCH THEIR INTEREST AND CAUSE THEM TP GO AND WATCH IT. I THEN ADDED SAYINGS SUCH AS ‘think you’re dork enough?’ into the poster as it almost challenges the audience to watch the production and causes them to want to see what all the commotion is about.

To conclude, I feel that my three media production promotion maintain a recognizable and effective house

style between them and I feel that due to audience feed back, that it has turned out very successful.
