The Cost Indices for various places in India as approved by the Chief Engineer for the
concerned zone is annexed herewith for the PAR 01.01.1992 as 100 up to the year
2007.
Every DVO should identify the places where the cost index is likely to be required
within his jurisdiction and keep a record of the Cost Index as of Ist June of all such
places and this information issued by S & S Unit, CPWD consists of approved index
on every year in the month of June.
The valuation officer identify as many places as possible nearest to the place where
the CPWD has approved Cost Indices for many years. These places should be within
a hundred kilometre radius (preferably, within fifty kilometre) of the concerned place.
Hence, if the location, for which the derivation of cost index to be referred, is in
between two places identified in the approved cost index, either the cost index at a
particular time should be calculated by interpolation of the previous and subsequent
cost Indices and as well as between two locations. The CPWD cost index proforma
as on 01.06.2001 for New Delhi is enclosed herewith as reference.
For the material rate and labour rate, the CPWD had published Schedule of Rates for
2001, and this can be taken as reference for the working of revised CPWD proforma
as on 01.01.1996 with CPWD PAR 01.01.1992.
