    GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH(Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod)

    LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSASJune 9, 2013

    THE THIRD SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

    PRAYER UPON ENTERING CHURCH

    Lord of life, my Savior Jesus Christ, You have brought life and immortality to light throughYour suffering, death and resurrection. You have given hope to me through the forgiveness of mysins. Grant that I find comfort in Your promises and empower me to share Your comforting Good

    News with others who struggle in matters of life and death, for You live and reign with the Father andthe Holy Spirit, one God, now and forevermore. Amen

    WELCOME

    We welcome you this morning to Grace! It is indeed good for you to be here today. Maythe Lord bless your time as you hear His Word and respond with hymns, praise and thanksgiving as

    your faiths response to the Good News of forgiveness and life. If you are not a member of Grace anddesire to learn more about our teachings as drawn from Gods Word, please speak with our Pastor. Once again we are glad you are here and we invite you to come and worship with us again.

    We ask that everyone fill out an attendance registration card found at each pew and return itto an Usher as the Offering is collected. Restrooms are located on the lower level of this building oracross the bridge on this floor level before entering the fellowship hall. Children are welcome in ourService and will be invited to come forward for a Childrens Message. Parents may accompany them

    if they wish. A nursery for infants and toddlers is located downstairs for anyone who has need. If youhave any questions please speak with an Usher or Greeter.

    HOLY COMMUNION

    Holy Communion will be celebrated in the 8:15 Service today. In this sacrament we receiveChrists very body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. Those who are not members of Grace areasked to speak with our Pastor before partaking of this sacrament so that the unity of faith might beestablished. Thank you for honoring this request.

    AS WE GATHERCan you imagine what it must have been like to be in the funeral procession that day in Nain?

    Jesus interrupts the processional as it passed through the gate of the town and causes the pall bearersto come to a halt. Having compassion on the widow following close by her sons coffin, Jesustouches the bier and says, Young man I say to you, arise. With that, the dead man sat up and beganto speak! Utterly astonished, all the mourners can do is to glorify God. As amazing as this event is,

    even more remarkable is Jesus being raised from the dead after three days in the grave. Jesusresurrection means life eternal for the once dead young man, his widow mother, you, and all who callupon His name. This Good News becomes our power to praise God and serve Him by bearing witnessto His love and mercy shown to all through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    Nicene Creed (8:15)

    C I believe in one God,

    the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth

    and of all things visible and invisible.

    And in one Lord Jesus Christ,

    the only-begotten Son of God,

    begotten of His Father before all worlds,

    God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God,

    begotten, not made,

    being of one substance with the Father,

    by whom all things were made;

    who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven

    and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary

    and was made man;

    and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate.

    He suffered and was buried.

    And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures

    And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church,

    Our LWML Evening Guild Lutheran World ReliefProject this year is School Kits. These kits provide the only supplies for children returning to school after the disruptionof war or they help parents continue their childrens education while living in a refugee

    camp. We have most of the items that we need to make 20 school kits. To completethese kits we are in need of the following:

    70-sheet bound notebooks of wide or college-ruled paperpencil sharpenersblunt scissors

    We are also in need of volunteers to make school bags for thesesupplies. Easy patterns for the bags can be found in the breezeway.

    After we fill these kits we will provide the complete list to makeadditional School Kits. Thank you for supporting our LutheranWorld Relief Projects. Contact Ginny Ralston at 425-1487 if you

    have questions.
