*THE AFFIRMATION OF FAITHPastor: Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is the one true church, apostolic and universal, whose holy faith let us now declare:All: We believe in God the Father,

infinite in wisdom, power and love, whose mercy is over all his works, and whose will is ever directed to his children’s good.

We believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of man,the gift of the Father’s unfailing grace, the ground of our hope, and the promise of our deliverance from sin and death.

Page 5: June 26 Bulletin

We believe in the Holy Spiritas the divine presence in our lives, whereby we are kept in perpetual remembranceof the truth of Christ, and find strength and help in time of need.

We believe that this faith should manifest itselfin the service of loveas set forth in the example of our blessed Lord,to the endthat the kingdom of God may come upon the earth.

Amen.

*GLORIA PATRI Hymnal #70Glory be to the Father

and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;as it was in the beginningis now, and ever shall be,

world without end.Amen. Amen.

THE CALL TO PRAYER

A TIME OF SILENCE (for personal prayer)

THE COMMUNITY AT PRAYER (in unison)God of loving welcome,

we admit that we are not always as kind and acceptingas Christ calls us to be.

We yearn to extend the hand of friendship, but sometimes shy away.

We cry for peace on earth, but sometimes wage war in our own cruel ways.

We seek community and love, but then offer only small parts of ourselves.

Where we are afraid, strengthen us to bravely reach out to others.

Where we are angry, love us that we may be kind and forgiving.

Where we are sad, comfort us that we may seek new joy.

Where we are in doubt, encourage us with your steadfast faithfulness.

Page 6: June 26 Bulletin

Guide us to walk in your ways, that we may truly love and accept others, even as we have been loved and accepted by you.

In Christ’s name we pray.Amen.
