FROM THE BOARD CHAIRMAN
Dear Members and Friends of Wright Church,
Wright Congregational Church's traditional practice of"calling" a pastor affirms the active presence of God's Spirit in thesearch process. We prayerfully seek a pastor with particular giftsand skills, while recognizing that candidates are also engaged in aSpirit-led discernment process. Thus our church enters into acovenant with a new pastor always knowing that God eventuallywill lead that pastor to a new setting.
In the days that have elapsed since Pastor Mike Blackannounced his retirement, we have been keenly aware of God'snew calling for him, even as we have experienced a profound senseof loss. It is not easy to think about ending a Spirit-filled sixteenyear ministry. These next five months together will be a precioustime, and we will inform you about our plans for special events tocelebrate Pastor Mike's ministry.
Members of the Church Board have already been approached bysome of you with the daunting question, "Pastor Mike is leaving, what will we do?" We want to assure you that we have alreadybeen in touch with our Conference i11inister,Walter John Boris toreview the Search and Call process. We will schedule a meeting ofour Church Officers and Committee Chairs to hear directly fromWalter John about DCC procedures during a time of pastoraltransition. IiI the rI1eantinle, Walter John suggested that we sharewith you this brief overview:
1. We will select an interim pastor to provide continuity inworship, pastoral care, and program/staff oversight. WalterJohn will advise us on this process; he has assured us thatt.: has several excellent candidates available ... 1~~ otter 41~~TIt: TI . ..,.t:Y rut eA,(; usnt UTlUtUUtl:-~ YUU uu: WTlU '.IJt:'- cnespecialized skills needed during a transition time. Thispastor will not be a candidate for the "settled" position.
2. After the interim pastor is in place, we will initiate a searchprocess for a new pastor in accordance with our bylaws. Wewill invite all of you to be part of a self-study that willidentify our church's pastoral needs. And we will develop achurch profile for our potential candidates.
3. Our Conference office will advertise our vacancy amongUCC clergy all across the country. Our search committeewill read ministerial profiles, screen candidates, conduct:·"~J'WI""-·l·--.01 .•• .., check -r--- ce~ a J ....•.....•.....•.•..••.•tal. · ~ 1_".. -trtcer v t:w~, cr. Fornow, let us express our gratitude to God for Pastor Mike's ministryand enter into a time of celebration with Mike and Tami, and theirfaniily. IN LOVING MEMORYRobert Dale "Bobby B." Brown
1924-2012
We celebrated the long life of our dear friend Bob Brown with a Memorial Servicehere at the church on Sunday afternoon, April 1. Bob passed away on March 25, at the ageof 88.
Bob was nearly a life-long resident of Boise, graduating from Boise High, and laterfrom Boise Junior College. He was quite an athlete, both in High School and College, excelling in basketball, track, and football. After graduating from Boise High in 1942, Bobserved in the Army during World War IT, mostly stationed with the Signal Corps inLondon. After returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Maxine Cummingsin 1946, and they were husband and wife for 48 years, until her death in 1994. Born tothem were their two children, Lynette and Scott, and through them, 3 grandchildren and 6great-grandchildren.
Bob's work life included careers with Associated Foods in Boise, the accountingteam at the Commissary at Mountain Home AFB, and finally many years with theUniversity of Idaho Extension Service in Boise and Caldwell.
50 years ago this month, Bob and Maxine joined our church. Through the yearsBob sang in the choir, was an usher, and even served a couple of years as ChurchTreasurer. He was a faithful, joyful participant in all we did together.
Bob also was a longtime member of the Elks, Masons, Shriners-as well as a bowler, camper, fisherman, and avid BSU Bronco Fan. Bob, we will always be glad for your happypresence among us, and know you are at home and at peace with your Savior.

PILGRIM COVE FOUNDATION BOARD REPORT
April 23, 2012
Submitted by: Carl Van Slyke, Board Member
On March 31, the Idaho Association and people from most of the AssociationChurches met with the Pilgrim Cove Foundation Board to dialogue about issueswhich had arisen over the past several months. We were led in this process byConference Minister Walter John Boris and Retired Conference Minister GeneRoss. After considerable discussion and small group work, the issues whichrose to high priority were:
1. Youth camps, cost for campers, cost for staff (counselors, directors, etc.)2. Finances including the debt load and meeting mortgage payments and
Board Treasurer position (we need one)3. Communication among the Foundation Board members and between the
Board and the Idaho Assn. Churches and their members, and moretransparency. Board minutes will be e-mailed to the Idaho AssociationChurches in a timely fashion.
These items are being addressed at the current time.
The Board welcomed new members Patricia Maloney from Challis UCC andDewayne Mayer from New Plymouth UCC.
As noted elsewhere the Idaho Association UCC Church Camps for thePilgrims, Sojourners, and the Exodus Camp will be held the week of July 8-14 atPilgrim Cove.
If you would like a copy for the minutes check with the Church Office or withany Pilgrim Cove Foundation Board member.

Please come and help UCC children and young people attend Pilgrim Cove Campfrom July 8 to 14, 2012. The camp is not able to cover the cost of the counselorsnext summer without raising rates for each child. All proceeds above the cost of
the spaghetti will be used to lower the cost for UCC children to attend PilgrimCove Camp. This is a great way to provide spots at the camp for as many of our
young ones as possible!
