SEARCH COMMITTEE NEWS FLASH Eating! Sharing! Searching! April 7! The Settled Pastor Search Committee is hard at work. Our current project is writing the Congregation Profile. This is a document that tells a bit about our past, our current ministries, and what we would like to be in the future. It will be shared with every candidate for our settled pastorate to help them get to know us. To get us started on this task, the Search Committee will lead worship on Sunday April 7th and raise the question, "What do you think?" This will be a good time for members of the congregation to get a sense of the work of the committee as they share their thoughts about the search process. But, we need your help to get the profile done. Each of you will be given this opportunity at a Potluck Fellowship Lunch following worship at 11:15 AM. This will be a COMPLETE potluck, which is to say, bring what you like and see what luck we have. Bring a main dish, a side dish or salad, or a desert to share. We would like everyone to plan to spend no more than two hours following worship. We will enjoy a potluck meal together, fellowship around the table, and then participate in a couple of activities that will provide input to the Congregation Profile. This is your opportunity to give input to this important step as we secure settled pastoral leadership for Wright Congregational UCC. We will also be handing out a form on Sunday mornings to get demographic information from each family unit. For those of you who are unable to attend worship, someone from the Search Committee will be contacting you to get your ideas. We look forward to seeing and hearing from you on April 7!

Our church needs a person who…

W'rocking Wright – 1950’s Bash It is time to start thinking about W'rocking Wright and going back to the 50's for

food, fun, old cars, silent auction, dessert auction, and games for kids of all ages.

Mark your calendars now, Saturday, June 22, 2013, and be thinking of a silent

auction item to donate.

Reports and Meetings

Notes from the Board

“Only God can make a tree.” Many of us will soon be pruning and spraying our fruit trees in anticipation of Spring, with hopes of a bumper crop of fruit. Our Christian faith is like a fruit tree. Our faith is planted by and rooted in the word of God; our faith grows with God’s love and care, our faith benefits from being with other Christians. In due time and in the right season, our faith brings forth fruit for the harvest. Knowing God is watching over his faithful, we conduct the business of the Church.

Have you felt the renewed spirit of our Church? Our Palm Sunday Service, followed by a lively fellowship brunch is just one example. Our Community Supper, our planning for the upcoming summer celebration are other examples. If you have you have been unable to actively participate, we invite you to revisit our Church.

If you are unable to attend, our services are available on our web site.

Our settled pastor search committee is continuing the search process. We are currently completing our Church Profile. We have planned an event where each person will be given an opportunity to express their hopes, thoughts and opinions as to our Church’s future. This is your Church and you can help give direction as to what we are looking for in our settled pastor.

With Easter, hope springs eternal. Once we endure the sadness of Jesus’ fate, we gain God’s promise. Let us go forth with God’s guidance and produce the fruit of the Spirit.

Respectfully submitted,

Will Patterson, Board Chair

NEXT BOARD MEETING: Wednesday, April 25 at 7:00 pm in the social hall. It is important that all committee chairpersons be present – we need your input. If you are unable to make the meetings please send a committee member with any reports you may have.

Each committee should have at least one member besides the chair. Please let the office know who your committee people are in case we are unable to reach the chairperson.

We know that there is a great need for this ministry as each month the number of community participants is rising. Please contact Julie Patterson if you are interested in volunteering or contributing to the work of the Bench Supper ministry team.

Personal Touches

Celebration of Jay Sanderson's Ministry On behalf of the Idaho Association, Boise First will host an Affirmation of Ministry Service for Licensed Minister Jay Sanderson on Saturday, April 20th at 11 am at First Congregational UCC in Boise. This service will be a time for our community, association and conference to come together to affirm Jay's ministry during the past decade, and offer thanks for his continued commitment to ministry.

Jay has been a popular preacher at Wright and will be preaching here again in May. The event on April 20 will be a chance for all of us to recognize the contribution he has made to the life of our church community. Members and friends of Wright Church who have been touched by Jay are encouraged to attend this special celebration. A reception will follow the service. To RSVP, please contact the Wright Church Office by April 14th and we will forward a collective RSVP to Boise First.

Prayer Chain The Prayer Chain maintains a quiet ministry for our church, lifting up the needs of members and friends in time of struggle. If you have a request for prayer, contact the church office or Maxine Palmer.

Thank you for all the cards, phone calls, visits and food. I have felt lots of love from the wonderful people of Wright Church during my recovery from knee replacement.

Jama Capshaw

Thanks again to Jerry Card for his craftsmanship in the making of the new blue signage for the reader board. We now have signs for the Bench Supper and the Rummage Sale. These new signs allow us to post more on the reader board and draw attention to special events.

Our CHOIR now meets on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm. All voices are welcome. They will get a break on April 3 but will still sing on April 7.
