READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE CUTTING FABRICS AND TRIMS NOTE: A. All seams are 114" unless otherwise indicated. B. Serge or zigzag all seams. ** A ladies half-slip can be used with some adjustment. See Step 21. DRESS CONSTRUCTION:

1. Sew tucks on bodice fronts. Press tucks toward the armhole on each bodice front.

2. Turn under the center front facing and press. Cross the right front bodice over the left front bodice at the "dot" and the notches at the waist. Pin to hold in place, then stitch the two bodices together by lifting up the right neckline pleat and stitching on the stitch line of the pleat from the "dot" to the waistline.

3. Staystitch across the bottom of the tucks between the notches.

4. With the center front facing folded under, sew the front and back bodice together at the shoulder seams. Yes, the front facings are included in the seams.

S. With right sides together, sew the back neck facing to the back bodice neck only. Trim seam to 1/S", turn and press.

6. Press the bodice shoulder seams to the back bodice. Fold under back bodice neck facing 1/4" and hand stitch to the shoulder seams.

7. Sew a 1/S" hem on each lower sleeve allowance from the "dot" to the wrist. See Pattern.

S. Sew two rows of gathering stitches across the top and bottom of each sleeve.

9. Fold the sleeve cuffs on the fold line and stitch across each end seam, trim seams, turn and press.

10. Pull up gathers on the lower sleeve to fit the cuff. Pin and sew cuff to sleeve, leaving the cuff lining free. Turn under lining 1/4" and hand stitch to the sleevelcuff seam. Prepare both cuffs.

11. Pull up gathers of the sleeve cap to fit the armscye. Pin and sew sleeves to bodice.

12.Sew the bodice side seams and the sleeve seams to the "dot".

13. Pleat the top edge of the skirt. Press under center back seam allowances, which are used as skirt facings.

14. Pin and sew skirt and facings to the bodice and facings. Then sew 14" of clear elastic to the waist seam allowance using a zigzag stitch.

1S.Sew snaps on the dress back and on each sleeve cuff. Blind stitch a 2" hem on the skirt.

PANTIES CONSTRUCTION: 16.Sew the center front and center back

seams. 17.Zigzag SIS" lace to the edge of each leg. 1S.Sew the crotch/inseam. 19. Turn under and sew the waist casing

leaving an opening to insert 1/S" elastic. Insert elastic and lap the ends one over the other. Hand stitch the ends together.

20.Close the casing opening with a machine stitch.

HALF SLIP: 21.lt is easiest to purchase a size small

ladies half slip and adjust the waist elastic. If the slip is too long and full, cut off the top and sew gathering stitches across the top. Pull up gathers and zigzag 12" of lingerie elastic to the waist edge.

22.lf you wish to make a slip, cut nylon tricot or batiste 4S" X 1S".

23.Zigzag SIS" lace to the bottom edge of the slip.

24. Sew the center back seam. 2S.Sew gathering stitches and finish as

directed in Step 21.

LACE DICKIE: 26. Use 1 yard of 6" wide bridal lace. Sew a

row of gathering stitches 1/2" from the top. Pull up gathers to measure about S". Sew a row of short stitches over the gathering row to stabilize.

27. Pin the dickie inside the dress at the shoulder seams.

BROACH: 27.Find a fancy button and glue a corsage pin to the back. Overall length of button should not be more than 1 1/S" long.
