Children in Year 3 are given results from Band 1 to Band 6. Children in Year 5 are given results from Band 3 to Band 8. On this “one off” test over 3 days, our results for Year 3 are as follows:

To the Prouille community thank you for a fantastic and rewarding term. I thank you for your support this term, especially with the school musical and for the teachers as their guide your children through their learning journey. I am very excited about the learning that is being organised by the teachers for Term 4 and thank you and the staff in advance for your support as I step into the role of Acting Principal during Sue’s long service leave.

OIARY DINNER TABLE MATHS Measure items found around the house. Have your child find objects that are longer or shorter than a shoe or a string or a ruler. Together, use a shoe to measure the length of a floor mat. Fill different containers with sand in a sandbox or with water in the bath, and see which containers hold more and which hold less.

Make a weather graph. Have your child draw pictures on a calendar to record each day’s weather. At the end of the month, make a picture graph showing how many sunny days, cloudy days, and rainy days there were in that month.

Have a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday.

Dear Parents and Friends,

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION We wish to congratulate all those children who have prepared themselves to receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit and who fulfilled this Sacrament on Sunday. You demonstrated reverence, respect and a beautiful connection to the Spirit throughout the celebration. We are all very proud of you!

MISSION MONTH – CANDELA STALL Mrs Mary Rajca will visit on Monday 15th October (Week 1 of Term 4), to speak to the students about the work of the Sisters of Mercy in the shanty town of Candela in Lima, Peru.

The mission in Candela helps women through a program that teaches them to make beautiful handicrafts. The sale of these crafts gives the women an income so they can provide for their families. There will be a sale of the beautiful handicrafts that the women have made during the week. All items cost between $2 - $10.

All funds raised go back to the women who have made the goods. This money is used by the women to buy basic necessities for their families. Our school has supported the Candela mission and much has been done to improve the lives of these women and their families. Your support of the mission is greatly appreciated.

LAST CHANCE TO BUY

SOME CRAZY SOCKS!!!!

What: Year 6 Stall

When: Thursday 18th October

(Week 1)

$4 PER PAIR – BARGAIN!!!

Socktober - CRAZY SOCK DAY IS ON FRIDAY 26th OCTOBER

Prouille will ‘sock it to poverty’ on Friday 26th October (Week 2 of Term 4) We invite all children to participate in this special cause by bringing in a gold coin donation for Catholic Mission and wearing some crazy socks on the day!

Catholic Mission’s 2018 World Mission Month Appeal is propelled by Pope Francis’ annual World Mission message, which reminds us that each one of us is Mission, and we are called to play our part.

This year students in Catholic schools across Australia are invited to partake in World Mission Month celebrations by supporting the work of Catholic Mission in Myanmar, as we come together in prayer and understanding to help “heal a nation through education.”

SOCCER CHALLENGE – A NEW INITIATIVE! In order to further support our focus on ‘accompaniment’ and stepping into the shoes of those who need our assistance the most, Dorothy Makasa (Mission Education Officer – CSO), will be running some workshops for the children to deepen their understanding of the reasons why we are raising money for the community of Myanmar. These workshops and presentations allow for children to be ‘hands on’ in the engagement phase of understanding what it’s truly like to be in the position of children in Myanmar.

On Friday 26th October (when we will be wearing our crazy socks ), we will be having a Soccer Penalty Shootout. You are invited to sponsor your child for these shootouts, as a means to raise further awareness of the need for Education in Myanmar. The children will be raising points from their goals, for their Colour House!!!

The Prouille Catholic School Registration Page is ready to go via the Catholic Mission Website. All you need to do is include your child/children’s first name and first initial of their last name. Then…sponsor away!! Feel free to investigate the website further over the holiday period. We are aiming for EVERY child at Prouille to be registered and ready to go for 26th October!!

ARE YOU AVAILABLE TO BE A GOAL KEEPER ON THE DAY?? (just a bit of fun!!) Please let Miss Russell know via the office ASAP if you can volunteer your time

PLEASE NOTE: CHANGE OF DATE FOR THE KINDY CLASS LITURGY (postponed to Tuesday 30th October @ 2pm) Due to the busy nature of the end of this Term, Fr David has kindly swapped our Kindy Class Liturgy in the school Chapel from Tuesday 25th September to Tuesday 30th October at 2pm (Week 3 of Term 4).

As always, all are welcome to attend. We hope you can make it!

PLENARY COUNCIL Next Term, we will be arranging two sessions whereby Parents will be invited to come and engage in small groups for Listening and Dialogue encounters. All people connected with the Catholic Church are invited to reflect on the question:

“What do you think God is asking of us in Australia at this time?”

YOUR VOICE IS IMPORTANT!

Your experience of faith and the Church is important. All people are invited to contribute to the Plenary Council agenda by sharing your experience of faith and of the Church. Read about how you can #shareyourstory at plenarycouncil.catholic.org.au. Keep checking out this section within each Newsletter to receive the dates for our Parent Plenary Sessions for Term 4! Warm regards,
