Recording

• We asked someone to record our radio advert who we thought matched our ‘voice criteria’ and recorded her in the radio room. We did this as we thought it would give us the best sound possible so we have a professional standard of work. The room is also sound proof so we didn’t pick up any background noise.

Basic EditI then imported the audio file of the voice over and cut it so I could add in the vox pops I wanted to use. I copied and pasted the vox pops from our documentary, the vox pops were people saying their favourite cake as the narration says “which cakes are the most popular?”. I also imported the song into the radio advert and cropped it after 30 seconds. By using vox pops I managed to extend the radio advert to 30 seconds so it now fits the radio advert criteria.

Sound editing

• To enhance the sound in certain areas (such as turning the music down or turning the voice up) I would right click the clip I wanted to change then click ‘audio gain’ and slide the number to the desired volume. This meant I could edit more professionally and edit individual audios specifically to how I desired. This meant I could create the best possible radio advert as I had the freedom to develop the sound.

Adding a title card.• I took a screenshot of

the title card that features in our documentary. I then imported this into the sequence my radio advert features in. I then extended the length of time the image appears for. This will now show the examiner that the radio advert belongs to the ‘A Piece of Cake’ documentary.

To create the extra title ‘Radio advert for…’ I clicked title – new title – default still. This then opened up a menu that allowed me to add text to the chosen frame.

Now the radio advert is complete. Everything has been edited properly and the time scales are exactly 20 seconds. I can now upload it to YouTube where it will be put onto my blog.

I then clicked the spot on the image where I wanted the title to appear and typed in ‘Radio advert for…” I then used the option panel at the side to change the font, colour and size of the text.

YouTube .

• Here is the radio advert uploaded to YouTube. It can now be accessed by the public which will hopefully give us a variety of audience feedback.
