Continuity and Consistency of the style

I wanted the production pieces (Trailer, Poster and Magazine Cover) to work together as a one product in order to promote the Film and enticing the audience to view it. To do this, throughout all products I focused on creating clear consistencies linking them.

The first production piece we created was the Film trailer, we researched many areas to aid in the creation of the productions, such as existing films merchandise and large scale companies marketing campaigns as well as the trailers of smaller more independent films such as "Trainspotting" and "Fish Tank". When planning the filming of the trailer we decided on scenes and locations which we could also use for our ancillary tasks, this helped when it came to capturing images for these as we had many shots already set up.

The basic consistency between my production pieces are the locations, this we hoped, would subconsciously tie links for the viewers, so even from a quick glance they would see the Magazine Cover or Poster and think of the trailer and the film. From a audience survey I undertook it is clear that many of those who viewed each product could clearly see the similarity between the location and link the production pieces together.

Continuity and Consistency of the style

Before the editing process I decided on a colour scheme to use throughout the main and ancillary tasks as I felt it would create uniformity between the pieces. The colour scheme I choose was primarily GREEN and RED as they connoted jealousy and danger as well as fitting into the location and plot of the film.

The GREEN appears multiple times within the trailer including our production logo, character introduction and title scene. On the poster it appears within the parts directly linked to film such as the Title, Caption and the characters clothing. As the magazine cover is mainly linked to Empire magazine the GREEN appears once on the Film Title.

The RED also appears on each production piece but most heavily the ancillary tasks, mainly magazine cover, within the Film Trailer it appears during the character introduction and the nomination billing. For the poster its on the external quotes from magazines and newspapers. RED appears most often within the Magazine Cover as Empire uses it as their primary colour.

The combination of my main product and ancillary texts

The combination of my production pieces form the marketing campaign for “Old Habits Die Hard”. A "marketing campaign" for a film is the different ways in which the films message to potential audiences are conveyed and the forms in which they are conveyed through.

For this unit of work my market campaign included a Trailer, Poster and Magazine cover and through the use of similarities and consistencies as well as the use of conforming to conventions I feel that my combination of production pieces were highly successful.

I believe this due to the research I under took proving similarities and conventions are key in successful advertisement of a film, when this advertisement is working the film becomes all most a brand with high end examples such as Avatar and Aliens.http://zacha2media.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/analysis-of-avatars-marketing-campaign.html
