A Brief History

Spelman College is a private, independent, liberal arts, historically Black college for women.

The college was founded in 1881 with a mission to provide the highest level of education of Black women in the South

Events and activities are held throughout the year. There are more than 100 registered student organizations; includes seven Greek letter organizations.
