President’s Message December 2013
Chilly Winter weather has found us.
Hopefully everyone is surviving the chilly
nights and frost covered mornings.
November took us out of our mild Fall
weather and into Winter. It gave us an-
other opportunity to give back to our
community by volunteering at EFN (The Emergency Food Network)
where our team repackaged 6,400 pounds of frozen corn in 2.5
hours! There was also a fun time at the Spanaway Eagles with Pull
Tab Mania, another fun trip out to the Rainier View Winery, and club
elections. I'd like to thank everyone that decided to take a chance a
run for office. Congratulations to our new Executive Committee for
2014:
President-Missy Willert
Vice-President-Dennis Willert
Secretary-Charlene Rivera
Treasurer-Nancy Freeman

Tip of the Month:

PCMC Raffle Update — November
Mustang of the Month Jason Dingledine
2013 Boss 302
Pony News December 2013
Page 6
My interest in the Mustang started as a kid, hearing my father talk
about his '70 Fastback that he had before I was born. When I
turned 16, started looking for a 60's Stang, but it wasn't in the
cards at the time. After I enlisted in the Army, and was stationed
here at Fort Lewis, I was finally able to purchase my first Mustang,
a 2005 V6 automatic in Windveil Blue. I had that car from May
2009 through November 2012, and the only mods I made were a
Pypes dual exhaust and JLT CAI, with a Bama Performance Tune
(all from American Muscle).
During my 4th deployment, I found out that Ford was discontinuing
the Boss 302 from it's product line. I started looking in earnest for one to purchase once I returned
home. I wanted to purchase it from Lakewood Ford, as they had taken good care of my wife and I
when we purchased her Ford Edge. They weren't able to make any trades with another dealership, so I
was forced to go elsewhere. I found my 2013 Boss 302 at Bellevue Ford, and the rest as they say is
history. I didn't even test drive it before starting the paperwork.
I asked my daughter Antoinette to give the new car a name, and she chose
Evelyn. Being an 80's kid, I had to put my own twist on it, so I stayed with
Evelyn, but spell it Evil-Lyn (He-man reference for us 80's brats). She is Boss
#2235, and is one of less than 300 cars built with the Recaro seat/Torsen Dif-
ferential package in Performance White paint. The only mod I've made so far
is to add the MMD hood struts, so I don't have to use the annoying prop stick
when the hood is open. The next two mods will be a one-piece aluminum
driveshaft, and the Raxiom in-dash replacement navigation system. Sub-frame
connectors and other suspension upgrades will follow later.
Evil-Lyn is my daily driver, but she has seen a small amount of Auto-cross
track time. In the spring, I plan on doing the Hooked on Driving class out at
The Ridge, and doing more road course driving.

Club members at the November meeting formally adopted the following organizations to receive
proceeds from the 2013 annual car show at a level of $1,000 each.
EMERGENCY FOOD NETWORK
EFN provides more than 15.1 million healthy, nutritious meals annually at no cost to over 67
food banks, hot meal sites and shelter for distribution to low income families and individuals.
In 2012, programs in their network accommodated 1,381,602 total visits. EFN spent neatly
$1.45 per visit to assure that each time a community member walked into a food program with
nothing, they walked out with enough food for 11 meals.
With an administrative overhead of under 4%, EFN distributes $12 worth of food for every $1
received….that means PCMC’s donation of $,1000 equals $12,000 toward EFN’s goal “that no
person goes hungry.
PUYALLUP VALLEY ST. FRANCIS HOUSE
Offering hope and eases hardships of those in need in East Pierce County. They exist to im-
prove the lives of those in need by offering the following services and programs:
Clothing Bank provides gently used clothing and household items to families
Furniture Bank provides beds, tables, chairs and other items to families who otherwise would
have to eat and sleep on the floor.
Meal Program serving 5 dinners to the homeless each week serving over 12,000 meals annually.
Back to School Program served 917 students with a back pack, supplies & a new outfit.
Small Food Bank to tide families over while they wait for assistance from larger banks.
Emergency Assistance Fund to assist with utilities, rent, gas or bus vouchers.
CARING FOR KIDS
Caring for Kids is an all volunteer organization helping kids in need in Lakewood, Joint Base
Lewis McChord, Steilacoom and University Place. All money and in-kind donations go directly to
helping kids. They provide school supplies, clothing, hygiene and dental products, food, books,
ready to learn materials and holiday gifts. In addition they also collaborate with the Methodist
Church Friday Dinners, the Fish Food Bank and the Food Connection Food Truck in Springbrook.
Many of you will remember that Caring for Kids was this year’s recipient of PCMC’s School
Back Pack & Supply drive associated with our annual car show and received $291 from the
50/50 raffle.
SANTA’S CASTLE
While not receiving a cash donation, Santa’s Castle is the targeted charity for this year’s toy
drive held inconjuction with the Fantasy Lights cruise and Holiday Gathering. Please bring an un-
wrapped gift to either event. In special need are gift cards, items of interest to teenagers, books
for all ages, board games, infant items.
Sponsored by volunteers of the 191st Infantry Brigade Santa’s Castle has provided Christmas
to children of Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, active National Guard and Reserve
families (E-4 and below) experiencing financial difficulty. Nearly 900 families received gifts in
2012.

November 9th found 15 volunteers dawning warm gloves covered with plastic gloves and the
ever so attractive hair nets as they tackled repacking blocks of frozen kernel corn into smaller
packages.. The thank you note from EFN notes that 6,400 pounds repacked during our 3 hour
shift equates to 5,120 meals are now ready for redistribution to their 67 food bank centers.
Many thanks for spending the morning giggling, cursing tie machines, pulling kernels out of
sleeves (how do they get in there?), and in general having fun doing something good.
