Next Meeting Oct 12th Vogel State Park
Mark your calendar, our next meeting will be Saturday October 12th at
Vogel State Park Picnic Shelter #1. The club will provide hamburgers
and hotdogs and fixings, along with drinks. Members are asked to
bring a side or dessert. There will be a pony run to the park in the
morning, lunch at ~noon, meeting at ~1:00, and an afternoon pony run
for those that want. There is a $5 park entry fee per vehicle to the park.
Please rsvp to me by 9/28, [email protected], so we can plan
amount of food to be purchased. Looking for some cooler and dryer
weather (than our May attempt at this), and some color in the leaves.
Unfortunately traffic will probably be heavy for the same reasons.
We'll communicate the meeting time and place for the run to the park
as we get closer to the date.
40th Annual Fall Shelby/Mustang & Ford Meet
The 40th
Annual show in Maggie Valley is in the books now, hope
everyone that attended had a great time, and thanks to all the members
that helped out during the show and made it a success. We ended up
with 161 cars registered, 4 food vendors, and several merchandise and
parts vendors including Mustangs Unlimited and Jacky Jones Ford.We
were 10 Mustangs strong when we left Oakwood Friday morning and
picked up 3 more at the Dillard House where we enjoyed a hearty
breakfast, and then 3 more Mustangs joined in Franklin, NC on the
way to Maggie Valley. We spent the afternoon setting up for the show,
stuffing goody bags, and registering cars. Saturday morning started
early finishing the show setup, with cars starting to roll in before 8AM.
We spent the morning parking and registering cars, and selling shirts.
The award ceremony started shortly after 4PM, with 96 awards to 28
classes and Best of Show Mustang and the Jim Osborn Award to best
non-Mustang handed out.

Mustangs Unlimited Show on 8/24
Mustangs Unlimited held their Mustang and Ford
Appreciation Day on 8/24, this was actually the rain
day for the show that was supposed to be on 8/10.
The club had a good turnout, I counted at least 19
club cars and at least 5 Top 20 awards.
This was the first time for an evening cruise in and
show at MU, and I think everyone enjoyed the
"cooler" evening temps.
The club had 5 cars at the MCA
Grand National "Mustangs at the
Mickyard" Labor Day weekend. We
took 4 firsts/gold awards and a third.
Congrats to Paul Nemoga for his
Gold, Jeanne Nemoga - First, Kenny
Shoufler/Lisa Nemoga - First, and
Keith & Deb Corkern - First. Way to
go everyone. Great year for the club
at MCA shows, 11 cars entered with
10 firsts/golds and 1 third.

MCA 50th
B’Day Party
This celebration of the 50th
anniversary of
the date Mustang first went on sale is
scheduled for April 17th
-20th
, 2014 at
Charlotte Motor Speedway and Las
Vegas Motor Speedway. At least 12 club
members/couples are planning on
attending the Charlotte event. Hotels are
already hard to find, so if you want to go,
check the MCA website for help with
hotel suggestions. Also, they are limiting
the number of registered cars to 2400, so
make sure you get in. This is not a
carshow, there will be no judging or
awards, but there are a lot of events
planned, lots of vendors and
merchandise, see the MCA website,
www.mustang.org or call Rick at 678-
371-5799 for more info.
Moonshine Festival Carshows
We are assisting the FOA with the Saturday shows at the
Moonshine Festival where there will be a separate show
for Mustangs. Many of us will also make the show on
Sunday. The car shows are around the Racing Hall of
Fame, which is within easy walking distance of
downtown Dawsonville, where there are all kinds of
activities going on.
I will send out the event flyer and registration form via
email soon, but if you preregister for both days, you get a
free event t-shirt (they were great last year). Also, I
believe if you register for the show on Saturday, you get a
ticket to the concert on Saturday evening (Confederate
Railroad) behind the Racing Hall of Fame. Additional
tickets will be available for $5. I’ll get info out on this
soon, but will need volunteers on site before 8AM
Saturday.
Toys for Tots Show at Mustangs Unlimited
The date has been set for our Toys for Tots show at Mustangs
Unlimited. It is on Saturday October 19th
from 10-4.
Members will need to be there by 8:30 to help setup for the
show. This is our big charity fund raiser of the year for our
selected charity, so come out and give us a hand, and show
your car.
Toys for Tots Drop Off
We’ll also schedule the Toys for Tots purchase and drop off at
Jacky Jones Ford in Cleveland along with our
November/December meeting for early December, date to be
determined and communicated later. This is where we take
the money collected over the year to Walmart, purchase toys
and then drop them off at Jacky Jones Ford, We also have our
meeting there. We usually head to the Hawg Wild in
Clarkesville for lunch after that. This is one of the highlights
of our year and if you haven’t done it before, you need to
come out and join in the fun.
