Spring Show Recap
433 – REGISTERED SHOW CARS
1156 – SPECTATORS
16 – SWAP / CAR CORRAL
I have to say…….. Simply amazing! Yes, the spring show was an
outstanding success. It ranked among one of the best shows ever. Why
was that? I’d have to say it’s because many members that have never
volunteered to work stepped up. Not to mention all of those that step
up year after year. THANK YOU! I also have to say I very much appreciated the help and support we
received from AVF. I personally have never witnessed such a smooth new car move in the years that
I’ve been a member.
I did observe a few things I believe we can improve on. To name a few, we probably could have
manned the show car entrance a little earlier and made sure they had supplies such as sticky notes
for class I.D. on the windshields. A few more people to assist with show car parking earlier in the day.
But all in all an exceptional show!
I believe we have made significant progress and built on past success in running the show. The
Registration went to the computer this year. I was told this was a significant time saver. I believe
another nice touch this year was members at the exit gates thanking people as they left. Thanks to
those members that assisted in that effort. My vision when I volunteered to chair was to have
someone take responsibility for each aspect. A person to oversee each specific segments, co-chair for
parking, registration, pre-class and so on. That person could also do any of those jobs but assist in
signing volunteers for each of the positions.
We plan to meet soon to discuss possible changes and improvements. I heard many times the food
line was too long. Some classes are too large. Not enough people parking show cars early on. Why is
there Chevy powered vehicles in an all Ford powered show? The show is too long. Again, all of you
should feel major accomplishment as the show this year was one of our best. But I truly believe we
can improve on it.
I plan to continue as show chairmen next year. Can we top it? I think we can!
Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
Roger Stolley
Hi Everyone,
Thanks again for all your hard work on the car show. It was extremely well
organized and everything from moving the cars to setup, appearance,
attendance and the weather was excellent! We couldn't have had a better day
and all your hard work paid off. We really appreciate what the club and the
car show does for the dealership and Ford.
Congratulations on another successful year and one of the best shows yet!
Thanks,
Chris

Wounded Warrior Family Support
I met with Ron Julianelle, the High Five Tour Coordinator and Colonel John
Folsom from the Wounded Warrior Family Support on Monday, June 6, in their
office in Omaha, NE. We had a very good conversation about the WWFS and
High Five Tour. We went to lunch and they invited me to an event on Tuesday
night that the car would be at. It was a very good turnout. I met a few of the
members from the Omaha Mustang Club. Two of the members of that club are
going to be bringing the Mustang GT 350 to Apple Ford Lincoln in Apple Valley
on Monday, July 11. That same night we will hold our monthly club meeting at
the dealership. They feel bad that they would not be able to have the car for
our August show. They will still try to make that happen next year. I am going
to get information for the 2017 season, if anyone is interested, to take the car to
some of their events. This may or may not be a Mustang. Chris Gulbrandson
and Brian McCulley, from the dealership, are very excited about having the car
at Apple Ford Lincoln
and for us to have our club
meeting at their dealership.

PS: I was on my way to a
job I was working at so I
thought I would stop by.
My job took me to prison
but they did let me back

I know it’s not a Ford, but it’s big, bad, and powerful… Below is a short video of Tom Hoover’s 1966 Top Fuel Dragster at the
Faribault Drag-On’s car club show in Faribault this past Saturday. May 2015 Hot Rod Magazine named this the “Most Beautiful
Dragster Ever Built” Now owned by Steve Andersen of Minneapolis.
Tom Hoover and Doc Halladay were both there signing posters. Doc Halladay also drove this car at one time. Asked Tom Hoover
to sign a photo of my Roush on the starting line at BIR (Wednesday Night Drags), he looked at photo funny then looked at me and
asked if he could sign it Mopar’s Forever…. we got a good chuckle… told him he could sign it however he wanted. Both great
guys. My memories of Tom Hoover are as a kid seeing the Showtime Funny Car.
Was a great show with about 200 cars(wife Kathy handed out lots of flyers with great response for both our club shows)
Big 392 Chrysler Hemi sang a great song….. they start it on alcohol, then switch over to Nitro… link to video, pardon my
excitement and shaky video, it gave me goosebumps….

11th Annual Tenvoorde Ford Mustang Run
was held 5-21-2016. It was a beautiful 80+
degree day with some 129 registered
mustang cars. It started at 9 a.m. and you
could bring in your cars for judging. They
had free hot dogs, chips, popcorn and pop
for lunch. They started the run at 1
p.m. driving around St. Cloud's country
roads where we also made two pit stops.
We returned to Tenvoorde at 5 p.m. for a hot meal of pulled pork, beef brisket, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and
buns for dinner catered by Dickie's BBQ.

The Chip Ganassi led Ford GT EcoBoost team wins the GT-E class at The 24
Hours of LeMans.
The victory comes 50 years after Ford's first overall victory in 1966!!!
Congratulations to all Blue Oval supporters and fans!!!
At one time or another in our lives, we have been told that if you live long enough, nothing that happens in
the world should surprise you. Well, recently, I was just about knocked off my feet.
One of my co-workers (and fellow car guy, even though they are the German ones with the four rings in the
grill), lost his 91 year-old father. I had only met him on two occasions, but he seemed like a very nice gentleman, a
veteran, and quite the story teller---something Brad has continued in the family tradition.
Anyway, the funeral/memorial service was held at the beautiful Basilica of St. Mary's. Those of you who have
been in The Basilica, know what I am talking about.
Due to a previous business commitment, I arrived about ten minutes before the service was to begin.
Being the anal retentive sort that I am, I found a parking spot on the street to avoid possible door dings if I parked in
the adjacent parking lot. It was about a block walk to the church. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
The service and meal that followed lasted about 2-1/2 hours. When I came out of the church it was raining
lightly, so I stepped up my walking to stay as dry as possible. When I approached my car, I noticed a piece of paper
under my wiper blade. A parking ticket I thought.
Damn!
Turns out, despite my efforts to avoid damage to my car, I never thought about someone hitting my parked car! My
left front quarter panel had gotten hit by someone using the adjacent driveway to turn around. A piece of their
outside mirror cover was laying in front of my car. The dent did not seem very big, but enough to make me mad!
You start to think, why me? Increased insurance premiums, mismatched body panels and paint, having to get
a rental car while mine is in the shop, etc., etc.
Double damn!!
That was before I took a look at that piece of paper under the wiper blade.
Turns out, it was a note-not from the guy that hit my car, but from a young lady who witnessed the moron hit
my car, and take off! She wrote down the license plate number, and make of car, along with her phone number. She
even went so far as to call the Minneapolis Police to report it. She was told there was nothing they could do because
she was not the owner of the car.
She felt terrible, there was nothing else for her to do, but leave me the note. I called her when I got home, and
she offered to help if I wound up in court. She gave me her permission to give her phone number to the police and
my insurance company.
I was speechless!! I thanked her and told her that what she had done was very admirable, and that her
parents had done a great job in raising her!
I have yet to hear from the Minneapolis Police Department, but my insurance company apparently has, and
they have told me to go ahead and get my car fixed. Oh yeah, that little dent - try $2700!!! But I will have to pay my
$500 deductible. Once they get him and his insurance company to pay everything, I'll get my deductible back. I'll
believe that when it happens.
I don't understand what has happened to our society - especially to the "Millennial Generation" where the
world apparently revolves around them, and they don't have to take any responsibility for their actions, like driving
properly! To me, this is a classic example of that behavior.
While I greatly appreciate what this young lady did in reporting everything to me, it is sad to think that the
person who is responsible is still trying to wiggle out of the whole thing.
While this is not a life altering experience, but it has really opened my eyes somewhat. In a time where there
is so much division in our society, we need to go back to thinking how some actions do have an effect on others.
This young lady could have just kept on walking; she didn't owe me anything. But as she told me, what he did was
wrong and he should not get away with it.
Now it is my responsibility to pay it forward to the next person, whenever that situation presents itself.
I hope to meet this young lady soon, and plan to give her a gift card as a small token of my thanks.
I also hope to meet her parents to thank them for raising a good kid!!
Hope you get out soon to drive something fun!!
See you all soon.
