DID YOU KNOW …

Our Student Leadership Team has been elected

for 2015?

Our Student Leadership Team is elected by all of our students. Students

wishing to nominate for a position give a speech as to why they want the

position and then the students do a secret vote. The only position

determined by the staff is the Foundation Representative for Junior School

Council. Our 2015 Leadership team will be presented to our school

community at our Information Night on Thursday 19th February.

Last Friday we held our 2015 Student Leaders Elections. I would like to acknowledge all of our students who nominated for a

leadership position. The quality and the delivery of all of the speeches were of a very high standard. There is no doubting our students are very proud of Kialla Central Primary School! I look forward to working with our new leadership team this year. On Thursday 19th February we are hosting our 2015 Information Night. This is a great opportunity for parents/guardians to gain an insight into their child/ren’s classrooms including: expectations, homework requirements and the general routines of their classroom. Our 2015 Information Books will also be distributed.

Our 2015 Student Leadership Team will then be presented with their badges and certificates to conclude our Information Night. Parents/guardians are welcome to bring a picnic tea and meet our new families or rekindle old friendships. I look forward to seeing you at this special event.

Last week you should have received a fridge magnet with our key dates for

2015 on it. This is a new initiative this year and your feedback is greatly appre-ciated. Speaking of feedback, in the next few weeks I will be sending home my annual Parent Feedback Survey. This is an opportunity for parents/guardians to tell me about the things we are doing well at Kialla Central, the areas we need to improve in order to ensure our school continues to progress in a positive manner and what you can contribute to our school community. This information is invaluable as it provides me with a greater insight into our school from a parents perspective. Some items are easily addressed while others require further investigation to determine its viability for our school. The Department of Education and Training conducts a Parent Opinion Survey. This survey usually comes out in May with results available to schools in August. This data forms part of our Annual Report to the School Community and sets some of our goals and targets for our following year’s Annual Implementation Plan and our Strategic Plan. On Monday 9th February Irene Crawford, School Nursing Program, conducted our Foundation students health check and other student referrals. Irene will contact any parents if your child requires any follow up appointments.

Information and order forms for our Grade 6 polo shirts were sent home last week. Orders and payment will be required by Friday 13th February with an estimated 2 week turn around.

During the holidays all of our families were sent an information pack with a number of forms that need to be

returned to school. This included: an update of family contact details (yellow sheets), a request slip to have your family statements emailed to you, permission forms for the media, head lice checks (new students) and the MARC (Library) Van agreement which allows your child to borrow books when the van visits tomorrow Wednesday 11th February. It would be appreciated if you could please return these form by Friday 13th February so we can update our records. Thank you for your assistance. On Sunday 15th February we are hosting our Bunnings BBQ which is one of our annual fundraising events. Thank you to all of our families who have offered to help. Confirmation letters were sent home last Friday. There were a couple of time slots where we had more helpers than we required so we actually have a back up helpers list. Don’t forget to tell your family and friends to drop in and buy a sausage on Sunday.

Congratulations to Tessa Coates, one of our past student’s, who completed Year 12 last year.

She recorded an ATAR score in the top 10% at Notre Dame College. This shows the strong foundation we provide to our students for future success. Well done Tess!

that will take place on a Wednesday evening at

Primary Care Connect from 6.30 - 9.00pm ,

starting on the 18th February. Total cost of

$20.00 covers materials provided and supper.
