K-2 iPad Labs 1. K-2 iPads.2. Based on brain based learning and language acquisition between ages 4-8, when the brain is most active . I

feel strongly that iPad labs must be included for grades TK-2 in the first year activities.  3. K-2 iPad class sets should be included in the plan, so the children have additional technology experiences.  4. Classroom sets of iPads for k-25. Include K-2 iPad classroom labs in the first year, with a goal of having one iPad lab per classroom. iPad labs

should be included in writing on Phase 1   6. I would also like to see the K-2 technology implementation of iPads. Increase the percentage of EL elementary

school students receive instruction in all subject areas through ELD instruction. 7. Include funding for K-2nd grade chromebooks or iPad labs.  8. I doesn't make sense to wait until grade three to learn how to type and test at the same time. (K-2 iPad Labs)9. It would be beneficial for all students in K-2 (iPad labs) to be somewhat proficient in keyboarding prior to

grade three. Facilities10.Energy efficient changes to Magnolia 50's wing...drop ceilings, dual pane windows11.The electric bus gates at Magnolia are a safety issue. I would like to see that moved forward in the phase

plan. 12.Separate computer lab at Magnolia  13.Drop ceiling/replace windows in 50's wing Magnolia.14.Classroom set up 21st century Fair Oaks is impacted and needs more space for classrooms.  15.We need to look at redistricting because Fair Oaks is at max capacity. shade structure at Magnolia I would

think that k-2 students should have keyboarding skills prior to grade three. 16.Renovation of Cloverland's multipurpose room should take priority over other sites...Clov needs cafeteria

space to 17.Where does improvement to the district office fit in? Size?Staffing18.I would like to see a VP at each school to provide additional help with behavior issues that interrupts class

time . 19.I also believe there is the need for Title 1 teachers, Read i80 teachers, and additional aids. Students need so

much extra help. Many of them do not receive help at home. 20.Need more maintenance staff  21.School Resource Officers, crossing guards at main intersections and in front/behind schools .22.Evaluate the amount of teaching time lost to yard duty- with the increase in rigor, prep, and technology these

duties decrease teaching time. There are lots of materials needed for math lessons alone. This goes to school climate and technology uses.

Chromebooks capacity building for non-pilot teachers23.Chrome books issued for non roll out teachers for planning and familiarity - would ease transition. 24.Chrome books issued to non pilot teachers for planning, to gain familiarity, and to ease transition.

Counselors/VPs1. I suggest the district offer services for students that are dealing with emotional needs; I see this need grow

every year. 2. I would also like to see student support by having a counseling or Student Assistance(SAP personnel) on

each campus.3. There needs to support in the form of counselors or vice principals at the school site that can address the

issues we are experiencing in the classroom. 4. A full time SAP counselor. 5. We need to develop a behavior plan that is structured where students receive services.6. Every year activities might include additional support services at respective school sites, when CHKS

identifies a particular need (i.e. counseling, attendance, emotional support)7. Weekly, or more often, psychological counseling would be a good addition to the plan. 8. Divorce groups, anger management, and grief counseling, etc... are some examples of services our students

could use. Address nutrition, exercise, mental health, include parents.9. I would like to see support for students with emotional struggles, poor family situations, and lack of home

support.10.I would like to see a Student Assistant Specialists available for our students.11.There is a need for a counselor for alternative education. A principal with a PPS credential does not

adequately meet the needs of the alternative education students, many of who need counseling support more than students in a traditional setting.

12.More counselors, or VP, or a place where someone can help the students besides it being on the teacher would be beneficial.

13.We need more school counselors available to students.14.Make sure we provide jr high students with counseling services now provided (2 counselors). Failure rate

decreased substantially (from approx. 80 non grads to less than 50)15.Consider a college counselor at the high school to free up academic counselors to address the low income,

socioeconomic, etc. students enabling the counselors to spend maximum time for providing services and enabling student success for this group.

16. Attendance has a direct correlation to success. We have students who don't come to school and it doesn't appear that anything is being done about it.

17.Counselors (SAP) & VP at Elementary sites.18.School psychological/counseling services for children are a definite need at each site at all times.19.Student Assistance Program (SAP) or counseling money set aside for every school, every year. More than

just once a week....Vice Principal at every site, full time, to deal with playground discipline issues.20.Counselors at each site would help give students strategies to relate appropriately to staff and peers when

that character instruction is missing at home. 21.That a Student Assistance Program (SAP) continued to be implemented to help students with emotional

problems and/or counseling.22.Vice Principals at every K-6 site will allow for a more immediate response to student misbehavior that

causes students to be unsafe.

2

Page 8: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

Fingerprinting/Student/School Safety1. I would like to see the district implement finger printing clearance for parent volunteers. 2. I would like to have parent volunteers screened through fingerprint processes.  A district wide policy that

has parent/school volunteers finger printed.3. Regarding the Safety Plan for the district...more secure campuses at the elementary level is a huge

concern Mental Health, Physical Health, Nutrition Counselors (SAP - Student Assistance Program), Vice Principals at ALL elementary sites!

4. There is a lot of counseling going on via teachers, which is starting to take away from teaching District norms regarding behavior...different than what's in the district handbook...more efficient, for example, in this district we...

5. Specialized training for yard supervisors to improve oversight.6. We at Transportation appreciate the new buses especially for safety reasons! All the new buses will have

seat belts and they have proven to be very beneficial in times of accident. 7. In case of a lock down at Valley Oak IS High School, someone must go outside to lock the door. Suggestion

would be to change the lock on the main entry door so that it could be locked from inside the school.8. Regarding safety concerns some facilities lack proper window coverings to close during lock downs.9. A safety issue I see at several schools pertains to having a safe exit each day at dismissal time. Too often,

staff and students have to push their way through family members who are waiting for their students to be dismissed. These family members block the exit paths, causing class lines to be broken up, and students to be separated from their teachers. It would be nice if there were signs and perhaps some kind of exit path that people couldn't block, or impede the path of those exiting.

10.School Resource Officers, crossing guards at main intersections and in front/behind.11.Emergency response training from public safety officers - specific steps to respond in a crisis (i.e. armed

intruder) more than just emailing the secretaries.12.Once the bell rings or before family members will walk into my classroom to "pick up" their children. I am

not informed who they are or why. We do not have the gates or doors locked.

2

Page 9: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

Prevention/Character Ed1. I am concerned about waiting until 5th grade to address drug use. We are seeing a very large number of

children who are exposed to and need to be educated about the risks and consequences of marijuana and meth use!

2. Also with bullying on the rise we need to have universal norms at each site K-12 to address this consistently. I am concerned with the safety of our students at our site.

3. I don't have specific suggestions to recommend, but I do want to strongly stress the important need of a more consistent character education program at all sites. I was unaware of what the Power of One program is until today and don't feel that it hits students at all levels on a consistent basis which doesn't seem effective.

4. I would like more explanation of digital citizenship.5. As a classified staff member I am very interested in extra training on the smart board because I do use it

for my training also. So please include us in training with the technology.6. I believe that the programs associated with supporting students to be drug, tobacco, alcohol free, need to

be far more ongoing. One time a year in an elementary classroom is not enough. Students view it as novel.Health7. I hope the new central kitchen is going to have the capability of providing healthier lunches and

breakfasts. 8. A healthy kid survey is great. However, in the school setting I am not seeing the teacher support. There are

increasing problems in regards to behavior and emotional problems in the classroom. Without support, it becomes increasingly hard to reach all students and dealing with behavior problems in class takes away from instructional time.

Goal 2 Input: All schools will promote and provide an orderly, safe, and healthy school setting that fosters responsibility,

accountability, assistance and support.Strong Recommendations Already Addressed

Strong Recommendations not Currently Addressed

1. California Healthy Kids Survey will be administered to grades 5, 7, and 9

2. District Power of One Plan expanded - Digital Citizenship

3. Safety Plan will be reviewed/revised as necessary

4. Emergency Crisis Response Plan will be reviewed/revised as necessary

5. Brainology pilot will be completed, evaluated and discussed.

Technology : Updates needed/Equal technology for all Classrooms/Training1. Student classroom computers need to be updated. 2. I would also like to see the update of technology at each school site to allow students more time on

computers each week3. Also, keep updating technology in the classroom and not be forced to make old things work.

4. All classrooms need to have a Smartboard and Chromebooks / iPads to accomplish this goal.5. At this time, I don't even have a Smartboard. 6. Kl I would like to see year 1 include teacher's being issued Chromebook/ iPad as appropriate for their

expected technology use with tech plan. Give us what you want us to use before we "have" to use it. Think of it as swim lessons before we have to swim in the pool.

7. I would like to know when more teachers will get to work with Chromebooks. 8. It would be nice for all teachers to be able to have an iPad to use as an instructional tool in the classroom.

However, unless other technology is provided with it (apple TV) it is not that necessary. 9. EL learners need to be able to access the 21st century skills needed in the common core.10.If we are given technology it would be nice to have other tools that go along with it to be able to use it to its

full potential. 11.iPads are not the only way to go. In fact they do less than other technology out there.12.iPads do not support FLASH or other things that other tablets do.13.I think we need to research what is the best technology out there not just go with what is popular.14.I do use a smart board in my training.15.I'm a slower, hands-on learner and this seems overwhelming to me to be trained in all of this at once. I am

concerned about me, as an adult, but even more so for our young students. Tech support has to increase if we are turning to more and more technology.

16.If there is going to be Smartboard Training, then all classrooms should have Smartboards. The same is true for iPads, if there is going to be iPad training

17.Dynamic teaching is about a lot more than just technology.18.Would like more training in the Smartboards and other tech systems and Spanish language to communicate

with staff, children, and parents.19.I suggest training for Chromebook teachers take place before each phase of installation. Having teachers

trained ahead of time allows for teachers to become more familiar with the Chromebooks before they are put in front of students.

20.Need to give basic training on Smartboard to classified members who would be using the boards.21.I like the Smartboard training, but feel that looking into the benefits of Apple TVs to replace that

technology.22.Chromebook training to include not how to use the Chromebook but how to TEACH with a Chromebook lab

with a computer in front of every student.

3

Page 13: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

Certificated: Focused Collaboration Time/Lesson Studies/Lesson Design1. I would like to use time and money spent to do lesson studies with teachers as we move into the Common

Core.2. Justifying what ONGOING support looks like will be important.3. I value the collaboration time during the school days that allow us to work as a grade level with the

curriculum and technology that is newly presented to us.4. We like the opportunity to work on fresh materials and dive deeper into the instruction.5. Training should be tailored to minimum days. 6. In order to support teaching communities, I feel it is also necessary to include time for teachers to

collaborate on lesson design for implementation of new CCSS and curriculum.7. I would also like to add the importance of grade level collaboration time for sharing, planning and observing

lessons.8. I advise avoiding pulling large numbers of teachers out of classrooms for entire days of training.9. Lesson studies/lesson building.10.That collaboration time be provided during the school day in order to receive T Goal Training, Smartboard

Training, iPad Training and ENY Module Training.11.We need credentialed staff teaching computer skills at the elementary level.12.Allow room for teacher research and development of their own training needs.13.The current model when fully implemented will create a "standardized" system whereby teachers are acting

in very similar manners in every classroom. Diversity is not a bad thing, because students (humans) are diverse and teachers are in perhaps the best position to identify, research, and develop the methods that might be most beneficial to students.

14.Build in a capacity for teacher initiated trainings, research, and professional growth activities. more training, more tech support in district and on each campus.

15.I would like to see the coaching to be more formal to create EDI certifications within the district.16.Valley Oak HS staff needs to be included in all trainings.17.Updated materials are greatly needed. Many books are very outdated but the budget is so small and the

price of books so high, very few books may be purchased each year. Increase in the budget would be appreciated.

18.At the junior high level I would like to see in the plan for year 2 or 3 support for developing a STEM elective pathway.

Staffing19.Certificated EL support staff at all elementary sites.20.The junior high is in need of an additional PE teacher.21.There are many reasons, safety and supervision being the biggest reason it's important to have two male

and female PE teachers.22.It would be nice to have 2 sets of coaches at the secondary and elementary level.23.How are the coaches going to be chosen? Seems to be some controversy over ELA coaches assignments.

3

Page 14: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

Staffing-Cont. Coaching/EL6. Clarification for math and or ELA coaching positions would need to given.7. Specific certificated staff (support staff) for programs: Read 180, Title One and ELD instruction at

elementary sites.8. Elementary TK - 6 need ELA and Math coach support.9. I recommend having a credentialed EL teacher who can provide the support these students need to be

successful10.We should have more coaches at the elementary level and junior high/high school level.11.ELA/Literacy coaches as well as the math/tech coaches should be paid on a 6-period day basis12.We need more teacher coaches than two for the whole district - at least one per site and more for the

larger sites. 13.Coaching is a tool that benefits not only new teachers but also more experienced teachers. Ideally more

coaches to cover more specific grade levels would be ideal (for example k-3, 4-6, etc.), but this is a step in the right direction.

14.Math and ELA coach, from elementary schools and an additional for secondary.15.Will the math/technology coaches be from in district or out of district?16.The need for Academic Coaches in the elementary level is huge.17.I like the idea of having a math/technology coach. The person will be able to give us strategies for our

subject matter correct? I have had tech support in the past but I do not always feel that it aligns with my subject matter.

Classified Training18.Would like to see classified staff included in these up front trainings. 19.Training for Lead Custodians on tech equipment.20.Please include all classified staff in the technology trainings available.21.Should be some basic training for maintenance staff since we are the ones that will be installing

Smartboards, Smart TV's, etc. would be very helpful.22.Please include the classified staff in the technology training.23.Training for classified staff where applicable on new technology.24.Tech training for paraprofessionals in all areas to support the teacher and students.25.Lead custodians need more training on smart board.26.Need classified staff to be trained as well.Other27.This plan is kind of vague.

Classified Training Participation in Common Core, IS4 and Technology 1. Invite classified staff to join TVT's.2. I appreciate the pull in training for classified and after school program; especially in ENY.3. Also having support staff visit classrooms to see how material is being taught.4. Classified staff has requested training in the common core and how they can support the teaching staff. The

couple of training's that they have had they have truly enjoyed.5. Also, invite classified staff to participate in the TVT model.6. Classified training is a wonderful ideal, could even be done the end of this year to alleviate some of the

anxiety of the paraprofessionals, especially in the elementary grades.7. We need trained classified aides to work in classrooms, not untrained parent volunteers.8. First-aid training for classified employees should be available on an ongoing basis.9. The district provide classified aides for the elementary classrooms.10.Classified aides for 90 minutes in the kindergarten classrooms. 11.Trainings for Classified Staff is ideal, also training for substitutes in the district is strongly encouraged.12.I would support the implementation of additional Classified training in the areas of IS4 and common core.13.Support staff and substitute teachers MUST have IS4 and CCSS training that is in alignment with our

district goals and expectations.14.Include more training for classified support staff including ETC, iPad training.15.Many of the Title One paraprofessional support ELA instruction so Common Core Literacy training would be

very helpful for them.16.Classified Staff/substitute training: Is4/Common core training.17.Classified staff should be in the classrooms with the teachers.18.More training for support staff IS4/CCSS training for subs, character ed/management.19.Training for classified yard duties.20.Would love to see more spots available at the ETC training. Got wait-listed :( when scheduling training for

classified members.21.Check with transportation so that bus drivers can schedule for the training.22.There is a void in the training of classified staff regarding IS4, Engage NY, common core curriculum. 23.Include classified staff in TVT model.24.Also we need to have a Kindergarten aide for at LEAST 90 minutes per day in order to insure that all

students learn the foundational concepts and skills needed to be successful at the beginning of their educational career.

25.I feel the support staff would benefit most from specific training given by the administration/teachers.26.More training sessions available to all staff with student contact.27.Provide Engage NY training to After School Program Staff.28.ENY training for after-school program staff should be included, since it is such a dramatic shift.

4

Page 18: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

Certificated1. Training appreciated in all areas.2. The access to our instructional coaches is also vital!3. I would like PTC training.4. I would like to see the instruction time preserved.5. Common Core ELA training (not collaboration days) for ELA for certified staff...Engage New York training

by a professional and not just collaborate with other teachers but a training.6. We also need to have salaries to retain and recruit competent teachers.7. With common core and the new expectations for teachers to teach at a deeper level, we need to have our

students in the classroom. Pull out programs have really made it difficult for teachers to have all students present throughout the day.

8. Involve Valley Oak staff in trainings. Each teacher must teach all subjects, so all trainings would be beneficial.

9. IS4 does not align perfectly with the common core. I think entire IS4 model needs to be rethought. I totally agree with the idea of student engagement. I have seen how effective that is. However, common core is project base and allowing the student to explore and question on their own. How is giving the student an answer before asking them a question at all aligned with common core and the idea that students drive the lessons by their questions? I feel we are trying to make something fit because we have spent so much time and money on it that is not going to work and that is setting us up for failure. There are parts of IS4 that are great, but other parts need to be let go. Why spend more time and money on something.

10.While all our time is being filled with "new" training, I do not see any structured time for teacher collaboration. We need to utilize our most important asset, our teachers. Nothing gets teachers more motivated in doing new and exciting things than working with other teachers that can share their knowledge and ideas.

11.Would like to have more training for teacher evaluations and walk through feedback.12.Adding a couple days of Common Core ELA collaboration SD days across grade levels district.13.Enlarge enrollment for ect training.14.We need credentialed staff to be compensated as professionals: Our value must be supported by better

salaries.15.We also need to have salaries to retain and recruit competent teachers.16.I would like to see the district implement the DuFour PLC programs.17.15 or thirty minutes at a staff meeting is not a training to me. We are not supposed to teach our students

that way. How can we expect to be experts when we only get a few minutes of training (not really training) at a meeting, from a teacher who just got shown how to do it. It's a joke. More trainers which can come in to instruct new strategies, instead of leaning on teacher leaders to do so.

18.Interested in further training on building positive school culture.19.We do not need to have subs for everyone in the district, every year, to observe other teachers.20.We need to change things up.

4

Page 19: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

Substitute Training1. Provide IS4 and math training to new and current subs.2. Making training for substitute teachers in IS4, ENY and common core overview.3. Perhaps giving some designation within sub system so we can see who we can leave a math or IS4 lesson for. 4. I think we should add in substitutes to be trained on IS4 and Common Core training.5. Please include IS4/common core training for substitutes.6. Add IS4 training for subs.7. Substitute training in common core and IS4, due to the fact that when we have a sub, it's often difficult to

write plans for curriculum and materials that the sub is most often not familiar with.8. We would all benefit from having classroom substitutes given training, especially for the new Engage New

York math curriculum.9. I would also recommend to have preferred substitutes attend trainings also.10.Additional training for ENY Math Common Core/Engage New York Training/ Substitutes.Student11.Update and make larger computer labs to all sites so all students can have more access to computers weekly.12.When encouraging parents to get their kids to school often and on time, include the notion of staying home

when ill and contagious. Make this distinction part of the education curriculum / process.13.Health care professionals strongly encourage sick / contagious students to stay home. Make this distinction

part of the education module.14.The amount of pull out time for students needs to be minimized.15.We need to maximize instruction time and limit the time students are out of the classroom for various reasons

that do not support classroom instruction.16.Students are pulled out of class too much. Between GATE, choir, band, Resource, counseling, speech, and title

one aides, I do not have a time of day when all of my students are present. It is a lot of work for me to try and catch these students up and it is not good for the student involved.

17.In order to maximize the effectiveness of IS4 instruction, classroom interruptions (i.e: students being pulled out of class, phone calls, etc...) need to be minimized.

Admin Support18.In order to be more effective instructional leaders, we need vice principal support at all elementary schools.19.I also think it is important to have full time Asst. Principal support at all schools next year.20.Admin training: PLC would be good based on the DuFour model.21.As an admin team member I would appreciate training on PLC's, how to run effective staff and department

meetings, and how to give effective walk through feedback.22.Please add training to administrators and classified personnel to keep students in the classroom.23.Administrative training on observations and technology.

Tutoring/Mentoring1. I would like to see the expansion of a high school mentor program in the elementary schools.2. It would be great if high school students could learn and help with Engage New York.3. Expand the high school helper program to include elementary tutoring and training for those students.4. I value my HS helpers learning about the teaching profession.5. I know students who would thrive with opportunities in the technology sectors.6. Could we have High School students working with our District's own IT team.7. High school helpers could be trained to help teachers at the elementary level with math instruction and

pull out programs.8. Formation of a peer tutoring program for the high school.9. Utilize high school helpers in elementary classrooms to assist with math instruction or intervention.10.Strongly support high school tutoring program.11.I like the idea of menial payment to students who are willing to tutor.12.I like the idea of intern programs.13.Expansion of high school tutoring program at elementary level.14.Use peers to tutor other students...example: high school senior to high school freshman.15.High School to elementary school CTE focus curricular.16.High School has implemented the "No Excuses Workshop" that helps parents with struggling freshman

and sophomores strategies to help them be successful at the high school.17.Develop a tutorial center for JH and HS students to access, where there are students who are paid to be

tutors during designated office hours.18.Training for all high school helpers on how to be self-starters, as well as how to work with elementary

children, without giving the elementary kids the answers.19.Peer Tutoring in the high school level Math support (tutoring) at all levels is likely going to be needed.

Identify ways these needs at specific levels could be met.20.Expand HS helpers program to be used for math tutoring after school and during school support.21.Expansion of high school mentor program at elementary level.22.Trainings for high school mentors to tutor. 23.Developing a Saturday Math Academy for parents or possible students that are struggling with MVP1 or

NY math.24.Expansion of high school helpers in the elementary positions to include aide in ENY.

Schools/Community1. The ultimate home and school partnership is potentially the Oakdale Home Charter School. It is not

mentioned, supported, or referred to in this section.2. It would be nice if we could reinstate the services of a School Resource Officer.3. Having an officer on all campuses, even if it's only weekly, helps our students make a positive

connection with law enforcement, a true community partnership!4. Helping PTC and Schools put on Community Gathering nights; such as Fall Festival or so on. Maybe

one every season to unite community and schools.5. Parents need more opportunity for information/education on basic skills and developmentally

appropriate skills at the TK-2 level.6. Continual support of AG Day at the elementary level.7. Being in an AG community strongly support AG development would be very beneficial.8. We also need to develop partnerships with local colleges (YCCD and CSU, Stanislaus).9. There needs to be a partnership with the local community college as an outreach.10.College Outreach programs, School Resource Officers (OPD), crossing guards for ALL main

intersections in town and in front/behind schools.11.Possibly looking into accessing some of the non profit social work type groups; such as Center For

Human Services to develop outreach groups that help support parents in other aspects besides academic. Many parents ask me how to parent their student, which I am not trained or qualified to advise.

12.The district provide school resource officers to enforce attendance. I feel our community is always ready to support our schools. I don't see a partnership with mental health / counseling services for students that are dealing with such dysfunction at home that learning becomes a secondary or even a lower priority for them. Making it through the day knowing mom, dad, or family member is safe becomes a priority.

5

Page 24: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

Other1. Could we include rigor contracts for entry into AP or pre-AP classes across the curriculum?2. We also need to provide enrichment for advanced students. They may be the ones who are getting left

out due to the emphasis on EL and other sub groups. 3. Teacher support for STEM program/ NGSS training.4. More communication to all staff on all fronts.5. Install full time sub bus driver.6. Restore Outdoor Ed.7. Avenues for Alt Ed to be included in appropriate parent informational programs.8. Alt Ed included in Career readiness programs.9. There is a real need for higher expectations and less enabling of students. The graduation numbers have

become a priority over teaching responsibility and the hard-work ethic. This ultimately under-minds the educational system and those who work so hard in the classroom to create a strong learner and a productive citizen.

10.The district continue to have Ag Day at the elementary schools. Parents/Families11.There needs to be ongoing support for EL parents.12.Parent Institutes, parent nights in Spanish.13.Continue the after school program to teach Spanish speaking parents to learn English along with their

children.14.In year 3, the EL Parent Night is "reinstituted," but it was also "reinstituted" in year 1. Also, "Importance

of Attendance" is vague.15.Training of parent volunteers could be extremely beneficial in "catching up" students who have been

absent and have missed valuable math lessons.16.We need some kind of institute for parents about parenting. Many of our parents need assistance in

knowing.

VP at each site1. It is not reasonable to share a VP between Cloverland and Magnolia. As a teacher at one of these affected

schools, we suffer greatly in the areas of leadership and curriculum support because we do not have a VP. This is seen and felt in every area of our schools and it is a very unfair practice.

2. I believe that each school whether it is elementary, jr. high, or high school should have a full time vice principal.

3. I think the goal of re-instating vice principals into two of the elementary schools should be a year 1 priority.4. We are in great need of a Vice Principal at each school site ASAP. We have increasing difficulty with

irrational parents following discipline issues. We need immediate support with classroom disruptions due to discipline. We need that second administrator on site for I.E.P. meetings.

5. Two full time vice principals are immediately necessary to the effective administration of our elementary schools and should be effective in year one. Our administrative staff is overwhelmed by the SST's, IEP's, and student discipline that needs to occur daily.

6. While I am extremely supportive of VPs at all elementary schools, I believe workload consideration needs to be in place for the elementary school with 850 students vs. the elementary school with 500 students. The larger school will get larger and the smaller school will get smaller, and 1 VP per school is not equitable. That large discrepancy in number of students leads to a highly increased workload between schools, regardless of VP. There may need to be some adjustments made in order to create an equitably supported admin. team at each of the schools. I've been an administrator at both size schools, as a VP and Principal, with and without VPs. The large student population difference is significant and should be considered when staffing schools administratively, or even providing support to those schools in different ways.

7. I feel Magnolia and Cloverland each need a VP now. There are so many issues at school that require another administrator. Not just behavior issues but situations with parents where we need support.

8. We need Vice Principals at all elementary schools at the year 1 phase (not in phase 2 or phase 3). We need the support to optimize our precious instructional minutes.

9.  As previously mentioned, having vice principals at all elementary schools needs to be a priority, beginning in Year 1 rather than later.

10.Vice principal at every school to restore better discipline and relieve over loaded principals.11.Vice Principals at every elementary site are necessary for effective discipline of students whose behavior

consistently distract away from classroom instruction time.12.The district provide a full time vice principal for each elementary site beginning Year 1 of the plan. This is

important to provide student services for SSTs, IEPs, discipline, and staff assistance.13.We need one vice-principal at each elementary site NOW to allow teachers to spend their time teaching

instead of disciplining and/or calling parents. This needs to be done the first year. I felt less supported when the vice-principals were taken away.

6

Page 28: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

VP at each site - Continued14.If you are going to allocate money to split a VP you might as well get one for each site instead of split

between two schools. Why put out money for something we know already does not work. Each school has their own set of discipline problems everyday not just two or three days a week. It is only getting worse because kids are not being held accountable for their actions because it is all falling on the teacher to do it because the principal does not have time.

15.Consider re instatement of 2 vice principals in year one.16.I think exploring the vice principal at the elementary site is great.17.One vice principal for Cloverland and Magnolia isn't working very well. Wow really need a vice principal at

both sites.18.Add an additional vice principal to the junior high staff.19.Re the shared VP position this is no different than the ineffective situation currently in place. This is not a

position that can be shared and bring about an effective change at either location. A full time VP at each site is desperately needed.

20.ALL elementary sites need a vice-principal! There is too much that is required of a principal when he/she has to do the job of 2.

21.There already is a shared academic coach at Cloverland and Magnolia, so that should not be a goal in year 1. Move up the time line of getting VP's at all elementary sites, regardless of enrollment.

22.To add full time Asst. Principals at both Cloverland and Magnolia. 23.Consider VP at Charter.24.Full time Vice Principal at ALL elementary sites.25.Vice principals are desperately needed now at Cloverland and Magnolia. The students are coming with

more and more critical emotional problems causing discipline issues. I would love to implement all my wonderful training of new programs but I am continually dealing with problems-all the way to CPS.

Teachers/Counselors26.At Magnolia, the Title 1 teacher position needs to full time. This position needs to be both Read 180/ELD

teacher.27.We need to have a full time counselor at Magnolia. We also need a full time health clerk. A full time VP will

help with the discipline issues we face daily.28.There needs to be a full time GATE classroom. The pull out program is very disrupted and the students are

not being provided services they deserve. Two hours a week is not enough.29.Include maintaining the services of our district science teacher, or even expanding her services, so we can

access her for actual lessons that go with our units of study.30.We need a certificated Title 1 teacher at each elementary site.31.It would be nice to see some planning time built in here for elementary teachers. We currently have our

recess (which is eaten up by yard duty 40% of the week)time and 30 minutes during music. The rest is on our own time. The new curriculum is going to take a tremendous amount of time to do well.

6

Page 29: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

Teachers/Counselors - Continued7. Not all programs that existed in 2008 when cuts began should necessarily be "restored" to the same

pre-cut levels. It is now 6 years later and all programs should be judged based on their current efficacy. I would need rationale before I agree that the level of GATE funding should be a given across the 3 year time-line.

8. I believe that the recruitment and retention of the most highly qualified staff is paramount. 9. Include a district science coach.10.Increase/restore budget at Valley Oak IS High School to cover the cost of purchasing new books, both

textbooks and elective books and materials.11.GATE should not be a pull out program. I do not see it benefiting the GATE students.12. The possibility of an elementary PE teacher either district wide, site-shared, or ideally, one at each site

would allow for grade level collaboration time.13.The district provide a certificated title one teacher at each elementary site.14.Consider a district wide full time GATE class.15.Need to offer competitive wages to hire and retain the best teachers/staff. This has the biggest impact

on students.16.Consideration of personnel re-structuring at Valley Oak.17.Specific certificated staff for programs: Read 180, Title One, ELD instruction.18.Fund district science program with full time teacher, fund site instructional coaches, establish and fund

credentialed PE teachers for the elementary sites.19.CTE funding, student teacher ratios lower, restore teachers from positions eliminated.20.Increase budget for high school science. Our budget at the high school has always been the same as

every other department despite our greater needs. We've taken cuts, and are currently doing our best to service our students with less than a dollar per student for the entire year. We have to buy chemicals, demonstration equipment, and other consumables, in addition to the usual materials every classroom needs.

21.We should have a full-time GATE teacher in each elementary.22.PE teacher and program for elementary, allowing teachers an additional prep period which is much

needed with the implementation of common core.Classified23.I would like to see the district office staffing be given an equal opportunity to recover cut positions

instead of cramming more work on existing employees!24.Reinstate classified support positions that were not filled when an employee left the district. Many

positons have absorbed additional workloads.25.Reinstate School bus substitute positions would improve efficiency and employee moral.

6

Page 30: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

Classified - Continued4. Having a standby substitute bus driver will help immensely with our staff feeling stressed

not being able to take time off because of enormous amounts of field trips. We do sometimes have drivers driving while being a little sick because the School bus driver is a very specialized occupation that we cannot just call a sub.

5. Increase Health Clerk hours.6. Love the idea of full time Health Clerk! 7. Transportation was hit hard. Would like to see more shuttle stops to help keep students

safe. 8. Maintenance position was never replaced..would like to see at least one more maintenance

person to help handle our districts growing work load.Outdoor Ed9. I would not like to see the district cover the full cost of a week of Outdoor Ed. $50/student is

what used to be covered, and I am in support of the restoration of that contribution.10.Reinstituting the district contribution for Outdoor Education. Having taken several classes

to Outdoor Ed myself, the learning and experiences of that trip are irreplaceable. The district reinstituting their contribution would show their support for this valuable program.

11.I am happy about the restoration of district support for Outdoor Ed; however, I wouldn't like to see it at such a high level that it affects retention of teachers and other programs.

12.I do not think the district should contribute to Outdoor Ed.13.Contribute the a little more for students attending outdoor ed, however I believe that no

student can be denied due to not making up the difference, according to ed. code.14.As for outdoor ed $$ why not build specific fundraisers for individual student accounts in

FIFTH grade to defray individual family costs? Fund raising in sixth is a little late IMHO. 15.Outdoor Ed funding (at least $50 per student).16.I think it is really important that the district pay a portion for the outdoor ed. I hope they

can keep the conversations going between the PTC's. This is an important piece in our student's education that would be lost.

Other17.Change the term "retainment" to "retention“.18.Competitive compensation negtiatie any changes in work conditions.19.The plus point is seeing an expanded music budget. 20.Add a student summer program that provides kids an opportunity to practice their skills in a

fun setting (more hands-on or project-based learning).

Interventions1. Give enrollment priority to intervention needing students in the afterschool program verses the paying

students.2. Due to the size of Fair Oaks Elementary School we are not able to service a great number of student in our

after school intervention programs. We can't add students to our intervention classes because our paid number of students is so high. We need to look at adding more support in this area so that we can service the most number of kids. Look at providing transportation for those kids that need intervention programs.

3. So many times I have students who need intervention/ resource help but they do not qualify. The special ed test does not test what is going on academically in class. The tests need to be coordinated and test the actual skills that are being presented in class.

4. Implement ELA and Math interventions for the students can can't qualify for resource but are still behind in elementary schools, especially primary grades.

5. Interventions need to be available for all students, especially the primary grade levels including Kindergarten.

6. There seems to be a lot of training, but where is the "meat" of intervention. I have been in training before where we get a binder, yet the support is not there.

7. Perhaps we could utilize the HS helpers program here for intervention as well. Just having someone to sit next to 2-3 under achieving students during core instruction would create more time on task and make immediate feedback available. (and it's free)

8. Revision of RTI model to provide for cycles of intervention included in the SST process to divert students from Special Education that can be served in the mainstream environment. Interventions to include during the school day cycles of intervention programs that happen during the school day to support student growth and achievement for targeted and strategic interventions.

9. Once again, support staff REALLY needs to be on board/trained here!10.For intervention programs (ASPIRE) we need more prep time and resources to serve students.11.Training for Response to Intervention teachers in the After school program.12.Specific training for Autism and ED training should be included in the language of goal number 7.13.Elementary summer session intervention, improve access to after school programs by hiring more staff and

better transportation options.14.Any intervention program during the school day needs to have qualified personnel. Currently, some

classrooms are impacted as a classroom teacher takes a small group (12-15) students for read 180 intervention, leaving one classroom teacher with a combined class of 40 plus students. This is an unfair practice that has a negative impact on the students that could be excelling but are not given the proper learning environment. Intervention cannot be administered at the expense of other students.

7

Page 34: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

Interventions – Continued15.I can't say enough how we need certificated and classified support staff for intervention programs

and services for our students at the elementary level. I appreciate parents that volunteer their time to help but many times their good intentions are not the support needed for true academic support and intervention. It also becomes touchy for confidentiality in working with students that have special needs.

16.Goal 7 doesn't include intervention for social and emotional needs for students. I see only on the academic needs.

17.All interventions need to be delivered by highly qualified teachers. Aides to support highly qualified teachers at a ratio of 6 to 1.

18.Two elementary school psychologists will help identify students in need of interventions in a more effective timely manner.

19.Student who require interventions continue to be the most perplexing to educators. The current execution at the High School in regard to interventions for at risk students continues to be an area in great need of reform and attention. Review all aspects of this plan, including the duties and tasks of the counseling / administrative staffs.

20.High enrollment limits access to interventions. Change of boundaries? Add extra support staff?21.If our district goal is to have all students reading on grade level by grade three, what will be done to

support this endeavor in k-3? Classroom teachers need additional support in those grade levels in getting struggling readers up to par. Defined intervention is sorely needed.

Assessments22.Assessments need to be updated to align with the current standards. 23.Would love more time to review and comment.24.We need certificated and classified staff for assessment and education.25.Get rid of quick checks since they look more like STAR test than the Common Core assessments.26.Shorten the SST form. Currently upper grade elementary teachers have to refill in information from

K- current grade. Possibly require just filling in the current year information and allowing copying of the previous year.

7

Page 35: Oakdale Jt Unified School District - LCAP Stakeholder Input Summary

Other1. Evaluate over all class for possible need for more 3 hour aides.2. A full time Vice Principal at all elementary school sites every year to help teachers with discipline issues and

coaching...More of a pay raise on the scale for certified staff and not just a one time bonus...A certified reading teacher for intervention that is not a regular classroom teacher at each elementary school...A certified ELD teacher at each elementary site...At elementary school sites, in upper grades (3-6) to have class size reduction of 28-30 students or under.

3. Certificated staff for Read 180 program.4. Great suggestions already listed. Valuable and consistent intervention is key.5. There are strong concerns with the number of support staff needed to implement this goal. More hires?

More hours? Depth of training needed to properly service the various needs will be critical.6. At the middle school level could we possibly group the EL students for math like we group them for English.

It would be nice to have them all in one period as opposed to spreading them out throughout the day.7. Train teachers specifically to successfully teach O.D.D students, autistic students of varying degrees...etc.

Autism training should be listed.8. I totally agree that students begin to use things as a crutch. Sometimes I see that student get lazy because

they know they don't need to work as hard. :) 9. Autism training should be listed. Also, speech services are greatly stretched; hiring a new speech instructor

would greatly help.

College Readiness1. Pathways are too narrow as currently planned and executed. Current execution at the high school over-

emphasizes resources for "4 year college bound" students. The 21st century is calling for new pathways to financial and emotional success. The 4 year college bound continue to get the lions share of financial and human resources as if it were still the 1970's.

2. We need to build a pathway for Business and especially computer technology/programing.3. I believe technology (et.al.) should be a focus like the Ag program.4. Begin college readiness in elementary school with dedicated GATE classes replacing the pull-out program.Voc Ed5. Maintain and expand the ROP medical program we currently offer. Also, how about offering a pathway in the

cosmetology field?6. I think it is extremely important to keep voc. ed.Career Readiness7. Embed career opportunity programs for students in grades 5-6.8. Not all kids want to or will attend college. Will this new program value those students by giving them a

pathway to a career in a skill-based job? Are we going to value those career choices and support that career path?

9. I am concerned that we have not addressed domestic engineering. The average MOM is equivalent to a $130,000. job. What are we doing to teach these young adults to actually function in a house hold community?

Ag10.OHS will need to HAVE to work with Ag college incoming freshman needs and then work backwards in order

to develop classes grades 9-12. Funding for some of these classes could possibly be tied into the donations to the Universities who are looking to high level freshman. There are a tremendous amount of alumni and corporations who would gladly donate to a high school who is serious about producing high level college ready students in the field of Ag.

11.Great to move forward on focusing on practical Ag skills and opportunities since Ag is a growing industry all over the USA now and in the future ... :]

12.The emphasis on Ag Education will not only benefit the vocational education student but many others through the public speaking and leaderships roles also included in an Ag Program through the FFA program.

13.Ag program expansion without CTE support?14.Wonderful start; I believe you will see more community and parental support.15.Explanation off ag very exiting for this community and beneficial.Other16.STEM goals starting at a young age to build a solid foundation.17.What is being done to bridge the students who are at risk so they are able to access career and college

readiness. We need to make it more equitable.18.Exciting goals great job!

What final revisions of the LCAP might we consider? • K-2 iPads

o Begin Phase I in 2016-2017o $855,000

• Accelerate placement of VPs at Cloverland and Magnolia to 2014-2015 school year

• Increase site and other discretionary budgets by an amount to be determined by district revenue

• Expansion of high school Elementary School Helper Program
