ACORN CLUB TOURNAMENTS Description: Acorn Club Tournaments are open to golf proprietary, trial full members and young executive members. Senior

members may play in one day events using their one weekend play day per month. Weekday Members may play in Couples events that take place on the weekend; however, they will be charged a weekend green fee in addition to the entry fee. Guest Passes may not be used by members. You may pay the annual entry or on a tournament by tournament basis. Couples tournaments are not Acorn Club events and not included in the yearly subscription fee.

Annual Entry: $185.00. (includes NCGA Event Qualifying Stipend). You may pay the annual entry up to the 2nd event.

Afterwards you must pay on an event by event basis. Entry fees are $50.00 for the Club Championship, $40.00 for NCGA Qualifying events, and $30.00 per event otherwise. Annual entries will not be refunded if you leave the club or change member status.

Qualifier Entries: Players who qualify and compete beyond the local level in NCGA qualifying events will have their entry fees

paid at every level through to the final championship. Qualifier’s Stipend: All players who compete beyond OGCC in any NCGA events will split the qualifier’s stipend for that event evenly

if they attempted to qualify in that event, even if they are a substitute. The stipend will be $7.50 per player for each player attempting to qualify in that NCGA Event.

TOC & Acorn Cup: The top 60 men and 24 women & ties based on Acorn cup points after the Razzle Dazzle who meet all the

qualifying requirements will qualify for the Tournament of Champions and play for the Acorn Cup. There will be no substitutes.

TIES: All major trophy events will settle a tie for first place gross and net with a sudden death play-off hole. All

Qualifying events will settle any ties for qualification with a sudden death play-off hole. All other events will break a tie for first place flight winners by a card off using the back 9, if still tied then last 6, followed by last 3 holes based on the scoring system of the tournament. If still tied the process will be repeated on the front 9 holes. Holiday couples’ tournaments will also break a tie for second place.

TOURNAMENT AWARDS DINNER: The following winners will qualify for the annual tournament awards dinner:

• The winner of any trophy event (Club Championships, Member/Member & TOC)

• Overall Gross and Net winners of Acorn Club Tournaments

• Flight winners of Acorn Club Tournaments

• Overall Gross winners of Holiday Couples Tournaments

• Flight winners and second place finishers in Holiday Couples Tournaments

• Any of the top 20 men or top 10 women in the Acorn club points race after the TOC Acorn tournament who do not qualify from the above listed qualifying events will also be invited.

Individuals who qualify are eligible to bring one guest as reward for their qualifying. Couples that qualify (individually or as a couple) may not each bring a guest. You must be a proprietary member of the club upon the date of the dinner to remain eligible to attend the dinner. An exception to this applies if you win a trophy event. All trophy event winners are invited if a member of the club.

INFORMATION & GENERAL RULES FOR ALL TOURNAMENTS The information listed herein is as accurate as possible for each event to begin the season, but the Tournament Committee, inclement weather, or abnormal course conditions may require changes to the rule sheets. Changes will be noted on either the tournament sign-up and/or format sheets provided prior to each event. In the event a situation necessitates suspension of play a siren will be sounded by the GM or golf pro staff. Upon hearing the siren all players are to stop play immediately and mark their ball where it lies and proceed back to the club house. The tournament committee with the General Manager and Head Golf Professional will determine whether play will resume, cease for a period not to exceed 2 hours, or reschedule. Players that do not return to play when play is resumed will be disqualified and no points awarded. The following apply to all participants in all tournaments:

1. USGA & local rules apply to all events herein. Exceptions will be noted on the rules sheet prior to each event.

2. Any player who does not have at least five 18-hole scores posted in the previous 18 months will have their handicap inactivated and must use 90% of their NCGA 12 month Low Index to calculate their handicap until their tournament handicap is active again.

3. Events herein use the OGCC Tournament Handicap index to calculate all tournament handicaps. If you do not have an OGCC

tournament handicap index you will use 90% of your NCGA Low Index of the last 12 months to calculate your tournament handicap. If you do not have a NCGA handicap you cannot participate in the event. All NCGA handicaps must be administered by OGCC otherwise you cannot participate.

4. Exchange scorecards with your fellow competitors, attest scorecards upon completion and return them immediately after

the round to the designated scoring area.

5. If there are less than 96 players signed up for any couple’s tournament other non-tournament players will be allowed to join the field, but they must pay the applicable meal fee for the event.

6. Juniors age 14 and up may participate along with either of their member parents in Holiday Couples’ Tournaments, The

Turkey Shoot (with any adult member), Twilight Golf, and the Couples’ Shootout. Juniors of any age may participate in the Junior Boys or Girls Championship Flight of The Club Championship.

7. Music may not be played during any Acorn Club Events, whether it be from a cart, radio, or with headphones. Players will

be given a 1 time warning, after which they will be subject to disqualification. This applies even if the other members of the group are OK with music.

8. Non-Member participants in any event listed herein will be subject to using 90% of their NCGA low index of the last 12

months as the tournament index to enable handicaps to be calculated. Members or Non-Members may have their handicap cut by the handicap committee if they have a history of exceptional tournament performance in OGCC Events.

9. Summer Rules will be in effect unless otherwise noted on the provided rules sheet.

10. Any use of cell phones to make or receive phone calls during the tournaments is strongly advised against, any cell phone

ring noise that distracts an opponent can lead to disqualification. The only exception is for communication with golf shop or restaurant. Type-texting is O.K. as long as it does not unduly delay play.

11. When a chip off is used to break a tie in an event (example horse race) all participants (both team members) in a chip-off must turn their backs so there will be no advantage in the order of play. Participants must remain with their backs turned until the previous player’s ball is marked, and the next participant’s name is called by the event coordinator. The penalty for “looking” will be automatic disqualification. No exceptions. Failure to follow these procedures may be reported by onlookers or observed by the event coordinator and must be reported to the event coordinator before the results of the chip-off are announced. If the infraction is reported by onlookers, it must be witnessed by two or more persons. The tournament committee will have final authority over all decisions. All participants and gallery are requested to please remain silent and refrain from comment, cheer, etc. during the chip off.

2021 O.G.C.C. TOURNAMENT HANDICAP Participants in all tournaments listed in the O.G.C.C. Tournament Program will play to their Oakdale Golf & Country Club Tournament index unless it is more than 1.7 strokes higher than their current NCGA World Handicap index where it will be capped. The calculation is listed below. SCORES POSTED: The adjusted score for all events in this program where there is an individual score as well as the Men’s, Ladies,

Couples, and Senior’s Invitationals will be posted to the OGCC Tournament Handicap. The cut-off date to calculate the tournament handicap will be the Wednesday prior to any event or 3 days prior to the event if not held on a Saturday.

DATE RANGE: Only tournament scores from a rolling 18 month period will be eligible to be counted. MINIMUM SCORES: If you do not have at least 5 tournament scores you will use 90% of your low 12 month NCGA index as the

starting point for all index calculations until you do, unless you are subject to the opt-out penalty. New OGCC Members will also use 90% of their low 12 month NCGA index as the starting point for all calculations.

OPT-OUT PENALTY: Any player who opts-out of competing in at least 2 OGCC Tournaments (that have a postable round) for the

entire previous calendar year, without an excusable injury, will use 80% of his/her lowest NCGA index of the last 12 months to calculate handicaps until he/she has an established OGCC Tournament Handicap index. If you have a plus index, then the calculation will be divided instead of multiplied.

MATCH PLAY: All match play scores will count in the OGCC Tournament Handicap, however, after a match has been decided

both players will be required to post par + their handicap for the remainder of the holes. In addition, a player that is conceded a shot in match play must post what he/she most likely would have made had they played out that hole.

ADJUSTMENT: Scores will be adjusted by the OGCC Method, where a member may take the number of double bogeys = to

their playing handicap up to an 18 handicap. Then they may take triple bogeys = to the amount their handicap is over an 18 if it is higher. Triple bogey will be the maximum score allowed on any hole.

FORMULATION: The OGCC Tournament Handicap is capped at using the lowest 5 out of the last 10 tournament scores. The

formulation table for players with 5 or more scores will be as follows. 5 Tournament Scores …………………………… Lowest 2 out of Last 5 6 Tournament Scores …………………………… Lowest 3 out of Last 6 7 Tournament Scores …………………………… Lowest 3 out of Last 7 8 Tournament Scores …………………………… Lowest 4 out of Last 8 9 Tournament Scores …………………………… Lowest 4 out of Last 9 10 Tournament Scores……………………………… Lowest 5 out of Last 10 EXAMPLE CALCULATION: An example calculation for 2 best balls from a foursome

• Players use 85% of their respective index’s Player A has a OGCC Tournament index of 10.2 and will play from the blue tees

• 0.85 x 10.2 = 8.67 (rounded to 8.7)

• 8.7 x 134/113 + (71.8 – 72) = 10.12

• This rounds to a playing handicap of 10. Player B does not have a OGCC tournament handicap. His 12 month low index is 11.6

• 11.6 x 0.9 = 10.44

• 0.85 x 10.44 = 8.87 (rounded to 8.9)

• 8.9 x 134/113 + (71.8 – 72) = 10.35

• This rounds to a playing handicap of 10.

THE 2021 ACORN CUP EVENT TYPES: The T.O.C., Founder’s Cup, and Club Championship are premier events that have their own point scales. Qualifiers are the NCGA 4-Person Zone Qualifier, NCGA net individual qualifier and NCGA Four-Ball Qualifier. Standard Event points are determined by the number of players on a team (2 or 4). TIES FOR A PLACE: Players that tie for a place will receive all the points for that place and any subsequent places they would occupy divided evenly amongst them. Half points are rounded up. PARTICIPATION: All players who finish a tournament will receive a minimum of 5 points for participation in that event. Players who participate in all 8 tournaments prior to the T.O.C. will receive a 30 point bonus, 7 of 8 tournaments a 20 point bonus and 6 of 8 a 10 point bonus. BONUS POINTS: Net: In either the Men’s or Ladies’ Divisions, the Lowest Overall Net Team or Individual will receive bonus points. If it is an individual tournament, they receive a 15 Point Bonus, a two-person event they get a 10 point Bonus, and a four-person event they get a 5 Point Bonus per person in addition to what they earn in their flight. You may only receive bonus points gross or net (not both) with gross taking precedence. Gross: In the Men’s Division, the Lowest Overall Gross Team or Individual will receive bonus points in the same fashion as listed above, however, that bonus can only bring them up to equal what the winner of their respective flight earns, not more. Due to the small number of potential winners, there is no gross bonus in the ladies’ division. Ties: If there are ties for bonus points all players or teams tied will receive the applicable bonus points for that place divided evenly amongst them. MINIMUM: You must play in a minimum of 3 Acorn events to qualify for the Tournament of Champions. TOC & WINNING THE CUP: The top 60 men and 24 women and ties with the highest point totals after the Razzle Dazzle will qualify for the Tournament of Champions and play for the Acorn Cup. The player with the most points after the TOC will win The Acorn Cup. There will be no substitutes to the field if qualified players do not play. ACORN POINTS RACE MEN’S LADIES’ WINNERS: 1st - $300.00 6th $150.00 1st - $250.00 2nd - $250.00 7th $125.00 2nd - $200.00 3rd - $225.00 8th $100.00 3rd - $150.00 4th - $200.00 9th $75.00 4th - $100.00 5th - $175.00 10th $50.00 5th - $50.00

will be given 3 weeks to be completed. Players must be available for at least 50% of the weekend days in the 3 week period. If players cannot come to a mutual agreeable time in the 3 week period and both have been available to play for at least 50% of the weekend days during this period then the winner will be decided by a coin toss by the golf professional staff. If a player has not been available for 50% of the weekend days and the match can’t be played, then that player will forfeit the match. The match schedule is as follows.

to play from. The flights will be based on the tees you sign up for. A minimum of 12 players are required for a tee for a flight to be held, 24 for 2 flights. If the number of players for a particular tee falls on a number that can not satisfy the minimum of 12 and the maximum of 16 then these players who signed up for this tee last will be moved to the tee with higher participation. This tee will be the tee with the most members signed up. If there are still players that do not fit the flights sizes of 12 – 16 then players will be awarded spots based on order of sign up.

HANDICAPS: All players will be handicapped using their OGCC tournament index as of February 3rd for the duration of the event.

Any player without an OGCC tournament handicap will play to 90% of their 12 month low NCGA index. SCORECARDS: All matches will follow the match play rules of stroking off the low course handicapper of the match. All score

WEEKLY PAYOUT: For weekly payouts, teams will finish and be paid in order of the team with most total holes won, both individually and by their 2 best ball teams. For this reason, as well as the fact that teams will earn points toward the league title according to how many holes they won, all players will play out every hole, even if both their individual and best ball matches have been decided. LEAGUE POINTS: Teams earn points for the league each week in the following manner. All winning teams will be awarded 2 points for winning the match and be placed in the top half and earn position points based on the total holes they have won starting from 8 or 10 depending on the number of teams in the event and descending one point per position. All losing teams will be in bottom half and will earn points in the same descending order with the team with the most holes won amongst the losing teams earning the most points, either 5 or 4 depending on the number of teams for the season. In the playoffs the winner is decided by the team who wins the most matches, in the case of a tie then holes won will be the tie breaker. If still tied, each team will choose two players to play a sudden death team match. Play will start from the first hole, continuing until one team wins.

Page 22: OAKDALE GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
