Dear Delegates of National Congress,

We are pleased to welcome the 400 Canadian and international delegates to participate in an amazing experience in Toronto. AIESEC Toronto is very excited to host the 2014 National Congress in the capital of Ontario and provide an unforgettable experience for you. Together with the newly elected Member Committee President, this will be a great opportunity to strengthen important leadership and functional skills to help you successfully execute the national strategy. Furthermore, this conference will provide you opportunities to expand your network, strengthen professional skills and develop as influential leaders driven to make an impact on the world.The OC team has been working diligently to provide the best conference experience possible. General Information

Parking

Complimentary indoor garage parking (3 levels) and outdoor parking is available for the delegates. No permit required

Pre-conference Room reservations

For those that want to arrive earlier than December 30th and require a room, it is $99 + tax per night per room. Please e-mail Louis Yee at [email protected] with your name, roommate names, e-mails and phone numbers. Each room has a max-imum occupancy of 4! Let Louis know before December 20th to secure a room for you at the hotel.

Room Service

During the conference, you will not have any access to room service, pay-per-view television or any other fee-based hotel services. If you would like to activate these services, you will need to register your credit card number with the front desk.

Alcohol

In Ontario, the legal drinking age is 19. Beer and wine can be purchased at any LCBO. The nearest one is at 8783 Yonge street, Richmond Hill.Also, please note that outside alcohol may only be consumed inside your hotel room and not in any public area of the hotel. This includes the plenary room, the dining rooms, the breakout rooms and all hallways. Any outside liquor seen outside of hotel rooms may be confiscated by hotel staff or by the OC.

Plenary Guidelines

If your LC is planning on having an A/V presentation for opening plenary, please ensure you adhere to the following guidelines or your presentation will not be shared at the conference

Accepted Media Formats

Media Presentations must be no longer than two minutes, at which point the presentation will be ended

The filename of the presentation must be as follows:LCname_nc_2014

Media Presentations must be in one of the following formats:PowerPoint (.ppt), Flash (.flv), Quicktime (.mov), Windows Media (.wmv), Real Player (.rm), Music (.mp3, .wav, .ram, .wma)

**All Audio and Video must be embedded into your presentation and play automatically. We are not responsible for synchronizing music/video to your presentation.

How to Submit

Opening Plenary Presentation files must be submitted at registration on De-cember 30th between 12-2pmMedia Presentation files must be submitted via memory stick or CD, with your LC name written/taped.Please reclaim this CD at the end of plenary

If there are special instructions as to how the presentation is to be played, legible, detailed instructions must be provided alongside your presentation files A member of your LC should be present in the plenary room a half hour before opening plenary to test run your LC’s presentation.

**We are not responsible for presentation files correctly playing. In order to ensure your presentation is working correctly, it is a good idea to test it beforehand on multiple computers.

Sustainability – A Matter of Conscience or Just Good Business?

This keynote session will explore the concept of sustainable business for a sustainable world including environmental and social issues as they relate to business. Some examples of sustainable business practices will be provided along with a discussion about the role of the professional accountant and the need for leadership in relation to transparency, risk man-agement and professional conduct. The session will also touch on conscience and its rele-vance to corporate or leadership behavior and what it might look like.

Gord Beal, CPA, CA, M.Ed, Vice-President, Research Guidance & Support, CPA CanadaGordon Beal is the Vice President, Research, Guidance and Support with Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Canada. Gord leads a team of professionals who conduct research, produce technical guidance, and develop thought leadership in a broad range of areas including financial reporting; audit and assurance; enhanced report-ing and disclosure; information management and technology; sus-tainability; and governance and risk oversight in the corporate and non-profit sectors.

Since joining the CICA in 2004 Gord has lead a number of nationally focused projects in Knowledge Development and Education Services. Prior to the CICA, Gord held a variety of senior leadership roles in finance and operations with publicly listed and privately held Canadian and multi-national corporations, and a senior consulting role in the Ontario gov-ernment. He began his career in professional services with Clarkson Gordon and Ernst and Young. Gord has volunteered as a Board member, Audit and Finance Committee Chair, and member of the Governance Committee with a number of non-profit organizations. He has also worked with a variety of local and national charitable organizations, providing volunteer guidance and advisory support in the areas of financial reporting, board governance and risk management.

A Chartered Professional Accountant and a CA, Gord holds a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce and Economics from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Education from Brock Uni-versity. His primary area of professional interest is the role of professional accountants in ethical corporate behaviour and sustainable business for a more sustainable world.
