GCC acts as a nonpartisan platform for students and professionals to develop their global networks of personal and professional relationships. Our management is located in New York and Beijing, but our network includes university chapters throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

To facilitate a future where connections with China define and strengthen the international community.
WHAT WE DO
Hosting conferences that promote discussion about Chinas development is a focus of Global China Connection. In 2009, GCC hosted two conferences that brought together leading thinkers to share their knowledge and participate in the conversation about China's future. These forums based on issues such as the global financial crisis, sustainable development, political corruption, as well as relations between locals and multinational corporations.
IN JUST FOUR YEARS Four years ago, GCC consisted of a few students from Columbia University and a handful of other universities in North America; today, our chapter network extends to over 60 universities across the globe. In 2007, we started as a small organization with a big dream. Today, we are building relationships that will change the world.

TOPIC 1 FINANCE, TRADE AND ECONOMICS With uncertainties looming over global macroeconomics, many looked to China - a country with over 3 trillion dollars of foreign reserves and near 10% annual growth since 2008 to save the day. However, some argues that China is due to have a hard landing. This panel will examine the health of the Chinese economy, pegging of the Chinese Yuan, its impacts on international trade and effects on Chinese internal consumption. More, insights regarding the efficiencies of the Chinese equities market, relative lack of investment vehicles as well as transparencies of Chinese companies will be shared.

To a large extent, the Chinese government acting through sets of comprehensive central policies controls the overall direction of the worlds second largest economy. It is therefore imperative for business leaders to understand the objectives and underlying drivers of governmental decisions. This panel will dissect the interplay between social forces, governmental policies and private sector demands.
