Lost And Found

Welcome to “Lost and Found Sunday”! Just in case being in church makes us proudly consider ourselves especially religious, today’s Gospel suggests that we’d be wiser to admit that we’re sometimes lost. Then we’ll eventually be happily counted among Jesus’ “found,” because today Jesus focuses on a lost sheep, lost coin, lost son. Jesus does so because the Pharisees and scribes, proudly considering themselves especially religious, “began to complain” that Jesus “welcomes sinners and eats with them.” So Jesus warns them—and us—to stop judging others. Marvel instead that God’s amazing grace has found us! Indeed, we should become Jesus’ friends lovingly trying to find others. So Exodus asks, if God “relented in punishment” and pardoned us, shouldn’t we forgive fellow sinners graciously? Even Paul admits his “arrogance” as “foremost among sinners.” We too, happy at being “mercifully treated,” should share with everyone else Jesus’ unfailing patience. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Safe Environment Training

If you are a volunteer at St. Elizabeth, you need to be current with your requirements, of fingerprinting and of attending a Safe Environment class.

Safe Environment Training Class certification needs to be renewed every three years.

We are offering this training in our facility as follows:

RCIA Program

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is for those interested in learning about the Catholic faith, and for those wanting to complete the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, or Confirmation.

RCIA is a process through which one gets to know our Lord Jesus Christ, as revealed in Holy Scripture and in Holy Tradition.

RCIA Classes will begin in couple of weeks. It is once more an invitation to each of us to invite those we know who have fallen away or are not educating their children in the faith to come and reawaken their faith and the faith of their children in the love and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

From September 22 through Pentecost, the RCIA group meets Sunday mornings from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, in the St. Elizabeth Room. For more information, or if you would like to register for the program, please contact the Parish Office at (408) 262-8100.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus:

The grace, peace and love of God be with you and may joy and harmony always reign in your homes.

We all seek and want our children to behave well. We hope that in our presence or absence they are safe and sound, but often it does not happen that way. Sometimes they make wrong decisions that cause us pain and worry. We reach maturity at different ages, and while many life experi-ences are satisfactory, many others are a headache. And we are not unique, because again and again, we repeat mistakes. For example, although the people of Israel had looked at how God had been present in rescuing them from Egypt, along their way, they easily forgot. While Moses was absent, they made a golden idol to worship it, forgetting the true God, showing much ingratitude in their human behavior. How easily we forget the blessings received (Exodus 32:7-11,13-14).

The intercession of Moses made God slow to anger and rich in mercy. This is how we remember our parents; despite us being disobedient many times, living without respecting them, they still love us and always wait for the day that we will get back on track.

Jesus in the Gospel reminds us of the goodness of God and the beauty of freedom, but also the intelligence of the man who knows how to reflect and think about the greatness of the home, to which we must always return.

The sinner is always received with joy, when, after reflecting, he discovers what his origin and destiny are, and that man does not identify with human misery, which are vices, disorder and immorality, which destroy his life. But discovering himself as the son of God, he must rise from that same misery to the dignity of a son, with a new heart and thought, and return to the Father's love to face true destiny through forgiveness and peace. Let us always return after recognizing our mistakes and fail-ures, to our Father who always awaits us with open arms, full of love, there in our home that begins here in the Church and through the sacraments directs us to the Eternal Homeland (Luke 15: 1-32).

Although Jesus did teach some particular formal lessons, He seemed to prefer more informal encounters. Such unexpected moments brought grace to Zacchaeus, Simon, and the Samaritan woman (cf. Mt 26:6; Lk 10:1; Jn 4:7). Jesus did not reject the apostles because of their failure to understand him or their obstinacy. Do not be discouraged, but be patient and kind to those who may be cruel, malevolent, or selfish toward you. God's grace will eventually win them over. There are many families and communities that speak only the language of mere words with each other. If they would learn to speak seriously, heart to heart, they would come closer together.

Chúa nhật, ngày 15 tháng 09 năm 2019 Anh Chị Em thân mến trong Đức Giêsu Kitô,

Nguyện xin ân sủng, bình an và tình yêu của Thiên Chúa ở cùng Anh Chị Em, và tôi cũng ước mong niềm vui và sự hòa hợp luôn ngự trị trong Gia đình Anh Chị Em.

Chúng ta ai cũng mong muốn con cái mình biết hành xử đúng đắn. Chúng ta luôn hy vọng chúng được bình yên, nhưng không phải lúc nào cũng được như vậy. Đôi khi chúng có những quyết định sai khiến ta phải đau buồn, lo lắng.

Mỗi người chúng ta trưởng thành ở các lứa tuổi khác nhau: một số người hài lòng về những gì mình đã trải qua, nhưng nhiều người khác lại gặp chuyện phiền não. Chúng ta không có gì đặc biệt nổi trội, vì cứ thường xuyên mắc phải những lỗi lầm, hết lần này đến lần khác. Hãy xem ví dụ của những người Do Thái được Chúa cứu vớt ra khỏi Ai Cập, nhưng sau đó trong suốt cuộc hành trình, họ lại dễ dàng quên mất điều đó. Khi vắng mặt Môise, họ tạc tượng thần bằng vàng để thờ, quên hẳn Thiên Chúa. Còn vô số những sự vô ơn của con người, ta dễ dàng quên đi mau chóng những ơn lành đã được nhận hưởng (Ex. 32:7-11; 13-14).

Những việc Môise đã làm, giúp ta thấy được Thiên Chúa chậm bất bình và giàu lòng thương xót. Điều này giúp chúng ta nhớ lại chính cha mẹ của mình: biết bao lần chúng ta không vâng lời, bất kính, nhưng cha mẹ vẫn yêu thương và chờ đợi cho đến ngày chúng ta biết nghĩ lại và quay về nẻo chính, đường ngay.

Chúa Giêsu trong Tin Mừng nhắc nhở cho chúng ta biết về sự thiện hảo của Thiên Chúa và vẻ đẹp của sự tự do, nhưng đồng thời cũng cho ta thấy sự sáng suốt của người thanh niên sau khi biết tự kiểm điểm đời sống mình, nghĩ đến giá trị vô vàn của nhà Cha, nơi ta luôn phải quay trở về.

Kẻ phạm nhân, sau khi đã nhìn lại, khám phá được cội nguồn và số phần đích thực của mình, luôn được hân hoan đón nhận lúc quay trở về. Người phạm nhân ấy không bị gắn cho những điều tệ hại của con người: kẻ tội phạm, vô trật tự, vô đạo đức... những điều đã phá huỷ cuộc sống anh ta.

Khi nhận ra mình là con cái Thiên Chúa, người phạm tội phải biết đứng lên ngay từ chỗ tệ hại ấy, để nhận lấy phẩm giá của một người con với trái tim và tâm trí hoàn toàn đổi mới, quay trở về với tình yêu của Cha, hầu trực diện với số phận thực sự của mình qua sự tha thứ và niềm an bình.

Chúng ta hãy luôn biết quay trở về mỗi khi nhận ra các lầm lỗi và bị vấp ngã; Cha chúng ta luôn chờ đợi với cánh tay rộng mở, chan chứa tình yêu, nơi đó là nhà của chúng ta; khởi đầu từ chính Giáo hội này, và nhờ những nhiệm tích đưa ta về Quê Hương Vĩnh Cửu (Lc. 15:1-32).

Bài đọc 1: Xh 32:7-11;13-14 Dân Do Thái đã phạm tội thờ ngẫu tượng, nhưng Chúa đã tha thứ tội cho họ nhờ lời cầu khẩn của Môisen.

Phút Suy Tư: Hãy Nắm Tay Con Một cô gái nhỏ và Cha đi qua một chiếc cầu. Người Cha vì lo lắng cho Con Gái, nên đã nói với Con Gái nhỏ của mình rằng - Con yêu, Con hãy nắm lấy tay cha để con không bị ngã xuống sông! - Không, thưa Cha. Cha hãy nắm lấy tay con! - Cô bé trả lời. Người Cha có một chút bối rối, hỏi lại: - Có gì khác nhau đâu? - Có sự khác nhau lớn, thưa Cha! - Cô bé đáp - Nếu con nắm lấy tay cha và có điều xảy ra với con , có thể là con sẽ buông tay cha ra; nhưng nếu cha nắm tay con, con biết chắc chắn rằng dù có điều gì xảy ra cha sẽ không bao giờ buông tay con đâu. Trong bất kỳ một mối quan hệ nào, bản chất của lòng tin không nằm ở sự ràng buộc lời cam kết mà ở mối quan hệ và sự liên kết. Vì vậy hãy nắm lấy tay của người yêu thương mình hơn là chờ đợi người đó nắm lấy tay mình. Sự tin tưởng của cô bé thật hợp lý : không chỉ là tay nối tay, nhưng là lòng chứa đựng lòng. Có một câu kết của 1 phim truyện rất cảm động : «Nếu mọi người trên Trái đất này nắm chặt tay nhau, chúng ta có thể đi vòng quanh thế giới.» Đẹp biết bao một Thế giới có lòng, nếu mỗi người luôn quan tâm đến nhau bằng những cử chỉ tinh tế rất… nhỏ nhoi.

Hôm nay Giáo Hội kính nhớ Ðức Mẹ Ðau Khổ hay cũng thường được gọi là 7 sự thương khó của Ðức Mẹ.

Suốt cuộc đời trần thế, Mẹ Maria quả thực là một người đàn bà đau khổ. Nhưng cũng giống như người đàn bà can đảm trong câu chuyện trên đây, Mẹ luôn có Chúa bên cạnh. Còn nỗi đớn đau nào bằng khi ôm lấy xác Chúa được tháo gỡ từ thập giá? Mẹ luôn có Chúa trong lòng, từ lúc cất giữ mọi sự trong lòng để suy niệm cho đến lúc ôm lấy xác Chúa: từng phút giây của cuộc sống, Mẹ đau khổ nhưng luôn có Chúa trong lòng. Sự hiện diện của Chúa trong lòng đã giúp Mẹ đi hết cuộc hành trình Ðức Tin.

Estimados hermanos y hermanas en Cristo Jesús:

La gracia, paz y amor de Dios sean con ustedes y que en sus hogares reine siempre la

alegría, y la armonía.

Todos nosotros buscamos y queremos en nuestros hijos el buen comportamiento, esperamos que en nuestra presencia o ausencia ellos estén sanos y salvos, pero muchas veces no pasa así, algunas ocasiones ellos toman decisiones equivocadas que nos producen dolor y preocupación.

Lamentablemente la madurez llega a diferentes edades y las experiencias de vida son muchas de ellas satisfactorias y otras tantas un dolor de cabeza. Y no somos únicos, porque en todo tiempo sucede una y otra vez, repetimos errores, por ejemplo, el pueblo de Israel, aunque ha mirado como Dios ha estado presente al rescatarlos de Egipto, y a través del camino, sin embargo, el pueblo fácilmente se olvida y estando Moisés ausente, ellos se fabrican un ídolo de oro para rendirle culto, olvidando al Dios verdadero. Mucha ingratitud en el comporta-miento humano, olvidamos fácilmente las bendiciones recibidas. (Éxodo 32:7-11, 13-14).

La intercesión de Moisés hace que Dios vuelva a ser lento a la cólera, pero rico en piedad. Así recordamos a nuestros padres a pesar de muchas veces ser desobedientes, de vivir sin guardar-les el respeto que merecen, nos siguen amando y siempre esperan el día que pensemos bien y volvamos al buen camino. Jesús en el Evangelio nos recuerda la bondad de Dios y lo bello de la libertad, pero también la inteligencia del hombre que sabe reflexionar y pensar en la grandeza del hogar, al que debemos volver siempre.

El pecador es recibido siempre con alegría, cuando después de reflexionar descubre quien es, su origen y destino, y que el hombre no se identifica con la miseria humana, que son los vicios, el desorden y la inmoralidad, que destruyen su vida. Sino que descubriéndose hijo de Dios tiene que levantarse desde esa misma miseria a la dignidad de hijo con un corazón y pensamiento nuevo, volver al amor del Padre para enfrentar el destino verdadero a través del perdón y la paz.

Volvamos siempre después de reconocer nuestros errores y faltas que nuestro Padre siempre nos espera con los brazos abiertos y lleno de amor, allí en nuestro hogar que comienza aquí en la Iglesia y por los sacramentos nos dirige hacia la Patria Eterna. (Lucas 15:1-32).

Perdido y Encontrado

Bienvenido al “¡Domingo perdido y encontrado!” En caso de que al estar en la iglesia nos haga considerar sentirnos orgullos de ser religiosos, el Evangelio de hoy sugiere que sería más prudente admitir que algunas veces estamos perdidos. Para luego en última instancia estar felizmente contados entre los “encontrados” por Jesús, porque Jesús hoy se enfoca en una oveja perdida, una moneda perdida, un hijo perdido. Jesús lo hace porque los fariseos y escribas, que orgullosamente se consideran religiosos, “empiezan a quejarse” que Jesús “se reúne con pecadores y además come con ellos”. Jesús les advierte, y a nosotros también, dejar de juzgar a los demás. Por el contrario, ¡asómbrate de la extraor-dinaria gracia de Dios que nos ha encontrado! De hecho, debemos hacernos los amorosos amigos de Jesús tratando de buscar a otros. Así el Éxodo pide, si Dios “cedió en castigo” y nos perdonó, ¿no deberíamos perdonar con gracia a nuestros prójimos pecadores? Incluso Pablo admite su “arrogancia” como “el más importante entre los pecadores”. Tradiciones de Nuestra Fe

El santo Peruano Fray Juan Macías fue dominico. Este santo es reconocido como el amparo de los pobres, patrón de los emigrantes y ladrón del purgatorio. El concepto del purgatorio es un poco difícil de entender. La Iglesia adoptó la creencia en la última purificación de los elegidos (nombrado el Purgatorio) en los siglos XV y XVI en los concilios de Florencia y Trento. Ella se basa en las Escrituras que se refieren en la purificación en el fuego (1 Corintios 3:15; 1 Pedro 1:7) y en la práctica de la oración por los difuntos como aparece en 2 Macabeos 12:46 y Job 1:5. San Juan Crisóstomo dijo: “Si los hijos de Job fueron purificados por el sacrificio de su padre, ¿porqué vamos a dudar que nuestras oraciones por los difuntos puedan hacerle llegar alguna consolación a los que han muerto? Ofrezcamos pues, nuestras oraciones por los difuntos. Los que están en purgación necesitan nuestro apoyo en la oración. Pidamos por ellos”. —Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J. S. Grupo de Oración Resurrección y Vida

Invitamos a la comunidad a compartir con el Grupo de Oración Resurrección y Vida todos los miércoles a partir de las 7:00 pm en la iglesia. Nos reunimos para aprender más de la palabra, dar gracias a nuestro Padre Dios por las maravillas que hace, venimos a ofrecerle alabanzas y también tenemos conferencistas que los invitamos a darnos testimonios de fe, esperanza y caridad.

Escuche el llamado de Jesús y venga a adorarle y glorificarle.

Este domingo es el último domingo que estaremos aceptando registraciones para el programa de catequesis, si todavía no registró a sus hijos, puede hacerlo después de Misa. Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos (RICA) es para los interesados en la fe católica, y para los que quieren recibir el Bautizo, la Primera Comunión, o la Confirmación.

RICA es un proceso por el cuál uno se familiarizá con nuestro Señor Jesucristo, según fue revelado en la Santa Escritura y

en la Santa Tradición.

Es una invitación para cada uno de nosotros para invitar a aquellos que conocemos que se han alejado o que no están educando a sus hijos en la fe para que vengan y despierten su fe y la fe de sus hijos en el amor y el conoci-miento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

El grupo de RICA se reúne semanalmente el martes de 7:00 pm a 9:00 pm en el Salón de San Gerónimo a partir del 24 de septiembre hasta la festividad de Pentecostés. Para mayor información, o si desea registrarse en el programa por favor llame a la Oficina Parroquial al 408-262-8100.

Entrenamiento de Ambiente Seguro

Si es voluntario en Santa Elizabeth necesita tener las huellas digitales y también asistir a este entrenamiento de Ambiente Seguro. La certificación debe ser renovada cada tres años.

La clase es el sábado 28 de septiembre, en la iglesia a las 10:00 de la mañana. Clase será en inglés.
