This Sacred Meal

Today we celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Each of the readings includes a blessing and a sharing of food. They remind us of the central place of meals in our lives. Each meal brings to mind other meals: the sharing of cookies and milk, pizza and beer, loaves and fishes, bread and wine. When we prepare a meal for our family, our friends, even strangers, we always put something of ourselves into the preparation and the meal itself. The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ reminds us of what God put into the preparation for this meal that we celebrate today. We share this sacred meal and are transformed as we remember the death of Jesus and the sacrifice that nurtures our faith, sustains our lives, and supports our work. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

The Rite of Acceptance of the Rite of Christian Initiation

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is for those interested in learning about the Catholic faith, and for those wanting to complete the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, or Confirmation.

RCIA is a process through which one gets to know our Lord Jesus Christ, as revealed in Holy Scripture and in Holy Tradition.

The RCIA group will meet Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m, in our St. Joseph Room from September 22, 2019 through May 31, 2020.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus, May the love and graces of Jesus Savior and Mary our Mother be with you, with your family and with your friends. Peace and blessings.

This Sunday, we celebrate the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, which, similar to the feast of the Ascension of the Lord, is celebrated on Thursday. However, to allow most of the parishioners to participate in this celebration, it was moved to Sunday, so that we can contemplate the loving mystery of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

Although we are accustomed to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist every Sunday, some people like to celebrate every day. We forget to contemplate with joy the miracle that takes place at the moment of the consecration, how bread becomes the Body of Christ and wine the Blood of the Lord - that then, it is given to us as food and makes us vessels of eternal life. It's true, it's a mystery. But that is not hidden and that, Jesus, Savior of the world, has made known to us as if it were exactly that moment when he called His disciples to celebrate the Passover with them. Again, He breaks the bread and passes His chalice full of wine and invites us to sit down at the table, to be attentive and to learn from Him.

It is not only a religious ritual that we celebrate, but it is an authentic act of faith that we live, and we must celebrate with lively enthusiasm, always old and always new; it must trans-form our life.

That is why, on Sunday, if we review many of our attitudes, they are actions of new life, of change and of starting anew. Sometimes they can be merely external actions that must go to an interior renewal, that lead us to share this gift from heaven. The Lord commands us to share our wine and our bread as thanksgiving, as we prepare to come to celebrate on Sunday, to renew our covenant and our faith (Genesis 14:18-20).

May the Lord complete what we lack in love, in fraternity, in kindness and in good deeds. Perhaps there is very little we can offer, but with the blessing of God, it will be enough to transform the environment of our children, of couples, of students, of professionals, of homes, of neighborhoods. Although it seems impossible, our loaves and fishes of love and fraternity can do everything when God blesses them.

He proposed another parable to them. “The kingdom of heaven is like

a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field. It is the

smallest of all the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants.

It becomes a large bush, and the ‘birds of the sky come and dwell in

its branches." (Mathew 13:31-32)

You say you are waiting for the "right moment" to do something truly great. I wonder how many times such occa-sions will arise in your lifetime. No, take hold of the daily opportunities that arise to perform ordinary works in an extraordinary way.

Everyone who goes to the top of a Manhattan skyscraper praises its construction, but few stop to consider that the foundation which supports this edifice is built upon individual steel beams, pieces of gravel, and grains of sand.

The beauty of insignificant objects is magnified under a micro-scope. Do not despise small things.

A particular task may seem small, but by virtue of the sweat and tears involved in its execution, it is made precious. The work may be quite ordinary, but through dedicated love, it be-comes important.

A devoted son may continue to wear a very old woolen jacket, refusing to exchange it for a newer, more expensive one, be-cause every stitch of wool in that garment is a sign of his mother's love for him.

T ư C C Xứ Chúa nhật, ngày 23 tháng 06 năm 2019 Kính chào quý Ông Bà và Anh chị em trong Chúa Giêsu Kitô,

Nguyện xin tình yêu và ân sủng của Chúa Giêsu, Đấng Cứu Thế và Đức Maria, Mẹ chúng ta ở cùng quý Ông Bà và anh chị em, toàn thể gia đình và thân hữu. Nguyện chúc bình an và ơn phúc chan hoà trên hết mọi người!

Chúa nhật này, chúng ta cử hành Lễ kính Mình và Máu Thánh Chúa Kitô’ đáng lẽ được cử hành vào ngày thứ năm, như Lễ Chúa Lên Trời. Tuy nhiên, để tạo điều kiện cho hết mọi giáo dân tham dự được Thánh Lễ này, Giáo Hội đã chuyển sang ngày Chúa nhật, để chúng ta có thể suy niệm được mầu nhiệm tình yêu của Chúa Giêsu Kitô trong Bí tích Thánh Thể.

Mặc dù chúng ta đã quen tham dự việc cử hành Bí tích Thánh Thể vào mỗi Chúa nhật, hoặc là tham dự mỗi ngày đối với một số người, chúng ta thường quên vui sướng suy gẫm về phép lạ xảy ra ngay vào lúc thánh hiến. Làm thế nào mà bánh được trở thành Thân thể của Chúa Kitô và rượu được trở thành Máu của Chúa. Rồi sau đó, Mình Máu Chúa được trao cho chúng ta làm Của ăn, biến đổi chúng ta trở nên những mạch máu của sự sống vĩnh cửu. Đó là sự thật, đó là một mầu nhiệm. Nhưng sự huyền nhiệm đó không bị giấu ẩn và Chúa Giêsu, Đấng cứu độ trần gian, đã cho chúng ta biết được điều đó, như thể lúc đó cũng chính là lúc Ngài đã gọi mời các môn đệ và cử hành lễ Vượt qua với họ. Một lần nữa, Ngài bẻ bánh và chuyền chén rượu đầy, mời chúng ta cùng ngồi xuống bàn, để cùng lắng tâm và học hỏi từ Ngài.

Đó không chỉ là một nghi thức tôn giáo chúng ta cử hành, mà đó là một hành động đức tin đích thực mà chúng ta đang sống và chúng ta phải cử hành thật nhiệt tình sống động, hết cũ rồi mới, phải biến đổi cuộc sống của chúng ta.

Đó là lý do tại sao, vào Chúa nhật, khi mà chúng ta xét lại những việc mình đã làm, đó chính là lúc chúng ta đang có những hành động của cuộc sống mới, của thay đổi và của bắt đầu lại, mặc dù đôi khi nó chỉ là những hành động bề ngoài, nó dẫn đến sự thay đổi bên trong khiến chúng ta biết chia sẻ món quà này từ Thiên quốc. Chúa muốn chúng ta chia sẻ rượu và bánh của mình như là lời tạ ơn, khi chúng ta chuẩn bị đến dâng Thánh Lễ Chúa nhật, để canh tân giao ước và đức tin của chúng ta (Sáng thế ký 14: 18-20).

Nguyện xin Thiên Chúa kiện toàn những gì chúng ta còn thiếu sót về tình yêu, về tình huynh đệ, về lòng tốt và việc lành phúc đức. Có lẽ chúng ta chỉ có thể chia sẽ được chút ít thôi, nhưng với ân sủng của Chúa, chúng ta sẽ có đủ để biến đổi môi trường của con cái chúng ta, của các cặp vợ chồng, các em học sinh, các chuyên gia, các gia đình và mọi người xung quanh. Mặc dù đôi lúc có vẻ như là không thể được, nhưng những chiếc bánh tình yêu và những con cá tình huynh đệ của chúng ta có thể làm nên bất cứ điều gì nếu được Thiên Chúa chúc phúc.

Bài đọc 1: St 14:18-20 Thượng tế Menkisede đã dùng bánh và rượu để chúc tụng Thiên Chúa, là hình ảnh của Đức Giêsu sau này lấy chính Mình và Máu Thánh Người dâng lên Thiên Chúa Cha. Bài đọc 2: Cr 9:11;23-26 Thánh Phao lô tông đồ đã truyền lại cho các tín hữu Côr intô những lời của Chúa Giêsu khi Ngài lập Bí Tích Thánh Thể. Ngài dạy các tín hữu hãy loan truyền việc này cho đến ngày Chúa Quang Lâm. Tin Mừng: Lc 9:11b-17 Tin Mừng thuật lại việc Chúa Giêsu làm phép lạ từ 5 cái bánh và 2 con cá cho nhiều người được ăn no nê.

Phút Suy Tư … Để sống lương thiện Sống thanh thản với lương tâm của mình mới là bảo đảm cho một cuộc sống hạnh phúc nơi của cải tiền bạc, nhưng đó chỉ là những cái mau qua như mây khói, hôm nay có ngày mai có thể sẽ thành trắng tay. Giàu của cải có thể đem lại một cuộc sống thoải mái với những tiện nghi vật chất, nhưng chỉ có sự hài hòa về tinh thần mới đem lại an bình, niềm vui và nụ cười của người hạnh phúc thật. Bà Amstan Babara kể lại như sau:

Hôm ấy, tôi xuống xe taxi trở về nhà, vừa tới nhà được một lúc tôi nghe tiếng điện thoại reo, tôi nhận ra đó là tiếng ông tài xế taxi vừa đưa tôi tới trước cửa sân nhà. Ông cho tôi biết là tôi bỏ quên lại cái ví nhỏ trên xe taxi của ông, và ông hẹn tôi ở một góc đường gần đó để nhận lại cái ví của tôi.

Tôi bỏ điện thoại xuống và vội vã ra đi đến nơi hẹn. Tôi nhận ra cái ví nhỏ và hồi hộp mở ra. Tôi cảm thấy vui mừng sung sướng khi thấy không thiếu sót một đồng xu hoặc một tờ giấy nào cả. Mọi sự nằm y nguyên chỗ cũ của nó.

Tôi rút ra mấy tờ giấy bạc trao cho ông tài xế để tỏ lòng biết ơn.

Ông tài xế lịch sự từ chối, nhưng xin phép được hỏi xem có bao nhiêu tiền trong cái ví nhỏ ấy?

Tôi không khỏi ngạc nhiên ái ngại, nhưng rồi cũng lịch sự cho ông biết số tiền trong ví là bao nhiêu.

Ông tài xế liền rút trong túi ra một cuốn sổ tay bé nhỏ và ghi vào sổ số tiền tôi vừa nói với ông. Ghi xong, ông mỉm cười và nói:

Hằng ngày tôi phải tính sổ xem tôi phải trả bao nhiêu để sống đúng là người lương thiện và ngay thẳng.

Lạy Chúa, con tin thật Chúa hiện diện trong tâm hồn con, trong mọi hoàn cảnh của cuộc sống con, bất cứ con chạy trốn nơi nào, ánh mắt tình thương vẫn tìm kiếm con. Vậy, Lạy Chúa, xin cho con biết con và xin cho con biết Chúa để con luôn vững bước theo ánh sáng của luật Chúa đã được khắc ghi trong tâm trí con, để với tâm hồn an bình con luôn biết yêu mến Chúa và làm mọi sự vì yêu mến Chúa. Estimados hermanos y hermanas en Cristo Jesús:

El amor y gracias de Jesús Salvador y María nuestra Madre estén con ustedes, con su familia y sus amigos. Paz y bendición.

Este Domingo celebramos la fiesta del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo, que anteriormente al igual que la fiesta de la Ascensión del Señor la celebrábamos el jueves, pero para que la mayor parte de los feligreses pudieran participar en esta celebración, se ha pasado al domingo, a fin de que podamos contemplar el misterio amoroso de Cristo Jesús en la Eucaristía.

Aunque, estamos acostumbrados a participar en la celebración de la Eucaristía cada domingo o algunos cada día, olvidamos contemplar con gozo el milagro que se realiza en el momento de la consagración, como el pan que se convierte en el Cuerpo de Cristo y el vino en la Sangre del Señor que luego se nos da como alimento y que nos hacen prendas de vida eterna. Es cierto que es un misterio pero que no queda escondido y que Jesús Salvador del mundo nos lo ha dado a conocer, como si se repitiera exactamente ese momento en que convocó a sus discípulos para celebrar la Pascua con ellos, nuevamente parte el pan y pasa su cáliz lleno de vino y nos invita a nosotros a sentarnos a la mesa, estar atentos y aprender de Él.

No es solamente un ritual religioso que celebramos, sino que es un auténtico acto de fe que vivimos y debemos celebrar con vivo entusiasmo, siempre antiguo y siempre nuevo, que debe transformar nuestra vida.

Por eso el domingo si revisamos muchas de nuestras actitudes son acciones de vida nueva, de cambio y de comenzar de nuevo, aunque a veces se pueden quedar en meramente acciones exteriores que deben ir a una renovación interior que nos lleve a compartir este regalo del cielo, el Señor nos manda a compartir nuestro vino y nuestro pan como acción de gracias, en la medida que nos arreglamos para venir a celebrar el domingo, renovar nuestra alianza y nuestra fe. (Génesis 14:18-20).

Que lo que nos falta de amor, de fraternidad, de amabilidad y acción el Señor lo ponga todo esto que nos falta y quizá es muy poco lo que podemos ofrecer, pero con la bendición de Dios será suficiente para transformar el ambiente de nuestros hijos, de las parejas, de los estudiantes, los profesionistas, los hogares, los vecindarios, aunque parezca imposible, nuestros panes y peces de amor y fraternidad todo lo pueden cuando Dios los bendice.

Este Sagrado Alimento

Hoy celebramos el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. Cada una de las lecturas incluyen una bendición y un compartir de alimen-tos. Lo cual nos recuerda de lo importante que son las comidas en nuestras vidas. Cada comida trae el recuerdo de otras comi-das: el compartir galletas y leche, pizza y cerveza, panecillos y pescados, pan y vino. Cuando preparamos una comida para nuestra familia, nuestros amigos, aun para personas desconoci-das, siempre ponemos algo de nosotros en la preparación y en la comida misma. El Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo nos recuer-da lo que Dios puso en la preparación para este alimento que celebramos hoy. Compartimos este sagrado alimento y somos transformados al tiempo que recordamos la muerte de Jesús y el sacrificio que nutre nuestra fe, sustenta nuestra vida y apoya nuestro trabajo. Copyright © J. Tradiciones de Nuestra Fe Perú tiene más de 3000 fiestas cada año, normalmente en torno al santo patrón de algún pueblo. La celebración de Corpus Christi es celebrada en todo el país. Pero es más llama-tiva en Cusco. Durante el día se escucha el repique de María Angola, la campana más grande de todo Perú, que existe desde el siglo XVI. La celebración incluye una procesión con quince santos y vírgenes del siglo XVII, que vienen desde sus santua-rios hasta la barroca Catedral de Cusco para honrar el Cuerpo de Jesús. Estas imágenes son cargadas por la plaza de armas antes de llegar a la catedral donde se quedarán hasta el octavo día. Según los peruanos los santos y vírgenes pasan las siete noches platicando con el Señor de los temblores, bromeando y planificando el año que viene para sus parroquias. El último día los santos y vírgenes regresan a sus santuarios con otra procesión. Estas dos procesiones nos recuerdan que por mucho que los latinoamericanos amemos y veneremos a los santos y vírgenes reconocemos que tanto ellos como nosotros están al servicio de Cristo Jesús. —Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J. El Rito de Aceptación a la Iniciación Cristiana

Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos (RICA) es para los interesados en la fe católica, y para los que desean recibir los Sacramentos del Bautizo, la Primera Comunión, o la Confirmación.

RICA es un proceso por el cual uno se familiariza con nuestro Señor Jesucristo, según fue revelado en la Santa Escritura y en la Santa Tradición.

El grupo de RICA se reúne semanalmente el martes de 7:00 pm a 9:00 pm a partir de septiembre 24, 2019 hasta mayo 19, 2020.

The devotion to the Sacred Heart (also known as the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sacratissimum Cor Iesu in Latin) is one of the most widely practiced and well-known Roman Catholic devotions, taking the heart of the resurrected Body as the representation of the love by Jesus Christ, God, which is "his heart, pierced on the Cross", and "in the texts of the New Testament is revealed to us as God's boundless and passionate love for mankind".

This devotion is predominantly used in the Roman Catholic Church, followed by the High-Church, Anglicans, Lutherans and Eastern Catholics.

In the Roman Catholic Church, the liturgical Solemnities of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus are celebrated the first Friday after the octave of Corpus Christi, or 19 days after Pentecost Sunday.

The devotion is especially concerned with what the Church deems to be the long-suffering love and compassion of the heart of Christ towards humanity. The popularization of this devotion in its modern form is derived from a Roman Catholic nun from France, Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, who said she learned the devotion from Jesus during a series of apparitions to her between 1673 and 1675, and later, in the 19th century, from the mystical revelations of another Roman Catholic nun in Portugal, Blessed Mary of the Divine Heart, a religious of the Good Shepherd, who requested in the name of Christ that Pope Leo XIII consecrate the entire world to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Predecessors to the modern devotion arose unmistakably in the Middle Ages in various facets of Catholic mysticism, particularly with Saint Gertrude the Great.
