Amanda Hare knew what she wanted to do as a college student: double major in business and political science—focusing on international relations—with an eye towards practicing business on a global level. So when she was admitted to the business school of a large southern state university, she eagerly enrolled.

Amanda recalls, “I went to my advisor—which was really hard to do because it was a giant school—and she said, ‘What do you mean, you want to double major with political science?’ I said, ‘Well, that’s what I put on all the paperwork I gave you.’ And she said, ‘Well, you can’t do that here.’”

Today’s career paths aren’t defined by artificial barriers, and at Suffolk, neither are the degree programs. Here, students like Amanda dive into rich, interdisciplinary studies spanning our entire university. They go further faster in our accelerated graduate degree programs. And they do it all in the middle of a city filled with opportunities to put classroom studies to work in jobs and internships that surround our downtown campus.

Amanda, Class of 2021, made her move to Suffolk and found what she’d been looking for. “I’ve always been a very independent person,” she says. “At Suffolk you can really start your life and do it how you want. That was so appealing coming from a school where you did it their way or not at all.”

Students transfer to Suffolk from all kinds of institutions, all over the country. Nearly a quarter of Suffolk undergraduates are transfer students—and 60 percent of those students transfer from four-year schools.

They do it because we make it easy, with one-on-one academic advising, a special orientation just for transfer students, and the ability to transfer up to 75 semester hours from their current college or university.

Students transfer to Suffolk because they find things here they won’t find anywhere else: a university big enough to offer the resources they need, small enough to enable real connection with faculty mentors and classmates, and flexible enough to let them take their futures in any direction they choose.

ACCELERATED PATHS TO GRAD SCHOOLOnce you graduate from Suffolk, take your studies to the next level with one of our 50+ graduate degree programs. Or don’t wait until you graduate—earn credit toward a Suffolk grad degree as an undergrad in one of our accelerated programs (we have 11 and counting).

STUDY ABROADGoing to school in Boston doesn’t always mean staying in Boston. Suffolk students study abroad in more than 50 locations across the globe, including our own campus in Madrid, Spain. Spend a week, a semester, or a year—whatever works for you.

INTERNSHIPSReal-world learning experiences, like internships, are the backbone of a Suffolk education. And in the middle of downtown Boston, you’ll be down the street from hundreds of opportunities.

HONOR SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIPSThe Phi Theta Kappa honor society has placed Suffolk on their 2020 Transfer Honor Roll. If you’re a member, you can qualify for a special scholarship and admission to Suffolk’s Honors Program. Alpha Beta Gamma society members are also eligible for special scholarship assistance when they transfer.
