The Make-a-Move team is now on Flickr. This is a photo sharing website that illustrates many of the activities delivered in the community. To view the Flickr page click here. As well as Flickr the Make-a-Move Facebook page continues to grow. To view the Facebook page click here and send us a message. We would like to know what sports and activities you like doing and what you would like the Make-a-Move team to deliver in your area.

Due to the severe weather conditions in December, the annual dance show was postponed. The show has been rescheduled for January 20th 2011. Club News

Morpeth Schools get more Cricket hours

Morpeth Schools will benefit from having over 300 hours of cricket delivered in early 2011. As part of the Chance 2 Shine programme, Community Cricket Coach Tom Vickers will deliver Cricket in four First Schools and two Middle Schools in Morpeth. Stobhill Gate First School have ben-efited from having Durham County Cricket Captain Will Smith (pictured with Stobhill Gate First School) supporting Tom Vickers for the pilot project in 2010. What’s On

New Community Fitness and Dance Classes

A full range of dance and fitness based classes are starting in February 2011. Sessions include Boot Camps, Zumba, Boxercise and Salsacise. Venues include Northburn Community Centre, Bedlington Salvation Army and Morpeth Methodist Church. More details can be found by clicking here or by contacting Sarah Haigh on 01670 542407.

Morpeth Cricket Club

Morpeth Cricket Club are starting new Cricket coaching sessions on Friday nights at Chantry Middle School, Morpeth. All sessions are delivered by qualified coaches from Morpeth Cricket Club. The sessions start Friday 21st January and will run for 4 weeks before starting again on Friday 4th March. For more information contact Stephen Parsons on 07729797340.

New Watersport and Rockclimbing sessions

The Climbing Club at Concordia Climbing Wall is for juniors of all levels, on Thursdays 4pm to 6pm. The National Climbing Wall Achievement Scheme is coming soon. Paddle Sports for adults, from beginner to advanced with opportunities to train and gain Paddle Sport awards, on Thursdays 10am to 2pm. Badminton at Cramlington Sporting Club: Flight Path Junior Bedlington Club Thursday 5-7pm (Year 8 to Year 12) ‘Come & Try’ sessions FREE, £3 thereafter The Feathers Badminton Club Wednesday 8-10pm Adults and experienced teens John Watt Academy operates as a development centre for young people. A new running group for beginners is starting at Blyth Sports Centre from Friday 28 January 2011. Everybody will be able to take things at their own pace with guidance from a qualified ‘Run in England’ Leader. Sessions are aimed at people who are new to running or do not regularly run and would prefer to train in a group. Everyone is welcome to join regardless of their age or ability. Funding Opportunities

Multi Sport Clubs

The Make-a-Move Leisure Inclusion team currently deliver Multi Sport clubs in Ashington and Newbiggin. Sessions are for young people aged 6-12 years old and consist of sports such as Football, Cricket, Dodgeball and Basketball. Session information below: Tuesday: Newbiggin Multi Sport Club (3.30-4.30). Wednesday: Ashington Multi Sport Club (4.00-5.00). Regular competitions take place throughout the year between both clubs with plans for new clubs to be established in the near future. For more information contact Lee Paris on 01670 542338.

Ability 2 Play Disability Football and Cricket

Northumberland All Stars are looking for new players. The All Stars train on Monday’s at Blyth Sports Centre, 5 – 6pm £2 per session. The aim is to play regularly in the North East Junior Disability Football League which caters for hearing impairments, visual impairments, cerebral palsy and learning difficulties. Age groups for the league are 8-12yrs and 12–16yrs. For more information on Northumberland All Stars or other ‘Ability 2 Play’ activities please contact Adam Dixon on 01670 542587.

The ‘Ability 2 Play’ Cricket Academy starts on the 18th January at Blyth Sports Centre. Sessions take place on Tuesday nights from 5:00pm-6:00pm for 13-18yrs at £1 per session. If you would like more information contact Ronnie Scheu on 07889320377.
