Kentwood Elementary (2017/18) Kindergarten –2nd GRADE MUSIC RESIDENCY full year program “PLAYING THE BELLS” Unit I- Introduction to Music Theory and Bells: Solfege, and singing Unit II- Mastering the Bells and Songs: Bells performance, and music analysis Through this yearlong weekly program, students gain knowledge and understanding of music, which is specifically tied into the California Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) standards. The 67member Symphonic Jazz Orchestra (SJO) lead by Music Director Mitch Glickman, is the only organization of its kind in the country dedicated to: INSPIRE and EDUCATE the next generation of listeners through its Community Outreach Program and specially designed free Family and Educational Concerts; COMMISSION and PERFORM symphonic jazz compositions in concerts throughout Southern California. Since 2002, the SJO has served over 40,000 young people and their families through free concerts, assemblies, workshops and music residencies across Los Angeles County. Visit us at www.SJOmusic.org

Kindergarten –2nd GRADE MUSIC RESIDENCY full year program

“PLAYING THE BELLS”

Unit I- Introduction to Music Theory and Bells: Solfege, and singing
