HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL 2018

At Delhi Public School Kolar Road, a morning assembly was conducted
by the students of class IX, on the theme „Respect the Elderly‟. The
assembly was informative and inspired the students to value their elders.
The Community Service club of Delhi
Public School Kolar Road organized a
prize distribution ceremony for
Helpage India. In the presence of Ms
Anuradha Mishra , Sr Executive
Helpage India and Ms Sanskriti Khare,
state head, Helpage India and in the able guidance of Madam Principal
Ms Vandana Dhupar, Madam Vice Principal, Dr. Anita Dwivedi.
Three students who collected highest amount in charity for Helpage
India and three class teachers for the highest collection were felicitated.
The officials from Helpage India honoured Madam Principal for the
support and efforts.
04.04.18 An assembly was conducted by the
students of Class II to make the
students aware about their body.
Different internal and external
organs of our body were introduced
to them and the harmonious working
of these different systems and organs
give us good health was explained.
05.04.18 Home is a man‟s paradise. Every
child has a dream house and to
enhance the imagination and
creativity clay house making
activity was conducted in class II,
where the students made beautiful
small clay houses and improved
their gross motor skills. They were
thrilled and exuberant in making their house and enjoyed this activity
whole heartily.
05.0418 “Actions speak louder than words”
body language is one of the
important ways of communication.
Class 1 conducted a very interesting
assembly on body language.
Children explained that body
language can be shown through
Postures, Facial expressions and
Eye contact. Assembly concluded
with a lovely song on body language which thrilled the students.
05.04.18 Family is like branches on a tree. We
may grow in different directions yet
our roots remain as one .A family tree
is a way to show relation between
members of the same family. To teach
values, respect and importance about
family DPS Kolar had conducted the
activity for the students of class 1
.Students were really excited and
happy to share their family tree with each other.
09.04.18 “The most treasured heirlooms are the sweet memories of family „‟

family and increase the love and
bonding between family members
„Cherished our memories‟ activity was
conducted for the students of Class- 1 of
DPS Kolar. Students took part
enthusiastically and showed their
creativity to the fullest.
09.04.18 A special assembly was organized by
DPS Kolar Road Bhopal for The
New session of class XI. The theme
of the assembly was „Well Begun Is
Half done‟ . Assembly started with a
prayer, followed by various events
such as special talk by a student, a
beautiful song „yeh hosla‟ was sung
by the students. Mrs Abhilasha Prashar talked on how to begin the
session with full enthusiasm? Madam Principal also addressed students
and guided them with her pearls of wisdom.
09.04.18 “Never Give Up On What You Want To Do. The Person With Big

More Powerful Then One With All
The Facts”
This was the theme for the
morning assembly conducted by
the students of class VI.
Students discussed the qualities
like hard work, self-discipline, strength, self-control, concentration, faith
etc which help one to achieve their goal. A melodious song “We shall
overcome” was sung by the students to encourage children.
Class teacher Ms. Rishika Solanki presented a theme talk on the topic
“Nothing is impossible for willing heart” to motivate the students.
The program was graced by the presence of Madam Academic
Coordinator Ms. Prachi Verma.
11.04.2018 Life without science is way beyond
imagination. Again this was proved
today in the wonderful competition
conducted by the Science department.
Where all the four houses had put their
best foot forward. All the houses either
demonstrated or illustrated further with
model/props. Following are the positions backed by the houses.
1st position was bagged by Kachnar
House. Their topic was Global Warming.
2nd position was bagged by Amaltas
House. Their topic was Acids and bases
3rd position was bagged by Palash House.
Their topic was Work, force and energy.
11.04.18 Life is a wonderful fairy tale and no one is
too old for it . For kids fairy tales are the
fantasies. To make the students spin the
yarn of their imagination and learn
interesting
facts about
Japan,
story enactment of “A Japanese fairy tale
“ was done in the class assembly
conducted by the students of Class 2.
12.04.18 “Every child is an artist” To explore the
creative potentials in the young minds of our
class II students “Canvas of Expression”
competition was
conducted.
The theme of
the competition was love, care and share.
Students showcased their creative skills in
drawing and colouring, and came up with
amazing art work. This fun filled activity
witnessed an enthusiastic participation by all the students .Their
artistically coloured sheets were a treat to the eyes.
13.04.18 Enrichment of knowledge and helping
students to have a thorough insight of
the subject is the teaching trend of DPS
Kolar. Keeping this in mind the students
of class II were taken for an educational
excursion to a village where they saw
different kinds of houses and the
different kinds of material used to
construct a house.
16.04.2018 Smell the sea and feel the sky. Let your
soul and spirit fly.
Keeping this thought in mind, DPS Kolar
Road Bhopal celebrated the „Fun in Sun‟
n to enlighten our students with facts
about summer.
The day commenced with the auspicious
lamp lighting ceremony by Ms Remy Behl, Academic Coordinator, DPS
Kolar and all the class representatives. A
foot tapping number was presented by the
students of class Prep .A skit on Do‟s and
Don‟ts of summer was also presented by
the children of class I and II.
After the cultural programme children
enjoyed themselves thoroughly as they
experienced the joy of Rain dance and splashing in the pool.Back in the
classes, students were engaged in activities related to summer season.
18.04.18 Nothing can replace the memories embedded
in the four walls of a house". To help the
students understand and differentiate
between different
kinds of houses
and to give them
a lasting
knowledge about the various kinds of
material used in the construction of houses,
the students of class II conducted an
assembly on the their academic topic "kinds
of houses”.
18.04.2018 Delhi Public School, Kolar Road Bhopal celebrated „World Heritage
Day‟. The day was marked by various events organised by the
Department of Social Science.
The day started with the morning assembly wherein the students
highlighted the theme for the day „Heritage for Generations‟.
In order to take the children on
fantasy journey with their Grandma‟s
tales, „Cultural Fiesta‟ was taken up
by the students of Class III. Where in,

position was bagged by Class III-F, the
second position was bagged by Class III-
C and the third position was bagged by
Class III-E.
„Heritage Quiz‟ was organised for
the students of classes IX, X and
XI. The quiz was enjoyable and
the questions were very
interesting. The first position was
bagged by the Palash house,
second by the Gulmohar house
and third by the Kachnar house.
The occasion was graced by Madam Vice-Principal Anita Dwivedi,
Academic coordinator Mrs. Prachi Varma.
18.04.18 International convention on Inclusive Education - Bringing change in
the classroom
A three day convention(April 16
to April 18, 2018) was organized
for the Principals and School
Counselors of Delhi Public
Schools across the country. The
convention was organized by DPS
Gandhinagar under the aegis of
DPS society New Delhi.
Mrs Vandana Dhupar Principal DPS kolar and Mrs Anindita Roy
Ashdhir School counselor participated in the event. Eminent resource
person and well known names from across the globe addressed the
gathering and threw light on different
aspects of inclusive education. They
also sensitized the delegates on how to
effectively handle 'Special needs
children' in the classroom setup. The
primary objective of the convention
was to encourage team work across
the vertical and horizontal hierarchy
of the school and thus achieve inclusive education in its true spirit.
18.04.18 Literary Fest 'Biblio'....

bagged the second position in the Literary
Competition (Kaleidoscope, give life to a
fictional landscape) held at SPS Saket Nagar.
The theme was ' Honesty is the best Policy.'

19.04.18 Oral Dental Workshop
A workshop on dental care was
organized in DPS ,Kolar Road ,Bhopal
for the students of Class III.
The highlights of the workshop were:
1. Dental Hygiene.
2. Healthy eating habits promotes
healthy teeth.
3. Ways to avoid formation of plaque were discussed.
4. Proper process of brushing teeth was also taught in the workshop.
19.04.18 A healthy man can enjoy life in
every way. Personal hygiene is
important in every stage of life, but
good cleanliness habit starts in
childhood. Kids who learn what it is
and how to follow proper hygiene
practices will usually carry that into
adulthood
To educate the students of class 1,
an assembly was conducted on “Health and Hygiene” by the students of
class 1 D. The students explained well about the personal hygiene and
good eating habits, for good health. Students also enjoyed a song on
health and hygiene. They learnt that “A Regulated Life is very helpful
to a sound health”.
19.04.18 To explore the innovative instinct and
creativity of the students „Wall Hanging
Activity‟ was conducted for the students of
class II .They showed their talent and
imagination to make beautiful wall hangings
and enjoyed this activity fully
20.04.18 The department of Music and
Dance organised an Inter
House group dance
competition for Classes IV &
V. The theme for the dance
competition was “Asian
Groove Theory”. All four
houses actively participated.
Traditional folk dances from
neighbouring countries were
selected for each house. Palash
represented Chinese folk
dance, Gulmohar-Nepali,
Kachnar showcased
Bangladesh and Amaltas
represented Maldives.
Amaltas house was the winner
and Gulmohar house was the Runner up team. The competition was
judged by Rakhi Paliwal, a Kathak dance teacher and Sanghratna
Banker, a dancer and theater artist.
The competition was witnessed by Principal, Ms. Vandana Dhupar and
the staff members.
20.04.18 A fire fighting drill was organised by the Fire Department, Kolar Road
for students of Delhi Public School, Kolar Road .Different kinds of fire
were explained and demonstrated by Mr. Pankaj Khare and his team.
The methods of putting off fire
were shown. A fire brigade
was also brought to the school
and a mock drill was
conducted. The entire drill was
extremely informative and
interesting .It gave students
many useful tips for
emergency situations. The
school staff, bus drivers , conductors and lady guards also attended this
drill.

one Silver medal in Individual Kata

Championship held at Panchmari

22.04.18 Dipsites bring laurels to the
school again, two students of
our school:- Aradhya
Purohit and Aditya
Hargunani participated in
All India Tabla competition
held at Dev Samaj Modern
School, New Delhi in two
categories:- solo and duet, there were 53 participants in the solo
category and they received many blessings from the veterans in the field
and won the third position in the duet category.
23.04.18 “Life Begins at the end of your comfort zone” - A theme based morning
assembly was organised by the students of Class 9 with a motive to
reinforce the message that
regardless of how inconvenient it
may seem,change has the
potential to result in something
truly beautiful.
The students tried to bring out
the message of how small efforts
on one‟s behalf can actually
bring desired positive change in
a person by stepping out of one‟s comfort zone. “Talent wins games but
teamwork and intelligence wins championship.” The champions of
IGKO, IEO, IMO, NSO, NCO and
French Olympiad were felicitated.
Madam
Vice Principal Dr. Anita Dwivedi
graced the occasion with her
pearls of wisdom and guided the
students to reach the ladder of
success by stepping out of comfort
zone.
23.04.18 A workshop was conducted by an
organisation known as Special
Olympic Bharat, Madhya
Pradesh at BHEL Ground for the
students of Class XII (Physical
Education), DPS, Kolar Road, on
23rd
April 2018. The resource
person was Mr. Rajendra
Bharaskar. The students of DPS
Kolar Road interacted with the sports person who were differently
abled. The resource person conducted a workshop for our students so
as to make them aware about the disabilities of these special children. It
was demonstrated how disability can be overcome in sports by giving
them special training in their respective sports by special trainers. Our
students were thrilled and excited to watch their special game „Bucchi‟.
24.04.18 Inter House Basket Ball competition was organized for boys from
classes IX to XI . After an interesting tournament between the different
houses Gulmohar bagged the first position, Kachnar House bagged
second position and Palash House bagged third position.
25.04.18 Inter House Art Installation competition was
conducted for classes IX & X. The theme for
the competition was "My Dream". Students
from each house participated enthusiastically.

26.04.18 Robots are usually machines,
controlled by a computer
program or electronic circuitry
.We, at DPS Kolar Road Bhopal,
are conducting the Robology
classes for the students of classes
IV to VIII. In class IV students
learn constructing the basic
modal structures like Catapult,
Toy car, Hand trolley. Moving
towards to class V, they assemble some more complex modals like Rope
way, tricycle etc.
The students from classes VI to VIII enjoyed learning through advanced
modals – Running vehicle , Watering Plants, Sorting Things and many
more. These were all remote modals. Students loved to learn assembling
robotics modals.
26.04.18 Golden Words open doors to smiles on faces. “ Sorry “, “ Please “, “
Thank you “ are magical words that
make a person feel important, pacify
tempers, strengthen bonds and at
times mend strained relationships.
This message was effectively
elaborated by the students of class I
E through an assembly on the topic “
Golden Words “. Children gave tips
to use the magic words in their day to day conversations. They also came
up with poems on Golden Words. A soul stirring melodious song was
also sung by all the students of the class. Children learned the
importance of using the magic words everytime and for everything.
27.04.18 Interhouse „ COSTUME DESIGNING‟ competition was organised by
Art & Craft Department for the students of class XI.
The competition was unique in
itself as old newspapers were used
to design the costumes. The
criteria for judgement was
Creativity, Neatness and
Originality. Each house had a
team of 5 young designers
including the model. The talented
young designers presented their
well designed, mindblowing
creations. Each design was exclusive in itself, even the jewelry was
designed using newspaper.The competition was the indicator of quality
and perfection. Amaltas house was the winner, Palash house and
Gulmohar house bagged the second position
28. 04.18 To commemorate the International Dance Day, the Department of
Music and Dance organized an Inter House Solo and Group Dance
Competition for classes VI – XI. All the houses participated actively in
the competition.
The theme for the solo dance competition was „Indian Classical Dance
Forms‟ wherein students presented Kathak and Bharatnatyam dance
forms.
Nupur Bhatt of class XI from Kachnar house bagged first position and
Ishi Bharadwaj of class X, Amaltas
House stood second in Solo Dance
Competition.
The theme for the group dance
competition was „Spirit in Motion‟
wherein western dance forms were
presented. Palash House
represented Contemporary Dance,
Kachnar House, Hip-hop, Gulmohar House – Urban and Amaltas
showcased Michael Jackson styles.
Gulmohar house was the winner and Amaltas house was the runner-up
in this category.
The competition was judged by
Mr. Yuvraj Mandole, Western
Dance teacher and Mrs. Sneha
Ashutosh Singh Bhadoria, a
Kathak Dance teacher and
performer.
The event was presided over by
the Vice Principal, the
Headmistress and all the Academic Heads of the school
29.04.18 The Geography Olympiad is intended to supplement the knowledge of
geography and help the students in preparing for higher competitive
exams at National and
International level.
The 8th National Geography
Olympiad completed
successfully on 29th April 2018
(at Shri Balaji International
School Mumbai) with children
competing and winning the
National Finalist competition
trophies, certificates and prizes. 50 students from each category across
India were shortlisted for this competition and they participated with
great spirit, enthusiasm and hard work.
In the Geography Olympiad National Championship Finals 2017-18.
Four students of Delhi Public School Kolar Road Bhopal had qualified
for the final 2 round.
Dhairya Garg of class V (2017-18) bagged AIR-3 in the junior category
and Srija Sarkar of class III (2017-18) bagged AIR-5 in the sub-junior
category.
Rishabh Kothari of class VII (2017-18) bagged AIR-11 in the Junior
category.
10,000 students from 123 schools across all states in India participated in
the Phase-I written exam conducted in their respective schools on 8th
Dec 2017.
