Dear School Personnel,

Many would say they enter the teaching profession because they “love working with kids,” but my desire to be in this particular profession delves deeper. It all began when I was in Mrs. Maitland’s third grade classroom, when I observed her assisting my fellow classmates who were struggling with their daily work. Seeing my classmates make every effort to improve, yet still reaping hardly any benefits, prompted me into action.

Whenever and wherever possible, I’ve sought opportunities to help students academically and socially prosper. Whether we were in the classroom or out, I believed each of my classmates could succeed if they were taught to be self-sufficient learners with a solid set of problem solving skills. Today, I’ve expanded my small philosophy into a way of life. Through student teaching and academic courses, Emporia State University’s Professional Development School has prepared me for the profession I’m meant to join. I cannot tell you how exciting it was to see my ideas and work come to life in front of students and teachers. I’m now ready to transfer my experience into a position at your building.

I’d love the opportunity to talk in detail about my passion for education and to share some of my creative work with you. I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Best regards, Jessica McClure
