Question 4 – Evaluation Kate Gardner Premier pro – For our music video we used premier pro to add effects and bring the brightness on our footage out throughout our music video. The effects we used were to bring the colour red out on our narrative, we did this so these would stand out more than the other colours in the shot, by copying and pasting the attributes onto each footage of the narrative it was a continuous effect. Split screen – When adding split screen into our music video we looked at a variety of different music videos such as ‘Kickstarts’ by Example. By doing this we had the same clip on top of each other in our timeline, we then used the scale button to make them to the size we wanted the footage, then by using the motion button we moved the clip to the place we wanted it. We then edited the scale of the image to -100, this flipped into reverse, which then gave the mirroring image. Text – For our music video and ancillary tasks we decided to use the same font which was “chalkduster”. To add the text onto the footage of our music video we created a new layer in premier pro of our project and inserted text bubbles where we felt the text would look most suitable not blocking our footage. For the image above we decided to add the text to the footage then as one word appeared the other would disappear, we felt this was a good idea as the screen wasn’t too crowded and the text wasn’t always at one time.

Question 4 – EvaluationKate Gardner

Premier pro –

For our music video we used premier pro to add effects and bring the brightness on our footage out throughout our music video. The effects we used were to bring the colour red out on our narrative, we did this so these would stand out more than the other colours in the shot, by copying and pasting the attributes onto each footage of the narrative it was a continuous effect.

Split screen –

When adding split screen into our music video we looked at a variety of different music videos such as ‘Kickstarts’ by Example. By doing this we had the same clip on top of each other in our timeline, we then used the scale button to make them to the size we wanted the footage, then by using the motion button we moved the clip to the place we wanted it. We then edited the scale of the image to -100, this flipped into reverse, which then gave the mirroring image.

Text –

For our music video and ancillary tasks we decided to use the same font which was “chalkduster”.

Pace -

At 2 minutes 20 seconds into our footage we decided a change of pace would make the song more interesting, for this we switched between two pieces of footage, one of the artist Kate and the other of the comedy two Azza and Luke, we did this as we felt it would make a difference to the song as it had been quite similar throughout. Also we felt that it went with the lyrics and pace of the music itself.

Reversing footage –

When reversing footage we found it was something we used quite a bit in our music video due to the pace of the music. For this we decided to use an aerosol for ‘before I spray your arse with mace’. This worked well due to us slowly down the footage by 25% which enabled it to last through the whole of the lyrics sung. When reversing this footage we had to go on the same settings as slowing it down which were ‘speed/duration’ button, we then had to click on ‘reverse speed’ which reversed the footage which we added into our video at a later time where we felt it worked best.

Photoshop-

Photo shop was one of the main programmes we used especially for our digipac and magazine advert.

Digipac –

For our digipac we used Photoshop for all of the coming together of our product. When creating this we took photos of the artists (Kate, Azza and Luke) in school uniform with a brick wall behind them so that these could be used for the front three panels of our digipac. We then went to the site were we filmed most of our graffiti background in our own time and took photos of the graffiti we used in our video. We got feedback and came to the conclusion that we did not want our brick wall as our background as it was not filmed in our video so for this we decided to go round the photos of the artists and cut all the background behind them so we could add the graffiti background to keep it similar to our magazine advert and video. In the top right corner of our digipac was the image we spent the most editing time on for our digipac due to it having unnecessary writing over it. For this we had to use the paint sampling tool to sample the colours we needed for each part of the image. We had to blend the colours as close as we could to the actual colours so it was not massively noticeable. We also used the same effect as we did on our video with the narrative of the school girls which was bringing out the red ties so it was more visually appetising for the viewers to look at.

Poster –

For our poster we decided that our ‘Oh snap’ tops which Luke made would look a lot better with the revelling view of the artists legs. We took the photo on a plain white background, we then did the same thing by cutting around the image of the artist (as we did in our digipac) to enable us to put the graffiti image as our background for it. Using the brightness and contrasting tool we decided to make the colour more vibrant so buyers would find it more interesting to look at. We used the same font and colour as we did for our digipac because if it was different consumers of our products would get confused with the album and magazine and whether it was our product.

Youtube –

Youtube played a huge part for our video due to letting us watch many artist videos such as Fergie’s and even Britney Spears where we got many of our ideas from. It helped us put our video up and also get feedback from many family and friends and the public to how we could improve our video.
